- Ep.290 : A distraught wife brings her golf-crazy husband to ask the panels’ for help. Her husband of five years is rarely at home and she confides that she even thinks of leaving him. A girl in her 20s is frustrated with her mother because she’s always making gimbap. Her family has been eating gimbap for every single meal for a year and they are fed up with it. Another young lady comes to the show to try to get her younger sister to change her self-centered ways.

Now that i've been watching the show for 3 years i can finally say it : WHERE THE F DO THESE WOMEN FIND THEIR HUSBANDS?!!! Like damn every single episode there's at least one concern about a good for nothing husband who treats his family like shit and married a woman just to have a maid like wtfffff Im sooo mad rn....
Honestly apparently women in this area are just not that smart when choosing a husband. I mean I feel bad for them but then again they have chosen to be with this guy this long and then they hope a pretend group of counselors are going to change these pricks of a husbands attitude after one Visit it’s sad. But hey if they plan on sticking with them then they get what they deserve in the end I mean you can only warn somebody so many times
My jaw dropped lower than the floor when the first guy said he feels frustrated when he's with his wife. 😱 Thats so messed up.
Edit: after watching the first one all the way thru, my mouth was open the rest of the time! He does not love her. I almost cried.
I'm so disappointed the first concern. If I were her, I would have left a long time ago...

I can't believe the woman in the first concern is talking about having a baby with her husband. Don't bring a child into a household with a purposefully absent father and a depressed mother.
The first husband needs to be honest and let this woman go. He only married her because SHE made him a top priority by following him around. Everything revolves around him, his hobbies and his wishes.
Let her go. A single woman at that age is looked down upon, especially a divorced woman, but she should cut her losses before having children. This man does not love her.
Why the hell did the golf guy and the girl even marry eachother... the guy seemed as if he didn't even love (he said he liked her a "bit") her and even said he can't even hold a conversation longer than 5 minutes with her... then he comes up with the bullshit story about the cats and his sick father. But it seems to me that he is avoiding her because he does not want to come home to her and spend time with her. The best thing they could do instead of having a baby is divorce eachother because i don't feel like the marriage is gonna work out anyway... The guy is so pathetic it made me cringe watching him. And i truly feel that they married eachother pretty randomly like after the 10th date "hey wanna get married? sure why not lol"
I wanted to slap his face so much I grinded my teeth hard. He is so selfish, I can't understand why she could stick with him for 5 years! The best solution for them is to get divorced, all the "frustration" they both feel will go away immediately.
Ha Ran Jung they should not even have married from the start. I truly feel like they went on a blind date and decided oh lets get married we are the perfect match since we both like sports....

Ha Ran Jung Well that's how it felt seeing them react and "conversing" with eachother on this episode. They just don't match well i think. And they wanted a baby? what do you think happends when you get a baby either the husband can't play golf at all or he leaves his wife and baby multiple times a week so he can golf which would be a real shitty thing to do as a human being
Thanks God they still haven't had a baby yet, the situation would be worse than this if there was a baby involved. Half way through I thought maybe he was gay or trying to cover a secret relationship with someone else, then later I realized he was just a jerk. His wife is wasting her time, I don't see he has any attention to change.
The first problem i don't understand why they got married in the first place...How can you not maintain a 5 min conversation with a person and think that its a good idea to marry them...? And then when asked about his wife he said "When we were dating she would follow me around...I liked her abit.." Thats how he felt about her..And in all 5 years of marriage he's never said I love you...How can he be so thoughtless and How in the world did these two even wind up married..?

i wish they had kept the professionals, the last girl clearly has some type of ocd. They made fun of her and made it seem like she was just a burden for the family, i wish she could have recived the point of view and advise of an specialist.

i have her exact problem tbh it's not as severe to scold my family members but if they touch me or some of my stuff I go to the bathroom and wash whatever part or object they touched. I don't feel the same when friends or cousins touch it tho.. I also can't touch certain objects like door handles and water filter valves, and I have to straighten my sheets until it has no sort of "wave" before I lay down. My mom yells at me that I'm sick and I have a problem but I'm so used to it I wish they would just let me be
I kinda feel bad for the kimbap mom. Like yeah she shouldn't make only kimbap for every meal every day, but it must've been hurtful to hear people make fun of and laugh at a food that she enjoys making every day

I think so.. I can relate to her a bit because I also have issues with my clothes. I wash it myself because I dont want anyone will touch my it except my mother bec she and I have same issues. We are kinda OC in terms of washing clothes. Also, I feel very satiesfied whenever I hang it and the spacing of each clothes is perfectly same and they are facing in one direction.^^;;

Is OCD not very known in Korea? I had a serious case of that and recognized a lot of her behavior. I would have been so embarrassed if someone had talked about it so openly back then. She can get better but she needs to know the real root of the behavior.
i feel like theyre not very well educated on mental illness in a whole... i dont know... maybe they consider it to be shameful, but then they need to change their attitude about it. you cant help it, and there is nothing abnormal about it, its not something you can control but it doesnt make you any less than anyone else, and if people think it makes people with mental illness less, then they are the ones who are wrong. i get so frustrated sometimes watching this show, sometimes its about cultural differences or stuff like this... i dont think there is anything shameful about having a mental illness and its not something people need to hide, if people get turned of by it, theyre not worth your time anyway. i myself have a veeerrrrrrry harmless form of authism and i have add, but ive embraced it and im not ashamed :)
I'm like so additcted to this show! Been binge watched it every day of the past two weeks... the Korean husbands...smh sigh....Taejoon on the other hand...oh my gosh...his shyly smile.....my heart melts,,,,,,,
Ach, this was a really frustrating episode. I feel that the therapist than has been on the episodes before this should've been here, especially for the last concern since the girl seem to have tendencies of ocd.

I feel like they did a trial run with him like they did with taejoon and either he didn't get a positive response from the public or he didn't have chemistry with the mcs :/
1st Concern: If I was that woman I would of left a long time ago, he would of been served those divorce papers right on the golf course he loves so much cause he obviously doesn't care about her at all he's really selfish and ignorant.
2nd Concern: I felt bad for the mom but she's selfish as well not considering her family and just experimenting on the same dish for a year?? That's just crazy but I did feel bad when they laughed at her.
3rd Concern: That girl has severe OCD and she need real counseling like someone really needs to educate that family (and South Korea in general) on metal illnesses instead of just thinking she's a burden to the family. That's just horrible and its concerns like this that makes me wish there was an actual therapist on the show instead of just adding that young charismatic guy for more views.

Does this show ever read the comments left by the international viewers? We've been asking for a therapist to join the show permanently for a while now please consider actually having someone on that can give real advice and help these poor people Forreal. These comedians aren't giving sound advice every concern shouldn't be laughed at.

That would take the comedy out and turn it into Dr.Phil or something. It would be better to do it after the show instead of including it in my opinion. A 10 minute therapy session does nothing.

If my Mother ran a Gimbap shop and fixed it so frequently for home as well, I wouldn't complain at all, it's still food and I would eat it and love it regardless how much she fixes it. If they don't like it maybe the Father should probably fix the meals from now on. Appreciate the meals you eat, because you never know when it could be your last.
EXACTLY if I ask my mom to make me a sandwich or something she would say that i'm old enough to prepare my own food 😂
All I could think watching that concern was that she's old enough to make her own food. XD In my house my mum works and hates cooking and my dad's food is super salty so I learned to make things for myself super fast.

If the concern for the girl in the first story is that bad she shouldn't even have started to think about kids she first must have started thinking about her relationship
She needs to divorce him asap and let him spend his life playing golf. She would be way better of that way instead of spending the rest of her life with that pathetic guy. The last thing they should do is having a child... They can't even have a 5 minute chat ffs >.

I think the guy just doesn't like / love his wife anymore and he is just using random excuses to stay away from her, i mean come on cats? sick father issue that happened a year ago and he's still upset about it? only coming home when she is sleeping? Okay people bashing on the show not having a professional, like this isn't a therapy show it's a show for entertainment and about people who are concerned about something in their life and want to see if others think it's also concerning. They aren't here to give you advice they're here to hear you out about your problem and let the audience decide if it's a big enough problem for them to take even more seriously. Also, unless you're a certified, practicing professional yourself you can't say what someone else might have which is why they don't comment on things like that. It's an individuals choice to go seek medical help, and honestly if they were concerned about something in that sense then I am pretty sure they would go to seek medical help.

Joshima, I keep that in mind all the time, but still saying no is almost impossible for me, the one time I did say no, I felt guilty and called that person back before she gets out of the room 😩

why do i feel like divorcing every husband who appears in this show. well you know what I mean. They are really frustrating. Imagine the sacrifices of the wife and all they think is their self. My god, if I were to stand with every woman who has complain with their husband, I'm going to court already and file a divorce.
are koreans not well educated about mental illnesses? no one mentioned anything about it having the possibility of being a mental thing, the closest thing i heard to that was her mom wanting to take her to therapy
There's a huge stigma attached to mental illness, so it gets swept under the rug a lot. Getting better slowly, but still pretty lacking.
Mental illnesses do not have a high priority in Asian countries. It is much more accepted to ignore the disease or give into it (ie depression to suicide) than to get help for it. More traditional views see mental disorders as dishonorable or shameful. It's mostly due to the older generations who very highly supported the idea of family [honor] versus putting the self first. Culturally, the stigma towards mental illnesses are so strong, that even if the help is there, it's very hard to go seek it out without any repercussions.
So they are educated. They're just so socially and culturally behind on accepting that mental illnesses are okay and there is no shame in going for help or admitting you need help.
If they don't like it - why don't they .. make their own food?

The husband in the first concern doesn't love his wife. He's saying it without saying it, "I'm not talkative, i feel frustrated with my wife, I feel more comfortable golfing then at home, It's because she has cats, I sleep in the living room because of the cats". He needs to tell her the truth. Then she can decide what to do. Maybe he wants to live this way, having a very distant marriage but she wants love and affection. Just tell her! It's so infuriating.

Ugh it's so frustrating to watch the first concern, he's an absolutely selfish and terrible husband. I think it'll be best to leave him, she deserves so much better. She deserves someone who will love her unconditionally; it just makes me sad to see that she loves her husband but he doesn't reciprocate any of that love.
I agree, I needed them to zoom in on when he said he liked her a 'bit'. This man does not love his wife, he just liked the adulation she gave him. She would be better off leaving him and finding someone who actually cares for her.
I see a lot of comments about how they weren't considering mental illness with the 3rd concern and if I haven't been very known on how Korea views mental illness I would have thought the same thing. If you watch Simon and Martina's video about mental illness it'll help you see why people don't worry or think about it to much, but basically one key point from their video is that if you try and get help for it ex. A therapist, future employers could find that out and wonder why hire someone with a mental illness? Why hire someone that has something like that when I condo hire someone "healthy". It's never the same everywhere, in Korea they view it as something bad and that shouldn't be looked into. That's why watching this show I don't blame them for not being able to help the way they could in America.

It sounds like the younger sister has a case of OCD and her hair is (presumably) shorter because it's easier to maintain and "cleaner" than if she had longer hair.

It would be really nice if the show has a psychiatrist to oversee the stories before they show it on tv just to see if any of these stories are cases involving metal health. The third concern made me sad since the hosts couldn't understand that she's showing signs of ocd (I know because I also have it) and just kept on saying that she's self-centered.

I’m 5 years late, but the younger sister in the last concern was semi like my younger sister 😅 She would also come out of the bathroom naked, while her dad was in the living room/kitchen… then, she’d stand around laughing or talking for several minutes. And, he’d have to close his eyes tight because she never wanted to put on a towel.
How did they end up getting married if he's never told her how much he loves her? Don't understand that. First time saying "I love you" was on tv? There's a sign right there. Yeah, she should have left him a long time ago. He's so disrespectful to her too.
The last part of show really funny😂😂 but she should properly treat to her family and respect each other too.
I am studying phycology right now, and I do think that she has OCD... She can't really control it....
i don't think they'll ever have a permanent therapist on the show because this is a korean tv show for entertainment, if they do have a therapist which i believe they already have backstage, i'm sure the producers recommend him to those people that need one after all producers speak about everything before the show is even filmed, they probably interview the shit out of them. i really hate coming here to watch hello counselor and than reading comments about how they should put a therapist in a show, literally all comments are about that i'm sorry but if it annoys you so much then don't watch the show or don't comment. sometimes i want to see what are people discussing about the concerns and all i see are comments about a therapist. i get you're all concerned but i'm sure they get the help they need if it's really needed.

I am binge rewatching hello counselor. My opinion is that i am glas the first concern couple doesn't have children. I wonder how they are now. If they have children, all these stress she's feeling are going to implify not to mention the stress on the children. That guy is a nightmare 🤦🏻♀🤦🏻♀

Just wanted to mention that i hope some of the comments asking the show to consult therapist understand that kbs is nice enough to upload their show on youtube for us to watch for free. constructive comments are gokd but theres really no need to speak as though you're looking down on the hosts or the producers. Have some respect and be nice.
I have to add something I think one of the main issues is these woman are really marrying boys trapped in a bigger body. Plus in Korea drinking is so freely endorsed and part of everyday life and you take that with very immature boys among many other issues and you get what is demonstrated on every episode it seems of some boy who convince a naive girl to marry him and he’s not done growing up or playing with his friends. What’s even worse is 30 plus people didn’t see it as a concern Imagine how those couples are

I don't have the same issue as the sister in the last concern, but I get UPSET when a family member touches me with their bare feet. I don't mean to but lets say me and my mom and my sister are watching a movie in bed, even if my mom is being playful, if she touches my legs with her feet I snap at her. When I'm folding towels, and they aren't perfectly (or close to perfect) folded, I get angry and I start again with that certain towel. Not sure if I'd consider all that OCD since I haven't been diagnosed but those are my annoying pet peeves.
But I understand the sister completely (the one with the laundry issue). I also understand her family's concern. Like the rest of you guys are saying, she'll probably have to get some professional help though so she can get through it. Most of the time these urges aren't the person's fault at all.
When she talked about washing before taking down the laundry, she mentioned self satisfaction. I understand that too. Sometimes if I touch the bottom corner of my mattress with my foot, I'd get upset and I'd have to run my foot along to the other side also lmao. Sometimes if I get drops of water on a clear sheet of paper, or if I'm starting to write and accidentally scratch hole in it with my pencil, I'd get upset and sometimes I'd just crumple it up and throw. Which yes I understand is a waste of paper but I can't help myself sometimes. It's weird but it clears that anger/annoyance that I feel in my chest.
My main point is I can completely relate to and understand that girl. BUT it does cause problems for her family so like I said she should get help so she can at least lessen her actions a bit
idk but I dislike how they keep calling her "self centered" like maybe it's just a translation thing but self centered seems wrong to use in this situation
The last girl had to have some type of thing like OCD or something cause that is not just being self-centered
hanlim should be careful, if she is obsessed with controlling small things it could be bad later in life. also i had a gf who didnt want your outside clothes to touch her bed, even if you didnt sweat. had to change clothes so frequently!
I've seen so many bad husbands on this show that I'm not even fazed by the ridiculous inconsiderate things they say or do anymore. I just look to see if the MCs get upset. I feel like they want to fight some times but they can't step out of line because it's a public broadcast. Plus they have to be composed to knock some sense into them.
