The Shakespeare quoting made me laugh so hard. “Wherefore”, obviously, translates into “Why”, so Hailey basically said:
“Romeo, O’ Romeo, why are you Romeo?”
“Literally this book haul”.

Em J That’s actually a common misconception! Every why hath a wherefore :D
On the balcony, Juliet is not asking where her Romeo is, but why he must be Romeo/ a Montague (For a rose by any other name would smell as sweet).
Em J no, it translates to why. Juliette is asking why he is Romeo, meaning why is that his name because she wants him to be anyone else so that they can be together.

OH MY GOSH Blood Water Paint was SO fantastic. I read it a couple of days ago in one sitting and immediately wanted to reread it. It’s super short and fantastic and I want everyone to pick it up now. I hope you get to read it soon!

the two boy princes you're thinking of at 10:30 are Edward V (King of England) and his brother Richard, who were disposed of in the Tower of London and conveniently "disappeared" and so Richard III, Duke of Glouster (their uncle) became King of England :)
So, who do you think really killed the boys in tower? Richard, Margret Beaufort, or Anne Neville? I love asking people’s opinions and theories, because in reality we will never actually know! Sorry HUGE history buff
Lovely question, I'm so happy! I honestly don't know much about Margret Beaufort's and Anne Neville's character, so I don't really know much about the roles they played (my focus is Shakespeare, so I never really looked at the women when I studied the Tudor myth - plus I'm from Germany so I never learned about this in school, either ^^'). History has branded RIII as a very unlikeable, selfish, maybe even power-obsessed man which would make the convenient disposal of EdV & brother feasable. However, I don't know if RIII really was "that bad" (and if he was, if it was of his own volition or if his wife and/or advisers took a big part in that). So in my opinion, I do think that RIII killed the boys (or gave the command for it), but mostly because I don't know enough about any of the other contestants!
Erdnussbuttertoast I know, it’s all so fascinating, I’m also a little obsessed with Perkin Warbeck and so many others from that time! This is why I’m going to school for archaeology, I have a thirst to know more!

*Stopping by B&N in the morning to get Always Never Yours on my way to work...at the used bookstore* 😂. I love Romeo and Juliet..my daughters name is Juliet.
Richard III killed the two rightful heirs to the throne (presumably)! He had them locked away in the palace (I think London Tower? Can't remember which one 😂) and when historians were poking around at some point in either the 19th or 20th century they found the skeletons of two young boys and the Royals and pretty much most of England was like "nope, you can't test on those skeletons" because it's assumed the skeletons are those of the young princes and they want to respect them, BUT when Richard III's grave was found under a parking lot everyone was like "go for it. Test all you want" because he was an ASS. So interesting!!!

Yes! There were two boys in line to the throne (Edward V and Richard of Shrewery) who were killed by their uncle, Richard during the war of the roses
In relation to Isle of Blood and Stone, that bit of British history you're thinking of is the missing princes in the tower who were believed to be murdered by Richard III, and I also happened to think of that when you mentioned princes who were supposed to be dead. Whilst that is the common theory, no one really knows for sure though. It's a bit of history I've always been fascinated by, especially as it happened during the Wars of the Roses and I live right near the Red Rose county border. I'd love to read up on it when I get the chance.
Secondly, I always end up writing such a long to-buy list whenever I watch one of your haul videos. There look to be some amazing books that I can't wait to check out.

I'm gonna be that person who points out that "wherefore art thou" means "why" not "where". So the actual phrasing would be "Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou, Romeo? Because retellings are fantastic and therefore I need like ten Romeos."

I had to read Brown Girl Dreaming for school and I finished it last week. I honestly didn’t like it because the entire time I felt like I was waiting for the story to happen and you never really learn about the characters. I wouldn’t recommend it😬

You should definitely check out Burial Rites by Hannah Kent. It’s an amazing story based of the real events of the illugustadir murders and the last execution in Iceland. Very powerful book

You are thinking of the Boys in the Tower King Edwards the IVs eldest sons, after he died his son Edward the V was named king so he and his younger brother were put in the Tower of London and one night they disappeared without a trace most assume their uncle, Richard the III, had them killed to secure the crown for himself. Who Henry the VII defected in battle which put the Tudors back on the throne.

I just got some major deja vu during this video. I feel like I’ve seen some parts before. So confused.
I had to read If You Come Softly in my YA Lit class, and it sounded like an extremely good and powerful story; however, I was severely disappointed. The book is way too short to cover the ideas that Woodson addresses, and she never fully develops them. I was not a fan of it, but it's always worth a shot.
