70th Anniversary KHorn and Heresy owner here. Absolutely love them. The matching Australian Walnut finish and special metal wire grille on them with old school logo makes them look as good as they sound!
Klipschorn, La Scala, Heresy. I own a pair of each. Wonderful speakers. PWK was a genius, and Roy Delgado is an American treasure.

What can be said about Roy.. I couldn't imagine anyone else in the position he's in. Definitely a brilliant humble guy that is outstanding massaging new tech into the heart and soul of the Klipsch sound. PWK would be proud.

Roy designed the K402 Horn - which is LEGENDARY in the theater sound industry. Some real fanatics even use them in their home systems (crossed over at 400 Hz). Many say it’s the best horn they’ve ever heard. Roy still participates in the Klipsch forums.
Had the opportunity to meet Roy at Rocky Mountain Audiofest last year and the guy was just as humble and kind as he seems in this video. I also met Jill whom Steve interviewed last year as well. She was certainly what I would call professionally cordial but was there doing a job. Roy was like an old friend inviting you into his living room to listen to the killer new system he just got. Great guy from what I could tell.
So proud to see a Latino excel in this niche space. As an audiophile (US citizen and veteran), it’s uplifting. I wasn’t considering Klipsch, but will now consider a future heritage purchase. Buen hecho. Thanks Steve

It's refreshing to hear the engineering aspects discussed frankly, instead of some marketing flack's scripted pitch. Paul Klipsch was an engineer. PK and Roy D have smarts and intuition!
Love my 70th Anniversary La Scala II Speakers.
Nice! I wanted one as a center channel but couldn't get a single one. The whole 70th models are the best looking heritages too. Love the Australian Walnut finish and metal grille. I wish Klipsch would make that finish available again.

I loved these 2 interviews with Roy. I fell in love with audio listening to La Scalas as a 10 year old in 1973. Now I have a home full of Heritage series. Klipshorns, La Scalas, Cornwalls, Heresies, Choruses, and Fortes. bringing audio joy every day. Thank you, Paul! Thank you, Roy!

Worked as an electronic tech in service shop in late 70s and mid 80s in Little Rock ... it was a magic time! Our service manager was formally one of PWK’s engineers and we saw Paul and Valerie often. Been to the plant several times and over to Paul’s house. My name is in PWK’s little black book. Owned several of their products.
Love my Heresy pair from 1977. Can't imagine giving them up.

How cool, I have the Jubilee's in my living room with Roy's DSP settings...
Roy is a very knowledgeable and has a help to make Klipsch a better product, the mid/high horn on the Jubilee is outstanding and linking the the parameters of the horn to the phasing plug is HUGE. Looking forward to seeing what he’s cooked up for Paul’s 75th. I love corner horns even though mine aren’t K-horns, they deliver an exceptional sound experience. Suggest anyone interested in corner horns read the Klipsch blog for 2 channel corner horn imagining, great stuff in there.

Funny Paul Klipsch story ...
I had dinner with Paul one night back in the 80's, during which we talked shop and he introduced me to George Dickel bourbon.
After a while, Paul had to visit the men's room, and I noticed that his fly was still unzipped when he returned. I said, "Paul your barn door is still open. Maybe a little senility creeping in?"
Without a moment's hesitation, Paul replied, "Son, senility is when you forget to zip down, not when you forget to zip up!"

I’ve got and had all types of speakers thru the years and some that I just couldn’t stand to part with such as then Koss CM 1030, Infinities, Lascales, and the Khorns.
All very different and all very good!!
After reading some of the feedback from this post and obviously there are some that just don’t like horn speakers for some reason?
Everyone has a choice and that’s what makes the world go round.

Enjoying my Klipsch Cornwall mk3s with my latest integrated a Cary CAD 300 sei, pure class A 8 watts, plenty of warmth and power.
Also have a Dared 845, and Plinius SA 102, and Plinius M8 pre-amp separates, Innuos server/streamer, and Lampizator Lite 7 dac.
Good stuff, all the way around with Klipsch efficiency!
I'm considering eventually upgrading my amp. How do you find the bass with the Cary CAD 300 sei and Cornwall III. That Dared looks very solid.
Yes bass is adequate, the Dared VP 845 is around 80 lbs, it's a terrific 18 to28 watt pure class A tube amplifier.
When I purchased it from Joe in Naperville Illinois he did two upgrades he felt were important, he had me order some Aurios XO caps to replace the stock coupling caps and I had him convert the fourth input to allow me to run my own preamplifier of choice with it .
Yes the transformers are oxygen free silicon steel from Japan, they are no joke, it's a very dynamic ton efully rich 3d sounding product, it's vastly underrated Imo!
Both Cary and Dared were chosen for solid state rectification, I believe it helps in low frequency response, I should also state I didn't go Cary direct I chose a midnite blue Formula 1 version from Upscale audio. Aesthetically pleasing color along with Jenson oil, copper caps and direct coupling which I'm sure helps in reproducing tighter, transient snap in bass, I must confess I have 2 late model 18 inch Bag End Infrasubs augmenting the lowest frequencies, exceptional subs able to keep up with electrostatic or my Magnepans seamlessly!
I have 2 older 2005 Bag Ends in my hometheatre/ Stereo setup also which features transparent,siltech cabling throughout as well as six Plinius products, a Conrad Johnson met 1 six channel tube pre_amplifier and Magnum Dynalab 102t tuner, a Technicas SL 1200 mk2 table, Kora Hermes tubed dac, Epson 4000 4k projector, DNP Supernova core 2 120 inch screen. Etc.. Etc..
The latest dedicated stereo setup featuring all brand new products with Transparent XL Rca interconnects ,a Revelation audio labs prophecy cryogenic silver Ethernet cat45 8 cable, 2 runs and Wirewolds Platinum starlight USB. 8 cable .
My turntable here is a White VPI prime Superscout with a Kiseki purple heart cartridge and a Keith Herron mk2 phonostage. , Transparent reference phono cable.
I give you this only as the system operates as a whole, while some don't believe in the benefits of cabling and to each there own, I've heard vast difference with MY ears and I've paid accordingly.
So I wish you luck in your next upgrade, and hope whatever you choose it works FOR YOU, as that's all that's really important in the end, for me after a long days work my music is therapeutic and my movies and accompanying soundtracks are as well.
The only things I'm waiting on now is a pair of Western electric 300b tubes, my orders been placed for over 2 years at Rossville works, I'll be receiving a pair of Sylvania 1954 nos 6sn7 round black plate tubes this week as drivers, and a 1944 nos Tung Sol 6sn7 oval black plate for pre-amp duties in my Cary, also have a pair of JJ electronics 300bs can alternately work in my Cary or Lampizator dac, I have Sophia electric 2a3s and PS Vane 101Ds, switches on back allow multiple tubes, don't overlook the Innuos Server/Streamer for sound quality, I believe it to be the best digital transport server, soundwise in the world!
Also the Plinius is world class products, up there with the very best IMHO.
Anyhow yes the bass is satisfyingly weighty, extended, full and snappy.

Enjoyed this Part 2 interview with Roy. I guess I should mention the time I got mildly chewed out by PWK. It was at Marvin Electronics in Ft. Worth at their introduction party (one evening after work) of the Sony CDP-101, the 1st CD player introduced for sale in the US. PWK was there as well and as I recall they had set up the Sony player to be demoed on the K-horns. So, after the demo someone asks PWK what he thought of it and he indicated he was not impressed. He thought Barbra Streisand's vocal was too sibilant. The host asked if anyone else had questions for Paul. Of course, there were a few and then I piped up and asked Paul something about the time delay between the drivers in the K-horn. Needless to say, he gave me a very sharp answer in reply as to why it was irrelevant, if II recall. Kind of embarrassing, but oh well, at least I got to speak directly with him! I had heard K-horn's and other Klipsch speakers at Hillcrest High Fidelity in Dallas and loved them. There was a great salesman at their Lover's Lane location (I believe his name was Les), who would patiently demo the Telarc 1812 cannon shots on the big K-horns (McIntosh electronics) for me and a couple of my buddies. Talkin' about IMPACT! Whoa! Couldn't afford them at the time and to this day I've never had a suitable room for them, but I bought a pair of used mid-1970's Cornwall's when I saw a pair on sale locally back in the late nineties. Still have them, among other speakers. :)
Roy seems like such a down to earth dude and he's hilarious. I love seeing him on the forums react to people who talk about things they think they know, but don't. I hope we one day see a new version of his original CF-4's and i hope to see the plans for bringing the Jubes up for the 75th anniversary soon. The Jubes sound amazing, but they're not very wife or home friendly as is!

Most important question we could ask someone at Klipsch and I've never seen a Klipsch response.

I would so love to hang out with Roy and pick his brain and hear his stories regarding horns and Paul and life, and demo my man loft system featuring LaScala midbass bins and huge Keele-designed classic E-V "white whale" midrange horns with massive E-V compression drivers. Most peoples' reaction to their first audition of that system is "OMG!" I'm sure Roy's would be a smiling "of course...", followed by a great story or two.
So I am a newby on this channel.. the person presenting this martial made me ubderdtsnd the concept of a horn and how it presents itself........I always wondered why the police are showing up at my house all the time,LOL.My K-Horns are trouble makers. Using mono 90s for power......110db@1watt@1metEr.........
When he said he did design a speaker with drivers that had too much mass, i wonder if he's talking about the Epic CF series speakers. They need a lot of power to get those drivers moving unlike most other Klipsch speakers.

I really enjoyed these interviews. I have 3 sets of Klipsch speakers; Lascala, Cornwall, Heresy. All are the first versions. All of them were a “deal.” (less than 1000 for all three pairs) All have Crites crossover upgrades I just bought a Decware amp and phono amp-looking forward to hearing it. Any suggestion for a cartridge for this setup, Thorens 124 with Jelco 750d arm?
If you can't afford a kiseki blue or purple heart, take a look at Nagaoka moving iron carts, the 110 starting at around 150 us dollars is a killer, several others all relatively inexpensive.

Stereophile measured the Klipschorn in an open driveway. Klipsch measures in their anechoic chamber.

Tried klipsch reference once, but they had no way the detail resolution with balance that my monitor audio gold reference gr20 special edition have. Plus the klipsch had worse port / cabinet resonance issues. There is nothing at all that can touch the gr20 at their size / design / detail resolution / price, for what they can actually achieve sound wise at was their given price point / size / balanced sound. There are plenty of new, including more expensive, loudspeakers now than what the gr20's cost when they were new that still cannot compete either, in terms of their sound / balance / detail resolution / harmonics. they are very chameleon as to what kind of audio signal is fed into them equals the sounds that come out of them. Take for example the new amphion two / six monitors that cost £5000 here in the UK, they also cannot complete with the gr20's, nor B&W's, kef, elac, canton, loudspeakers etc either, given the gr20's original cost price. Their are also no loudspeakers that use paper drive units / silk dome tweeter etc, of equal size / design to that of the gr20's that have their detail harmonic resolution / frequency response power dynamics. The Gr20's are the more revealing loudspeaker of the source / amplification / cable performance, source material etc, than of any of the above loudspeakers and many others etc. If they are given a below par and poor signal chain, then a poor and below par performance is exactly what you will receive out of them.

I'm sorry, but I just cannot tolerate horn speakers over long periods of time.
The best Klipsch Heritage speakers are voiced to replicate traditional acoustic instruments in symphonic or large group ensembles. I can't tolerate compressed dynamics of most smaller conventional speakers. Nor their harmonic distortion when played at concert levels. Human tolerance to broad-spectrum frequencies varies. Some of us should avoid live sound levels.
