    any chance of a single band member looking like they care?

    • @jgwire
      @jgwire Před 6 měsíci +1

      not when Anton doesn't. care. The fish rots from the head down. He may not want it but he is the leader of this band and every members looks to Anton for guidance and assurance that things are nice and cozy. But this show is in shambles. MANY of the US shows were troubled and apparently MOST of the Australia gigs simply imploded - I'm sounding like a broken record, but I care: Anton is mentally ill and an alcoholic and he's not doing too well with either right now. I hope he went home, got his illnesses treated and can pick up the pieces of this disaster.....He wanted this tour to be so good. He had a bunch of fantastic songs from 2 new records he just put out -- for months, he hit the US and UK twice, South American for first time, Australia, and then it was supposed to go to New Zealand. --
      I looked at their touring schedule and it's ridiculous -- two weeks of shows and traveling without a night off.....Even the strong BJM ecosystem and Anton's sheer will couldn't save this "tour" --- His expectations were too high because he was so excited about the new music -- I think.
      Anton never announced a "world tour" to my knowledge, but that's exactly what he's beeb going......from Mexico to Maine and Austin to Australia. He's a workaholic -- but he's overworking his band and they are recoiling. And to top it all of, I suspect Anton is drinking again -- which is the worst things about the whole situation.
      I do hope someone takes a hard look at the planning of this tour and why it just went on and on and on....with all that vintage gear that won't stay in tune for more than half a song....Those electric 12 strings -- I once counted 4 being played at once -- are a nightmare to tune and play -
      And with so many 23 strings, you're just gonna have this problem of turning. Half the show is turning - and the other half is Anton's talking such nonsense he sounds like Trump at a MAGa Rally -- sort of. ha.
      in previous tours he didn't have this problem because he DID NOT try to bring those old 12 strings on tour -- and the show was just as good, with little tuning and less examples of Anton bent over his amp, fiddling with the knobs, searching for the sweet spot he calls his sound.....This is my favorite band and I see Anton going down the drain --- I just hope he got help and can come back strong again. HIs fans will accept that. AND FUCK the fans that encourage him to "act out" -- not ALL fans do this --- most are kids who just saw Dig for first time and expect to see that -- but for years, Anton shust those folks down by REFUSING to play "scream at the crowd and band" -- it's best when he just shuts up and plays his songs...I love this band, and I'm pissed at Anton for this -- people drove 10 hours each way and paid hundreds of dollars to see this bullshit? Next time, those folks will stay home, like I did when I got wind of how troubled this tour was. I had a ticket for Atlanta Nov 1 -- I had a bad feeling and skipped the four hour drive -- glad I did -- the review was horrible. He had already begun to devolve -- Anton, you know what you have to do -- DO IT!.

    • @jgwire
      @jgwire Před 6 měsíci

      read my many posts on this page....I'm with you -- this is so sad.....I don't want to write it all again but I've shared some interesting observations and insights into this debacle tour. What started out as a US -UK tour, seems to have morphed into a 2 year "world tour" that nobody really planned or signed up for.
      After Covid, as it was for most bands, it was time to tour tour tour tour tour -- make up for the lost money from lockdowns. These are not rich rocks stars, that's the whole point...
      But these poor guys are exhausted. and Anton is drunk, I think.
      That is REALLY bad, and makes his mental illness worse. The way he was huffing those non filter Camels throughout the entire shows is scary. Anton has always cared about what he projected to his audience, especially when it comes to fashion. It's almost like part of the show. Anton in white, which thick mutton chops, or a blue jeaned, shirt and vested Anton, which was tasteful and made hm look much younger than his 56 yeas
      Then I see a video from late 22 had him onstage ---with no shirt.....though he kept the vest ob,
      I haven't seen him take his shirt off in 20 years -- so something changed and caused him think that was just fine -- I admit: It was cool, and icky but kinda sexy to see Anton play shirtless in sweaty crowded bars when he was in his youth. But Now --it just looks absurd. He's a joke. At least he is wearing a vest, but his big ole belly was on full display......Not a great optic. And as much as he may deny it, Anton cares about optics and how he is being perceived-- In many clips of shows, he'd classic example of he "egomaniac with an inferiority complex" ==constantly seeking approval but not giving it to anyone else.
      It's alcoholism 101 - with a hefty dose of bi-something or polar, manic, depressive, =-= at once point I thought he might have Asperger's, but I dismissed that.
      By the tine thet played Australia in Nov, Anton has slimmed down and was actually looking rather svelte. -- only problem is that I think I now how he lost so much weight so fast -- I used to to the same thing -- it's called alcoholism and it's a deadly diet...... You just drink and never eat -- the pounds falls away...-- but it works, and that's how he looks now...Skinny and burned out yet still rambling on about the number 23 as they wheel him strapped a gurney into the crazy house....That's what it took more than a decade ago before he finally made changes... and his life improved , as did his career.
      Onl, time is not on his side anymore. -- but he can pull it together if he gets help. JMHO

      @jgwire Před 6 měsíci

      that is not dan Allaire. I can promise you that. I don't know who that guy is -- he's not the drummer who plays the next show.....I think a lot of band members here have just had it with Anton and can't work with him anymore -- so, what else is new? But he's been doing SO well, for a decade. But mental illness doesn't have a time frame, and alcohol only makes it worse. He did this to himself. and only he can fix it -- he will. I have faith. And I'll be there when he's well enough to perform again -- but this is the last BJM I'm playing for a long long time....I'm just pissed off at the stupidity of trying to do a tour like this when nobody is up for it.

    • @jgwire
      @jgwire Před 6 měsíci

      @@celeste_2190 yeah, but I've come to the sad conclusion that he is drinking again - it's all downhill from here. Very sad. I hope he has returned to Berlin for treatment for his mental health and alcoholism. HE quit around 2010 and his music and career quickly gained speed and his hit new heights.
      I've been watching clips from this never ending world tour he's taken this band on -- and it's worn them all out, especially Anton. Each show get a little weirder, there are hints of trouble in plain sight but nobody pays attention. Many of his "fans" encourage him to "act out" - and then recoil in anger when he aims his venom at them --
      I wanted to believe this debacle of a tour had to with his mental illness....and I think it does .....this tour was too much for a band of this size to lug all that vintage gear around the world for half a year. But as the clips progress in time, Anton just becomes worse -culminating in the Melbourne disaster.
      I hear him slurring and stumbling through is words while he's shaming the band and screaming at the crowd.
      This all may have been fun and bad ass or whatever back int he day -- all this carrying on.... but this isn't DIG..... thanks God. -- and Anton is 56 years old and chain smokes camels worse then anyone I've ever seen (and I smoke too) then he wonders why he's lost his voice after 20 packs of Camels and the yelling and screaming that comes across in subsequent videos leading up to Meleborne, it's obvious I"m seeing a man coming unglued, and then turn to the only thing that ever seem to calm his demons: alcohol.
      Only it make s everything worse. I hope he gets his shit together -- for his sake. he's worked too hard to throw it all down the drain because of overtouring, being cruel to his band and also any body in audience that he spots looking at him wrong.
      In Short, Anton is sick. Let's help him get well. -- Peace out. JMHO>
