On all of these single wire sensors. Short wire to ground gauge should go full deflection one way. Leave wire open it Will go full deflection the other way. This will tell you if it is sender or gauge
What were the symptoms you were having before investigating sensor? Mine goes to H very fast after getting it started. Also where did you buy new sensor?
