Just to let y’all know, they played 5-6 songs, and we gave them about 5 standing ovations. This concert was mind blowing.
I'm a big fan of both Dafnis and Michel. I have several albums by both. Michel's One More Once is one of my all time favorites.
I WAS THERE!!!!! I also would say it was one of the best concerts I ever saw/heard!!! Riveting!! Mind blowing!!! Out of this world!!!
I bet Sabian and LP would fight as to which of the 2 companies would be releasing the Dafnis Prieto Signature Frying Pan (call it PanDeiro. Just a suggestion)
Sabian did try to make a signature Dafnis Prieto frying pan type cymbal. Same shape and style, but just didn't have the same sound to it. Frying pans are cheaper and sound better lol

Wow, after some years not listening to Michel, I chance upon this./ I've heard him live with Cliff Almond, Dave Weckl, and Horacio Hernandez, always with Anthony Jackson bass, and so what a treat to hear this fabulous new (to me) drummer,,, it's like Malcolm Gladwell on drums...absolutely fantastic!! wow
I am going to see them tomorrow (25 April 2024) at the University of Miami where Dafnis Prieto is in amember of the faculty and director of UM Frost School of Music Latin Jazz Orchestra.

As someone who was there I can tell you that it only went up from there. By far the best musical experience I have ever had. Giovanni Hidalgo, legendary conga player came out at the end to play a chart or two as well. Special night man.
