The son in the first concern really should see a vocal trainer. His pronounciation sounded much better when he made an effort. And his father should be nicer and start supporting him or at least care about it😪

silvervixen007 I can relate to him. I am girl but I have a deep voice. People would ask me if I was a boy or if I was a transgender. It is offensive. Although it's not the same thing but I think he should be more confident about his voice and stand up against people.
"what's with your voice?" " I don't know. It started when I was 19 and I can't do anything about it. Please refrain from making unnecessary interventions." That's how I would deal with it.

Meme Queen You're being a bit harsh. The reason he came on the show was to listen to his mom and change himself. I think he regrets his actions at least. Whether he actually changes is another matter. The son displays very typical behaviour of rebellion, and even has the typical backstory to explain his behaviour. The son thinks he is being independent by living on his own and doing what he wants like an adult, but this only shows he is still dependent and needs his mom more than anyone. But the mom, trying to cover up the consequences of her sons behaviour ended up encouraging it instead. It's sad.

I am so happy that the boy in the first concern doesn't have any medical problem. He is very handsome and actually i don't think his voice is unpleasant. When i watch this show i always get stunned by the level of disrespect some people get for things that are their natural look or they can't change by will. I can't imagine being so cruel to another person. There were other episodes that dealt with the same problem and i simply get mad at the people and especially the parents, who are ashamed or neglecting their own child. I hope only that by reading the supportive comments he will see that he shouldn't be sorry or ashamed of what he is. Good luck. Second concern is gut-wrenching i cried the whole time- poor mother, i hope the son becomes better soon and supports his mother.

The guy in the first concern probably had a facial stroke at 20 which affected his mouth and didn't fully regain movement. I had a similar issue at 17 in high school. I had a facial stroke which affected only one side of my face. I woke up one morning with one side of my face paralyzed. I slowly regained movement weeks later but for a long time, the effects to my eye and that side of mouth were obvious. I spoke with one side of my mouth and like him, i didn't go to the hospital. I think he needs to seek vocal therapy, some other therapy to help regain full movement to the right side of his face.

Well, they come to this show to find solutions to their problems as well.. And some problems are so severe that psychologists are needed to actually provide a solution.. Just because it is a TV show does not mean they don't want answers to their problems, because they do, and sometimes the MCs are just not capable of providing a good enough or helpful enough solution.. I totally agree that a professional counselor is needed because this is a counseling show..

they know it's a show. they know they're not going to actually get professional help, not even close actually. the hosts even advise the people who send in concerns to NOT watch the show when it airs. this isn't a counseling show, this is an *entertainment* show. the hosts themselves have mentioned this multiple times, and also mentioned that they have professionals on a few times, but they don't want the show to become serious as much as possible. people who send in concerns know exactly what the show is like, and they know that professionals exist. they're not stupid.

So many comments are there saying that the MC's are bad at counselling because they want the person with the concern to make changes. Reality is, if you want people to treat you a certain way, if you want situations to change, it's unrealistic to wait for the other person/s to change while you do nothing. I'm in counselling and my professional therapist has given me tips on how to change myself for the better. Also, in most of these concerns, the problem isn't one way. While they have issues with other people, other people also have issues with them. In a parent child relationship that has become strained, not only one person is at fault and it is unfair to blame one person and demand they change without helping the other to realize that relationships are give and take and they need to consider the feelings of the other person/s involved. I think the MC's are doing an excellent job considering the platform they have.

i love the mcs, they're funny and all but they're really bad at couseling. I noticed that today in the first concern, instead of heilping him to be more confident and to stood up against the people that prejudice him, they're telling him why didn't he go to the hospital or to voice therapy.... He doesn't have to change because of people around it's them who shouldn't be mean to someone because of his voice !!! i also noticed that they tend to slightly blam the person who send the concern or find any stupid excuse to the bad (sometimes ill) comportement of the other person and i find it really disturbing because instead of confirming that, yes, the person is mistreated and should do something, they are more like yes you're mistreated BUT.... it tends to destroy the self-confidence and encourage the feeling of guilt and useless of the person who send the concern. I think the show would be much better and actually helpful with real therapists. Or at least them having a formation on how they should counsel because their counseling is really bad and toxic for the ones who send concerns

    • @h.i.m.3200

I think it's not wrong to check in the hospital. He could be having a serious problem with his vocal cords or facial muscles since he spoke normally before the age of 20. I do agree on the necessity of having a professional on the show, though, and I've felt that way many times when a counsellor would have provided much help for some serious concerns. But I'm not so sure about this.
ETA: I've looked up causes for voice deepening and the potential causes were serious.

another person who takes this so seriously. this is a tv show. if people want real counseling, they can go to a real counselor. everyone knows they exist and everyone knows this is a freaking show. the guests know they're going to hear personal opinions and jokes. it's not taken extremely seriously, otherwise there are professionals for that.

btsvelvet I think they did a great job on the first concern. Of course people need to stop mocking him, but he can also change a little bit to prevent misunderstandings.
For example he frowns a lot which make him look angry when he's simply just thinking). Pus, he doesn't enunciate (I write this everywhere sorry) and that's what's make his voice sounds "weird", he does have a beautiful voice l, but he needs to work on these two points.
The efforts need to be shared.~^.^~

+Eika Pumpkin ofc i take this seriously the people here send their concerns to be counseled correctly and the excuse of this being a "freaking show" is irrelevant because no matter what they should give good advices. plus those people may know counseling but don't want to go ? they may rather ask to actual people ( the audience)

Shirley Hurley I'm a prek teacher with a psychology degree, a cda, and in school earning my ece certification. With my psychology degree we took physio classes about the brain, how it works mentally and physically, as well as it's parts had to do disections and everything . The left frontal lobe has an area known as Broca's that controls our language and speech motor skills. If he had damage to it because if a sudden stroke and never went to doctor all these years to receive therapy it would explain why he has difficulty controlling his facial expressions and upper lip while speaking. the doctor on the video did say he needed further testing maybe he wanted to check his brain but couldn't because of lack of time to get results in. he does sound very masculine though I wouldn't mind his voice :)

It has been awhile since there was such a serious and alarming concern until the second one. I do hope that the son does keep his word and change because at the rate of how things are, I will not be surprised if the mother either collapses or even go down the suicidal path. She has been abused enough from her ex-husband, and now both her son and society? She has nowhere to run to and if the son does not change, she better keep her word on not saving him anymore. He is a grown adult who has committed enough crime to be sued, and I must say is rather lucky to have not landed himself in jail (yet, if he continues with his ways). I do hope to see the two of them on "Hello News!" one day as a happy family.

I'm surprised going through the comments that no one noticed that the son displayed characteristics of depression. And that actually needs professional help to get through, not some variety show that gives basic and actually sometimes a little meaningless advice to their viewers and guests. I hope that the son is currently doing well and is working with his mom to get through this though.
