CZcams comments are at present disabled in our channel, to the displeasure of some. However, each video has a prominent link to the associated open thread that appears on our blog. In the past we've tried opening up the channel to comments, but we found that a very high number of episodes wound up being flooded with a combination of spam, long winded apologists, and various obscene or misogynistic comments directed at various hosts by people with an axe to grind. This seems to be the nature of CZcams comment sections, in our experience.
We do moderate the blog, the same way that we moderate chat during the show, as well as comments on our Facebook group. For comment sections that are "officially" associated with our show (and, to a much lesser extent, channels that may give the unintended appearance of being official), we prefer not to play host to straight up ad hominem attacks and bigotry. As a general policy we do not block commenters simply on the basis of disagreement with our point of view. However, we do prefer discussion environments that don't actively chase off more reasonable contributors.

    WHAT IS THE ATHEIST EXPERIENCE?
The Atheist Experience is a weekly call-in television show in Austin, Texas geared at a non-atheist audience. The Atheist Experience is produced by the Atheist Community of Austin.
The Atheist Community of Austin is organized as a nonprofit educational corporation to develop and support the atheist community, to provide opportunities for socializing and friendship, to promote secular viewpoints, to encourage positive atheist culture, to defend the first amendment principle of state-church separation, to oppose discrimination against atheists and to work with other organizations in pursuit of common goals.
We define atheism as the lack of belief in gods. This definition also encompasses what most people call agnosticism.

For caller Hamid it's way too simple.
Whomever makes the claim *automatically adopts the burden of proof* .
Atheists are *not making a claim* but instead they are rejecting a claim.
And *rejecting the claim does not come with an assertion* that the claim is wrong. (a very common assumption)

People see design. People saw the Giants Causeway in Ireland, and thought it looks complex and designed.
Ergo it was built by a giant called Fionn mac Cumhaill who built the bridge from Ireland to Scotland so he could fight the Scottish giant Benandonner.
We now know it’s caused by volcanic activity, and we’ve discovered multiple examples of the same formations across the world.

    • @presidentobummer447
      @presidentobummer447 Před 3 lety +1

Pretty sure that caller would still say the giant did it, because he is a rational person that doesn't accept the dictates of science! Also probabilistic reasons.

I can always count on getting a shit answer to this question.
If God created animals to live forever in the garden of Eden, why did he then kick them out to now have to suffer disease, famine & injury, ect...If he did it because 2 humans broke his rules, then he truly is a cruel heartless thug.
I had one theist tell me that *animals don't REALLY feel any pain* . (monumentally pathetic)

The idea of the caller is that everything is made by somebody.
We know that biscuits, cars and computers are made by somebody.
So it must also be the case that trees and the stars were made by somebody too.
He must be very big, powerful and can do magic stuff and hopefully, loves us very much.

I think people forget what is so special about science, the scientific method, and evolution. The joy of discovery. It's okay not to have all the answers. It gives us drive to find the answers. Not just magic. If we find a new species, we don't just say God did it. We want to know what family tree it came from. What kind of animal is it? Finding answers gives us a passion to search. Knowing it was all magic doesn't give us a drive to understand how our world works

My main problem with "Intelligent Design" pretending to be science is that science is not a desperate attempt to justify a cherished belief; science doesn't start by arguing for a predetermined conclusion. You can't have an honest search for truth if you've already decided what the truth is.
"Ignorant arrogance seems to be a major attribute of "plebeian" christianity."
