    Tunic was such a delightful game to play. I am not well versed in how many sales makes an indie game a success, but I feel like this game didnt get the love it deserved.

    By the way, many of the exploits being used in Tunic speedrun were discovered during development, but was intentionally not patched, according to the developer. The autoscroller skip was also intentionally patched in after the game have launched. I guess the idea is that, exploiting the game is still the intended way to play, because "the adventure isn't for you in the first place".

    To anyone who is wondering what the "holy cross" is, it is a major spoiler, so go play Tunic first! This video is mostly not a spoiler for Tunic. It does spoil one of the plot twists, but the whole puzzle-solving side of this game is still unspoiled.

    When I finished the game, I was dying to see a speedrun, it took over a week for anybody to start speedrunning this game, but when I saw its progression, I was blown away by the speedrunners' performances, I've not been disappointed, and am looking forward to any development for the routing in the future. This is my favorite game to see speedruns of this year.

    "The Librarian is one of the most difficult bosses in the game" IDK why, but I managed to beat him on my second attempt. I had _way_ more trouble with the Scavenger boss. I think I ended up fighting her like, 20+ times.

    I was wondering how long a video like this was going to take to come out. There's a very clever thing in TUNIC that players don't realize they can do, and it makes for a GREAT speedrun when combined with the hyper-intense movement.

    I appreciate the text at 1:14 being translated correctly, really cool!
    (edit wait only some of it was right, most everything else is messed up)
    It took me 2 days of deduction and process of elimination to translate the language myself. Page 54 really does tell you all you need to know. I urge everyone to try deciphering it yourself, it was greatly rewarding for me at least

    • @emporioalnino4670
      @emporioalnino4670 Před rokem +1

      Nevermind lol. At 1:26 it doesn't say 'any' it sounds more like 'annyuh'. Tunic's language is phonetic and the characters pertain to the sound it makes rather than the English spelling of the word. The person who wrote that text probably just saw the letter Y at the end of the word and inputted the character for Y. But the sound ended up being Y like the start of Yak or Yellow. It should've been an 'ee' sound as in bee or me.
      On top of that, the characters should have been overlaid on one another because the inner lines make a consonant sound, and the outer hexagon corresponds to vowel sounds. I can't exactly write the correct tunic character here but it should be the "NEE" character. Or without the A you could do "EN" and and "EE", with the small circle at the bottom of the First character signifying that the vowel comes first.
      Your video is great so far I just had an autism moment and had to point it out lol

    Thanks for this excellent video (and good on you for sidestepping some spoilers)! This game's something special and the speedruns are too.
    A large part of thanks for the game keeping speedrun mechanics around has to go to the game's sound designer, Kevin Regamey of Powerup Audio, aka OTDQ. Having a couple runners on staff always spices up a game.

    Tunics such a fun game, been a minute since i interacted with the speedrun community though, this video made me want to continue glitch hunting in it seeing as not much changed since i left.
    In particular i wanna find a different method of skipping the key cutscenes as the current one is real annoying for a trick near the end of the run, im not actually sure if it was patched or not but while testing it the timing window actually changes based on how long it takes the title screen to load, the longer the game is open the longer it takes and while usually negligible it can mess up a trick like that

    • @BlappetureCO
      @BlappetureCO Před 2 lety +5

      @@DoctorSwellman I think you've missed the point of the language. It's phonetic, the only way you can't make a word is if it uses a phoneme that doesn't exist, which is not likely if you're sticking to phonetic English. It's not ey-n-y (any), it's ey-n-ee. And it's not t-r-o (true), it's t-r-oo. You've definitely botched it hahah, you can absolutely translate the words you've used accurately into Trunic.

    i enjoyed the Metroid Dread speedrun, though it's sad how much content is literally skipped compared to older titles on the GBA where you can't skip much of anything. Which brings me to how sad i am about Tunic, it looked like it was "super zelda" for those who enjoyed the old style zelda games but wanted it to do more, and i guess the developers of Tunic managed it.

Also, you definitely should have put a spoiler warning at the beginning of the video, this game needs a spoiler warning, playing it while knowing anything makes it a worse game.
