- Today im having a bit of fun trying to beat the world record around the Nordschleife with the Formula x. This combo would be instant death in real life thats for sure :)
In my racing life, I started off hating this place, but honestly, the more runs you do here, the more you love it. It is now my favorite circuit (combined configuration specifically) across any game and real life

Same here lol I was like why does everyone like this track it's way too big and annoying and I was always to lazy to drive around a track for about 10 minutes but then I gave it a try and I was HOOKED and it's now one of my favorite tracks and i can put many hours a day into this track besides le man's lol
Its one hell of a track thats for sure, always really liked it. It doesnt produce the best racing maybe but damn is it fun to drive and demanding.
Agreed. When I first played this back when it first showed up in Gran Turismo 5 (I think) I was baffled. I couldn't imagine how anyone could remember it well enough to drive it at race pace. But after being forced to drive it to complete some event or other, I fell in love. It's basically a long, twisty country road, and everyone knows those are the best for driving fast.

An old dude of my town actually raced real F1 cars on the Nordschleife. Also on the lesser known Südschleife. It must have been an absolute thing in those time.
I'm really curious if videogames couldn't revive a lot of forgotten circuits of the past.

I would pay top buck to see a real life Formula X doing a fast lap there. Really, they need to build this thing.

Nice run Ricky. I'd recommend using KERS in straights to top out 6th gear. If I don't know where to use it on a track I typically save it for getting through 5th and 6th gear, 7th if it has it.

It's a fun combo for sure. My FFB fan was going FULL blast well after the race ended. Many walls were injured in the attempts. I lost count of how many wheels I broke off on that track.
Fun video! I just got done practicing the ring for league and then this video pops up haha. I'm glad I'm not the only one who is less familiar with the final sector due to usually crashing out before it hahaha.

Yeah it is an area where it seems you can just shave time off as much as you are willing to, and is kind of rhythmic like the Hatzenbach at the beginning.
Yeah exactly problem is your always so afraid of making a mistake that far into the lap, i did a couple of mistakes there on my training laps ahead of the recording.
That's exactly what happened to me before I closed out of the game and came to youtube haha. I was getting adventurous with my newfound confidence on the ring and pushed a little too hard in Pflazgarten (before the mini-karussell there) aaaaaand killed it during a very quick lap. That area is like the Wild West of the ring to me.
Yeah i know the feeling :) Know where it is, so easy to overdrive that part of the track..
I'm surprised the Formula X doesn't have a 7th or even 8th gear like modern formula cars. Looks like you could definitely stretch out the gearing. Your run looked pretty damned quick and you were 38 seconds off?!! I can't even imagine what that record run was like. Going to have to take a crack at this when I get home. I see many trips to Destination Fucked in my future.
Yeah thought about that too, very strange. Probably has something to do with coding, dont remember but the Formula A only has 6 gears aswell right? I could not believe it when he said 5.40, just ridiculous. Maybe i could get 10-15 seconds off in a perfect lap but 38 seconds no way in hell :) It probably has alot to do when you use your KERS, i still have no idea on where to use it to get the maximum out of it. It really is alot of fun AND frustruating :)
What's really interesting is that there's a Steam achievement for doing a clean run around this track in the SNOW in under eight minutes. But first, I need to learn the track enough to do it dry in under eight minutes.

I had no idea about this KERS thing in this car and I'm a bit confused by it, is it a key you hit to activate it and how does it work? I had a lot of trouble setting up controller bindings for this game it was very frustrating and I still couldn't get it right for some reason. My best time with this car on the Nordschleife was 5:57 and I felt like at any second I could crash lmao If I can get that KERS thing working right maybe I can get an even better time. This game is very satisfying though, I find the car sounds to be way better than Gran Turismo and on my PC it looks VERY realistic. It's insane! Thanks for sharing your video
I can't wait to try this track on PC2. I used to love the Nordschliefe in GT4 & 5, but I notice you aren't sliding around like in GT.
2020 F1 cars in real life are actually quicker than the Formula X in Pcars 2. Which is insane.

It's funny how the game says the Formula X can go 240 mph, but i've never been able to go faster than 197
Happens for all cars. Lmp1's also have this and It is Very anoying
Ever heard of KERS and Gear Ratios ? No ? You gotta tweak the car settings to reach 240mph.. For instance you should Lower the Down force of front and back and Lower the Gear ratios and use KERS(BOOST) to reach those speeds

@@jonahm3121 That's true.. but i personally think Project Cars 2 is more of a simulator than a game and people who don't have that much of knowledge about how racing cars work should stick to games like NFS
Really? I can hit 230 down the long straight on Circuit of the Americas. Although so far the best lap I can do is 1:38. No idea how the time trial guys hit 1:33. LOL
A good place to learn how to tune is by adding ghost setups from the time trials and load their setups into your car. REMEMBER to open the brake and radiator ducts, add fuel, dial back some of the camber and up the tire PSI if you plan on going more than one or two laps. LOL I will say get to know your spring rates. The Formula X car really responds to good changes in the suspension area allowing you to lower down force. If your running the stock gear ratios you will get nowhere fast. Formula X and the Renault 3.5 are two of my favorite cars from PC2.

Not at the moment no, im 100% focused on Project Cars 2 atm but when the LMP1s come to iRacing im definitely doing a couple of races!

TBH a windshield is better than halo. At least it actually improves performance by reducing drag. (But it does have it's own issues though)

I think we all prefer a fully open cockpit but i cant say no to a safer car that would just be stupid. Dont know what ive would like better to be honest, the windscreen here is to big, the ones they tested in F1 were smaller and looked alright imo. Also feel like the HALO would be safer option but what do i know :)
The PC2's FX (created in 2016 by SMS) is almost identical to the 2018 Indycar (road version), also for the windshield tested last week by Dixon
Never played this game so also the car, but there are some corners wich I think you can go flat out. Just after the first part, the corner after the hill. With a GT car it's possible, but no idea what this car is capable of.
Yeah there's defenitely more pace to have around here, i reckon i can improve by maybe 10-15 seconds on a perfect lap. Only did 3-4 laps as training before the recording but yeah there are alot of corners you could go faster in just need more training.

Ohh youre have driven the first part of the track more times? Personally i have driven the last part of the track the most. The first part i actually dont have that many runs, but the last parts i got like 100-200 runs

My own best time is a 5:07.499, currently the WR on PS4 but still like 5 seconds off the pc WR... my time would still be top 4 on pc though

Hi Ricky, I'm really new to the whole racing sim genre and I'm getting my first wheel... I'm deciding between the Logitech G29 and Thrustmaster T300 and maybe the T500... what wheel do you think would be best? i really want to get a shifter aswell, but there is a big price gap between the Logitech shifter and the Thrustmaster TH8A, what isn't making my decition any easier :) Do u think its better to get the T500/T300 and not get a shifter at the start of my sim racing career or to get the Logitech wheel + shifter?
+Paulingerful Hi! I would get the T300 without a doubt. The question you should ask yourself is which cars do you want to drive since most cars use paddle shifters. Do you like to drive road cars or rallye cars buy a shifter otherwise you probably won't need one.

Im the wrong person to ask :) But i have got to agree it seemed hard.
About another 100 laps and riding the line better. He was middle of road here and there and raced like there were other cars on road. Once he drives it with time trial precision it will help. Also dropping fuel and a few other things will help. But yeah imagine practicing this for 5 hours. You would get in about 60 laps haha.... the gp version 700 laps :)

This particular car feels so fake/arcady to me, the way it steers maybe, i don't know. Like the physics break or something!
It looks unrealistic in replay but feels alright when driving it imo

set up custom gearing, this car can do a lot more than 200mph
I did, it was not optimal though. I ran over 200mph a couple of times here aswell. Had a pretty high downforce package thats why the car was pretty slow on the straights
I see you run out of kers on the main straight. I just managed to beat your time by 9s using 4.0 final drive. It redlined at 233mph. Good challenge :)
