7ys later and this is still the best!
The wave motion gun reminds me of Yamato Anime a.k.a. Star Blazers in the US. Great work here. Thanks.
Thank You.... this video made rules so extraordinarily clear. well done.
Thanking you for such a well crafted instructional video. I really appreciate the effort you put into it.
This is so well done. Thank you for this. The rulebook wasn’t too too bad, but left me scratching my head at a few spots.
Dude this was an amazing primer, thank you so much for making it!
Fantastic instructional! Thank you for doing this.
Very well done video. Thanks for taking the time to do this.
I'm just uploading a review video and have linked this into it and mentioned it in the video.
The video is much appreciated. Was pretty sure I wanted this game, now I'm certain I do and will go into it with a decent amount of familiarity. Great video. I wish all games had videos like this.
Such a great review. Thanks for this.Well done!!
Great detail on the play and very clear. Thanks
Perfect job. Thanks. Because I'm like that, I feel the need to clarify that the 'Fantasia on a theme of Thomas Tallis' was written by Ralph Vaughn Williams. :P
Thanks for the information. Hearing the music made me wonder if this game takes place in outer space or 1st century Palestine? :-)
"Wave Motion Gun" That still kills me.
This sounds much more difficult than space empire...
Excellent vid, kept my 8y/o attention
When factoring the power systems loss due to hull damage (~ 15:00), the rules state (paraphrasing) to adjust the power curve until the power is non-negative (the video does not state this, though). However, normally the power curve can only be adjusted by 'one' position at the end of a power phase. I assume that power curve adjustment due to damage is different and can result in adjusting the curve by a larger amount... the other possibility is that if you need to adjust 'more' than 1 position, the ship blows up. Assuming the former...but unsure

During the power phase you may adjust your power curve by one step. You'll note what makes each step different is the Speed of your ship. For a given speed, you may need to adjust the Power value for a ship if you've suffered power damage on your hull bar. This could make you have a negative value for Power, which would destroy your ship if you cannot slow down enough.
ahh..ok..so even if 'forced' to reduce speed, only 1 step allowed. Any more and 'boom'. Awesome. Thank you!
Very good video! Just played my first match today.... is the pens that come with the game durable? Mine just stopped in the middle of the game
Is the voice the guy from the Jim Can't Swim channel?
Does anyone know the background music?
Fantasia on a Them'e by Thomas Tallis, for 2 string orchestras (1910) Performed by: US Army Band Strings
There is a credit in the outro. ;)
Hmm.. seems like a cheaper alternative to armada. I like armada models, but they are expensive unless you only intend to have the basics, and the movement is inaccurate imo
Just came here to say it's not easy to teach 😅
I found it one of the easiest wargames to teach and play. Very minimal rules headway. I think if you're not used to these hex and counter titles, it might be slightly challenging. I've never found that to be the case though.
@@vaele723 agreed, it is easier than other hex and counter and the erasable element on tiles is brilliant :)
@@AmassGames Oh, absolutely. People like to talk how innovative the impulse and turn system is (a concept which Star Fleet Battles preceded by a few decades), but the real innovation here are the writable units. It acts like a very convenient "heads-up display" of sorts. Gone are the days you need to constantly check a data card or a record sheet, as it's all there on the battlefield.
@@vaele723 it's something I'll be curious to review IRL
