- rosstraining.com (April 2011) - Within this video, Ross Enamait explains how to acquire a large tractor tire to be used for a variety of exercises such as tire flipping and as a rebounding surface for a sledgehammer.

I've been a certified trainer for years. I just happened upon this guy's video while looking to acquire a tractor tire for home training. This is some legit exercising to help promote functional strength. Well explained video too. Nice job!
One word; BEAST!
There's no excuse for not getting creative, nicely done!
Nice video. Tires are a fun workout. I've found that when I workout in front of my house my neighbors always stop and watch the crazy guy flipping and hitting tires and running around the block.
Thanks a lot, Ross, for all your input by your website-articles and your videos.
Some weeks ago, I got two tires of an excavator for free. I use one of them for tireflipping and other exercises. The other is tied to a tree, standing vertically, and I use it for sledgehammer-training (5kg). Very simple, cheap and very effective. I love them. Thanks again!
Great video thanks. If you are doing tire flipping and you want to make a little bit more difficult; each time you flip it, instead of running around it to flip it again, you can squat jump INTO the tire and then OUT of it then repeat. I saw people doing this at my gym the other day.
i love the burpee/jump up variation at the end, I've gotta use that on my box.
I really appreciate all of the information that you have given us. Very inspirational. I have just purchased a few lashing straps and your tutorial will make the assembly process a whole lot easier. Keep up the good work.
Just found your website last week. Great video brother. Thanks for sharing.
dude ur in shape! those last sets u were doing were great, keep up the good work ross
@rossenamait your the man this is gonna help me alot i've had a tire for years in my back yard and now it has a use.
Awesome intensity throughout all of the examples.
Ross! Man much respect for your work ethic. You are a hoss bro. Keep bringin' it and stay strong.
Keep these videos up Ross and I will end up having my DIY gym. Good stuff, thank you
@yyportne - Thanks you... As for your question, we don't do as much golf style swings with the sledge. Certainly not a bad variation, but we'll often mix in the tornado ball to work more side-to-side type action (it's also heavier, which is a plus).
Thank you for such a thorough video...hope you don't mind me using some of your stuff
Sick workout! Great job man!
Great job with the video thanks and good use of the sample carpet and moving pads
much appreciated Ross for this video.
brilliant Ross, I do a burpee tire flip combo. Where I flip the tire jump into the middle of the tire jump back out into a burpee and repeat .....its an awesome lil combo!
Dude that is a badass vid thanks for sharing now I'm all motivated to go for a workout!
You're the best Ross!
@jdubin94 - Where I train, there is no other place to swing a sledge. Tires are an ideal striking surface. I also do not have anywhere else to throw a 25lb med ball. Therefore, the tire is used for much more than flips. Sledge work and med ball throws are both used regularly here. As for the remaining exercises, why not give others ideas for their large tires considering that they take up a lot of room? Necessity and option aren't the same, but that doesn't negate from the value of each option.
@ShiningFist03 - I'm not sure of the exact dimensions but I can measure it. I don't have too much room but every last foot is used. The shelving on the walls certainly helps to free up floor space.
Wow. Great Video! I never knew you could get them for free. I figured they were going to be really expensive. You have a great channel keep it up
just got my tire today. Very excited to start training with it. Mine is a beast but not sure how much it weighs. they said between 5 and 600 but its much wider than the one in the video and just as tall.
those burpees are sick your quick as hell bro
awesome i just got mine out today finally warm enough to throw it around.
the burpees are a great idea. thanks for posting
that ist a realy nice tire
good information - thank you
best regadrs from Germany
@pnutbutrncrackers - Check the post-purchase thread within my forum. It is at the top of the Strength and Conditioning section. There is a thread related to k-bells (I much prefer dumbbells).
@MultiDann23 - The sample plan is not based around the calendar. There is no consideration for weekends. You can certainly modify the plan however. The sample is just a sample. You can find more details regarding modification options within my forum under the post-purchase thread.
1 word for ross.... BEAST.
@geoylee - They are furniture sliders. I have another tutorial on using them within my channel. I'm not sure if I can link to it here within a comment (I'll try).
very good video!
@f00k321 - Yes, you wouldn't need as large a tire for sledge work. I wouldn't go too small however, as the tire will be more likely to slide on you.
Good video thansk for the tip on how to get one!
Great workout
@BILLASHLEY3081 - Ha, thanks! As for the tire, it's only around 550 lbs. It sounds like a lot, but tires can be much heavier. I've got another tire outside that is much bigger.
Thanks excellent tips
@rossenamait I too have really been enjoying "Infinite Intensity", & thought I'd throw some encouragement your way. You're the 'real McCoy', Ross. If there was one disappointment it was that with such a broad & creative range of equipment, kettlebells (unless I missed it) were not even mentioned. I say "disappointment" just b/c I have liked KB's & was told they were great. But I respect you a great deal and you must not think that highly of them (?). Sandbags did get a 'thumbs up', though.
@Onefsturbocrx23 - Get the manufacturer, model number, name, etc. and you can likely find the information online. Once you find someone selling the actual tire, weight should be listed in the details.
Some folks add smaller tires within the larger tire. 260 is very light though. You could literally double it. I'd consider finding another tire. You'll get much more use out of it.
will you please do some more hammer and tyre excersises
Great inspiration video bro.The jump burbees are crazy.I did pick up a tractor tirwe but I dont know how much it weighs. It does look like yours. The size I have is 14.00x20ML..Do you know how much it weighs??Thanks and lookin forward to more of your tire trainning videos..
@bignick703 - No, just old wrestling shoes. They are actually quite comfortable.
No problem... As for the floor, I've been using the tires for years now and haven't had any problems. The weight is distributed evenly, rather than having it all concentrated in a single point.
@mapmu - Yes, I made the handles (originally for handstand pushups). If you search on my main site (rosstraining), you can find an entry called Handstand Pushup Handles. I tried to include the link here but CZcams isn't allowing it. Email me if you can't find it. I can send the link to you.
@mikenfl84 - Thanks! As for the tires, they are certainly one of the least expensive weights you'll find. If you have a truck, you can literally get one for free.
@rossenamait what kind of shoes were those, they sounded like they had really hard soles in the last exercise
You're a BEAST!
Love how the image shakes when you flip the tire over :D
How did you make that homemade medicine ball that you've mentioned in the video?
Ross...I just read all the posts and although people have asked, you haven't told us the size of that monster tire...please do tell!
o.o and i used to carry an old car tire as a training way back as a little kid... To the Tire Shop!
I'd like to convert my garage into a training area like you have. About how much space are you working with?
@IronDiggy Agreed. Not going to lie, I was almost bopping my head to that beat
Hadoken!
lol...man those modified Burpee's...pure Beast Mode!
Nice shoes bro, where could I find a pair like that?
I’m watching this video like this guy looks familiar and just realized I’ve been going on your site for years lol
very good
Beast mode on those burpees
@rossenamait Will do, sir. Thanks for the response.
I have a tractor tire, but the soot on it is so hard to come off. I have washed it with everything. I may try painting it with black enamel.
Drill a "rain hole" in the tread of the tire. It helps alot
ross how heavy is your tire? mine is 140 pounds.
ross how heavy is your tire? mine is 140 pounds.
nvm i see its 550 pounds lol. ross what size is it? mine is 19.5L-24
Yes, rosstraining is my twitter name
thank u.
Ross, is that a 20.5/25 or a 23.5/25 tire?
I've got a 20.5-25 tire in my back yard that I can't even flip. Can Anyone give me advice on how I can prop it up a bit just so I can get a workout?
Bolt a 2 x 4 or a 1 x 4 to the tire so that it is off the ground a bit when it is down on its side
@you0rsp888 - Thanks!
Totally off topic but the burpee tire jump combination sounded like the song cups with anna Kendrick
With the problem of water cloggin up the inside of the tyre, the way I have got around that is drill some holes in the bottom and the water will no longer clog up!
Those burpees with the step ups are proper bastards to do, they seemed almost easy for you! Training hard still
The last exersise sound: tush-tu-ru-rush ta tush-tush.
I drill holes with a hole saw in my tires for drainage. Just an fyi.
bad ass!
on really heavy ones you can also stand in the center and shrug
that is sweet
Purcell Tires in North Las Vegas, NV. Not only will they happily give you them for free they'll help you load it.
Okay, now teach me how to get one inside my little apartment in Taiwan... my health is deteriorating rapidly here (fitness health anyway), at home in the US I made new stuff all the time and always had fun. Tons of things you can do in a little apartment, but I like making stuff, dammit.
someone needs to make remix of the last 30 seconds of this clip
@rossenamait yeah I dont have a truck but I can borrow one for free. keep uploading vids!
I got 3 tires for $10 bucks. the problem is the sledgehammer, never realized it would cost upwards of about 50 lol
craigslist is a good place to look for tires
Typically you will want a "small" off road tire like a 20.5-25 which is going to weigh about 500 to 700 pounds

My mind =blown.
Haha. I've never seen 100 likes and 0 dislike before way to go
@IronDiggy - LMAO!
Hadouken
I can never find a place that's willing to give me one (or even sell one cheap)...only a bunch of profiteering jerks who lure me in with "yeah sure we got some" and then smack me with ridiculous prices since there are others who are interested and ready to buy when the freakin things have obviously been sitting there for at least 2 years or more and are like to remain that way. >:\
You'
worst thing that could happen is hella spiders will live in it!!!
Is that a serious question?
Dude if lugging boulders was in your training regime America would have half a dozen 600ft pyramids by now!!!
I would not want to fuck with Ross in any way, shape, or form...
Ok by no means am I trying to sound like a hater but the only exercise shown that can only be done with a tire was the flipping one. A tire is not needed for any of the other exercises
you could aslo spent less than 60 dollars for a barbell and some weight
