Even after rewatching these Jamie is literally the only one who actually eats them properly. Mike and Ben are always doing everything but eating the food correctly. I mean, the noodles he lost it but he actually got through the others properly while they were talking for what appeared to be 2 of the 3 minutes 😂

For the future: The time should start counting down the second the contestant starts eating - Ben always steals time not just by talking a LOT, but also by talking before he even starts eating, with his chopsticks or his towel
To be fair Jamie did this as well, only Mike started right away
I think out of the 3 minutes, if the serving isn't finished within the first minute, then the clock should be paused until it is finished. So anyone stalling actually has to suffer a bit longer. Also the clock shouldn't start until the first bite is in the competitor's mouth and lips closed.

I know right. In both these spice challenges Jamie kept being denied a point for his eyes watering. And yet here Ben kept getting points despite being drippier than a raincloud.
@@22hmartin My biggest problem is that Ben literally scraped hot sauce off his food and threw a quarter of one of the cubes on the second round. Sure, the idea was to ignore the sweat, and Jamie's eyes watered, but literally everyone called Ben on that and literally at the end of the round Barry gives him the point. To make matters even worse, Ben literally gave a pained breath directly to the camera (not the "light your breath" joke, but before that, while Barry was talking), and either Barry didn't catch it or ignored it just before saying he wasn't giving much away apart from the sweat. I think that round should've gone to Mike. Also Ben's second point came from the noodles, where he used an ice cube halfway through the challenge (which I would say is full Tap Out territory) and Mike gave a lot away by coughing and breaking down at the end. That point should've been Jamie's. Barry was an overall poor judge throughout the whole challenge.

Mike is like the opposite of pokerface. He goes so far in the other direction to convince you he's TOTALLY FINE that you immediately wonder if he's okay.
As someone with a partner who's stomach rebels at the smallest amount of chilli we have found that peppermint or black tea settles it nicely. Also, best cure for extreme spice is a soft egg. I don't know the science behind it, but in Thailand at least we use it along side spicy dishes and it works a right treat.
I've noticed this for the opposite reason; I'm a spice lover and have to go really heavy with chilli sauce on eggs if I want the heat to come through

That extra hot ramen sauce is effed up 😂 It’s so damn good though. The flavour is really nice, but you also feel like you might die at the same time.
Like an abusive partner. Sometimes it tastes really nice, but the rest is just pain.
It’s so good but good lord it hurts a lot. Also the spicy lime one is almost worse than the normal extra hot one.
I really like the Buldak hot chicken noodles, but the 2x hot are just pain.

The highest sauce on the scoville scale before that was 150.000 scoville. The ramen was actually 8700 but messed them up big time after the previous ones.
The last sauce was made with Pepper X which is 3.000.000 on the scoville scale. Not sure how that translates to sauce and there are certainly spicier sauces (like Da Bomb).
But there is a reason Barry tapped out that quick and i REALLY didn't want to see the others even try this after getting messed up already by the other sauces.

I did notice that while Mike shook it off the top, he then proceeded to dip the unsauced side into it. I do the same with hot wings because too much sauce at once is a problem, but coated evenly is preferred.

I bought a pack of that South Korean Ramen at a supermarket near me years ago. I love spice, but had no idea that this was part of a challenge. I regretted it but finished all the noodles.
Idea for next Poker face challenge: Texture. There must be something out there that can bring out the face twitching.

part of the problem with texture it is very subjective. like with heat there might be disagreement on what is optimum but we would agree b is hotter than a. Whereas because of texture I cannot eat whipped cream or yogurt, which are both popular foods.

Poker face: sweet. We can all handle sweet, but there is something painful about straight monk fruit and other sickeningly sweet products that makes you want to gag after a bit.

The ice doesn't help at all. It actually makes it worse. Milk and dairy is always the way to go with heat.

The only thing I've found that really helps, is to just ride it out. Time is the only cure.

Start with something really mild- enjoyable like unsweetened chocolate, or coffee beans- ramp up to a crazy IBU beer.
I would appreciate the increased challenge for setting up the morsels in the bitter- I think it would be more difficult to present a bitter forward composed dish than just slapping hot sauce on something.
Up until the beer round- but then- not every challenge needs to be about one sided discomfort.

I’m doing a marathon of your videos and have to say the Poker Face series are mesmerizing but at the same time terrifying! How can you do these things? Eating hot sauce that could kill you? Jamie totally won the second round. He's the only one that didn't discard and disguise it as "coating the whole piece." I'd definitely say Ben and Mike should have been disqualified for that round.

You should really have the timer start when they take their first bite, so they (especially Ebbers) can smell it and look at it and talk about it without being on the timer.

Or start the timer after the dish is finished, don’t eat it on the clock they faff around way too much, that way they have all eaten the same ammount, or you can judge off how much of the dish they have eaten.
I’ve had that South Korean hot sauce in a thing of ramen. Those same noodles that you showed. Didn’t know what it was but got a little worried when I saw it was black. The mother had a tiny taste and immediately went “oh you’re not going to like this”

And ultimately, Barry just judged proportionally, I mean Ben performed better than you'd expect him too, but that really doesn't mean he was the best.
I wonder if they judge him harshly because he's the spicy guy, and also because they know he'd win everytime. It's like someone who enjoys durian vs people who doesn't. Of course the durian guy is gonna win, he enjoys it while the others can barely gag it down trying to seem like he enjoys it.
