Homeboy didn’t even let the guy talking like he didn’t exist at the start. “I wonder, I wonder”
Coolest point in the whole video was learning your Dad loved JC. That speaks volumes about both JC AND your Pa.
He got it “one piece at a time, and it didn’t cost him a dime”
Very underated comment
Just a bigger lunch box !!
And the title weighed 50 pounds
@@ajprickett7272 ahh , negatory on that one Drew , typical truck owner driver move , shave 10 lbs off the tare weight and haul a few extra lbs ....10 to be true Drew ....Just one thread at a time good buddy
@@backintheringtotakeanother5453 You got me there. 60 pounds upon further inspection.
In the 90's I was westbound on I-70 in the middle of the night and on the CB was Cash, the man taking requests. As I was exiting Columbus on the west side, his coach was traveling east. Most memorable night in my career, a true star. Rest in peace.
In 1999 when I was 7 years old I. The front seat of my grandpa's 1985 Peterbilt same make and model of this truck just different paint scheme and johnny cash was on the cb from his motor coach taking requests and talking to all the truckers it was amazing and I told Johnny that I'm riding with my grandpa in his Peterbilt all summer long during summer vacation and that I'm a huge fan of yours and would love to meet you and my grandfather told him if you don't mind we will be stopping at this exit and truck stop and after about 5 mins of us being there Johnny cash motorhome rolled in right next to us cause my grandpa told him what truck we are in and I got pictures with Johnny cash and he signed my acoustic guitar for me as well. That was one of the most memorable moments I had riding with my grandpa every summer in his truck till he retired in 07. I saw the whole United States and all the famous landmarks and attractions and national parks been through Canada to Alaska 4 times and went through Mexico 3 times . I loved in Canada for 10 years so mom and dad would fly me to Wisconsin few days after school let out so I could go cross country in my grandfather's Peterbilt. He only did the cross country driving when it was the summer and when I was with him other then that he just did short same day routes and deliveries that wasn't over night and he would be home every night. He would always get a load no matter where we was and then we drive. He made tons of money during the summers with all the long haul loads and he got to spend time with his grandson for two months every year on the road going cross country.
@@youknoweverything7643 I loved reading your memory, thanks for sharing
Truck Drivers never get old, they just get new "Peter's-Built."
This is proof take care of your stuff and it will last forever
Heavy weight driver would've destroy its seat...
Lol not today’s junk, older stuff sure it was built to last, today they want you buying new stuff at every turn…
3408 V-8 power, the sound of heaven. Great capture and interview Bud. Too bad the owner did not start it up and give us a few blips of the ketchup dispenser.
8v92tt Detroit sounds better.

Johnny Cash was actually my grandmother's neighbor growing up in Dyess, Arkansas. Neighbors being a loose term at the time since they lived a good distance apart, but they did live in the next house down the road. Johnny, my great uncle, and one of their friends all got on the bus together to join the military when they were 18. I remember seeing the picture of them standing with their bags together on an old gravel road.
Johnny Cash the man, the LEGEND. Had a few struggles in life but what a self made talent with such a unique voice. Truck is cool for sure and it's connection (sort of) to the man in Black.
An Amazing Rig and one of my favorite artists! It’s hard to imagine any 2 bigger American icons other than Johnny Cash and a Classic Peterbilt! Great Video!
Spotless truck. I was fortunate to drive an ‘85 359 in trucking school. It had a Cummins 855 Big Cam and an 8-speed smooth as butter. I remember running hot laps around the cone course in that thing, with trailer. Very different feel and point of view inside that cab, compared to anything newer.
First truck I owned was a 1985 peterbilt short hood with a big cam cummins and I thought I was the king of the road.🤣 Great truck.
That's still awesome in my book
Those engine are monster great engine
My uncle had a 77 359 with the KTTA Cummins, I rode with him during the summers in the 80s. I didn't drive it and I still thought I was king of the road, 😂.
Man there are a lot of cars and trucks that should be on display that Johnny Cash never owned.
LOL 😆 ....
Sharp semi. Love the Peterbilts. My dad's semi was exactly like that one same year. Dad's was jet black with the same exact air spoiler on top with the name of Emery's seafood on it with a light lighting it up. Trailer was polished chrome. More lights then O'Hara airport. Everywhere we went he got complements. One time in southern Texas dad was stoped eating at a cafe when some me came in complementing the semi as always. They say down talking to dad shooting the crap. Well dad gets up and tells them bye. He gets in semi looks ahead where them men got out of a bus and on the back it said Molly hatchet. They never said who they was and my dad never asked lol. He said they was great guy's!!
Killer story and killer metal band \m/
In my opinion the 359 Peterbilt was the absolute perfection of mechanical trucks
There's no truck on the market that can hold a candle to a long Hood 359 the cab was very driver-friendly the Corvette Dash 425 caterpillar twin-stick transmission air ride
If they were still made today they would out sell everything
Not sure why he just glanced over that 3408 but that’s the most significant part of the truck besides the fact J.C. Ordered it. 3408 with an RTO 15 speed, that thing was and is a true pavement melter.
Except they went through water pumps all the time. We had 42 MPT Corp all with the extended hood We drove out of Missoula ,Mt.. one time I took a load to Fla and going down 75 nobody on the east coast had not seen such a nice truck. They were purple with black trailers. We usually just ran the 11 western states. I remember the day I went to work there comming from VA I was use to carolers. SO soon as I left the yard I fired a big joint up and hauled ass to LA. Those were the good days!!!!!
Thanks for letting us look at your father's truck man.
You're taking real good care of it
Absolutely mint
My grandpa drove this exact same model and truck from 85-2008 when he retired and all my memories of summer vacation and traveling the united states and cannada to Alaska and all over even into Mexico with my grandfather in the passenger seat of this Peterbilt same make and model jist different color. I loved in Canada and mom and dad would fly me or drive me to Wisconsin few days after school let out and i would soebd my summers traveling and seeing our beautiful country from the front seat of his Peterbilt. My grandpa starting driving in 1968. I miss those days but the thousands of pictures i took on those summer long road trips acctoss couhtry and the memories we made will always live and be with me. It was amazing seeing our country from the back coubtry side highways and roads to famous interstates and routes and highways and all of the amazing things this country had to offer to see including mexico i been through 4 times and we went through cannada to Alaska 5 times.
The owner was a real barrel of laughs wasn’t he …

Beautiful truck! Had a new 1984 Pete that looked similar. Same interior. Just didn’t have that big ole white motor! Mine had a 13 spd and a big cam 400 Cummins. Still pretty good running and pulling truck.
Drove one just like it for couple years in late 80s . Mine was Navy blue 13 spd, 3408 Cat, 355 rears tall rubber !
No problem hitting triple digits!
@@HighOctane-wo6cm mine done low triple digits. I bet that truck you had was a beast! I have driven a V-8 cat and just loved it. Little hard on fuel and parts but it was actually true that it didn’t run late!
I'm sure this guy's family is proud of it. But he really just has a 1985 359 Peterbuilt if Johnny Cash never owned it. That's like saying I have a Cadillac that Elvis never owned.
Johnny should have taken the truck to heaven with him. They love Peterbilt trucks there.
Lol I see what you did there
maybe Johnny bought the truck when having a few drinks and later realized he should not have bought it
Maybe
If you go back and watch the video again. he says the factory failed to install the air deflector on top of the sleeper, and that is why Johnny Cash Rejected the Truck.
I think he had stopped drinking by that time
@@philthelawnman personally i think the factory was trying to help him just not a fan of them
That saddle leather interior ❤️just beautiful 👍👍
Awesome truck........glad the frame hadn't been stretched I like the old look!
So in actuality Johnny Cash never bought this truck he ordered it and then backed out
Well I'd assume for them to install the custom interior or whatnot cash had to have been dispersed. I don't quite know how something like that works though. The truck was ordered but wasn't taken delivery of so that would mean he paid for it but never drove it off the lot? I'm confused now😂
@@haydona1845 I'm no expert but...I would surmise Johhny lost some "Cash" on the order. Possibly the dealership wanted money for being a custom order, possibly not because of his celebrity status. I'm almost sure he had to sign paperwork though. He complained enough to get out of it though. The wind deflecor couldn't have been too difficult to add on so maybe he had buyers remorse and used that as an excuse. I doubt he would have had much use for it. Alot of times ordering is the most exciting part.
Now that is freaking cool as hell.
i have a napkin from a table that marylin monroe sat at but never used,
want to give me 20k for it?
wtf
got my cdl training done with a 1999 Peter highway long nose was nice to drive but turning radius sucked in the city
Mickey Gwillim did an awesome job restoring that truck I didn’t know he sold it to this guy was recently restored too don’t know if the guy in video knows much about it 😂😂

Peterbilt 359 are so Beautiful 💕
Beautiful
I used to drive a W9L KENWORTH WITH THE 3408 aw/ a 13 speed behind it and a air shift 4speed brownie ! Hands down best truck I’ve ever driven.
You must've had a W900A with the extended hood. Kenworth did not offer the 3408 in the W900B or W900L, or the K100E.
Pwterbilt did offer the B-model 3408 in the 359, through 1986. .
@@UnionThugg yes 1980 W900A long hood . I could go buy it but to spend that amount just for a show truck! Just not sure
@@charlescloer5500 that big V8 with a 13+4 must've had some very long legs. I once talked to an old-timer from MN that had a 79 or 80 W900A with a 3408 and a 6×4. He said it would do well over 120 mph, and he showed me an old ticket to prove it!

Even if cash didn't take order of it, just that connection, i bet if this bad boy went to barrett Jackson it would do well💯 💵💵💵💵!
There was peterbuilt factory down the road from johnny cash's house in Nashville
Why did Johnny Cash turn it down? Something about the wind reflector that bore his name? I couldn’t understand what the owner said.
So just to set the record straight , this whole truck show is dedicated to trucks that were never owned by Johnny Cash
NAM...I just saw this truck in Kansas today at the loves !! DAMN IT SON.. V8 CAT 3408
This truck should be in a museum somewhere.
Johnny Cash Museum... lol
A&R Transport used to have an actual 359 that Johnny Cash had on tour in the early 80's, 3408 Cat, 13 speed. I wonder if they still have it
My guess is it's either in a field somewhere rotting away or somebody is just using it as a work truck and hasnt taken good care of it
@@bojanglesthewizard8875 When I worked for John Lawson on his Funny Car, 2003 we had A&R Transport as a sponsor and they let us use that tractor. It was totally restored at the time, and I drove it with our 53 ft racecar trailer. Lawson is from Joliet just down the road from A&R.
Asian mai needs his own Peterbilt at some point.

Sooooooo nice! ❤️
Now that cool 😎
Very special but that’s all them Petes were good for was show room floor if you work them they would only last 10-15 years now Mack truck R models are still running to this day from 80s still working I mean
Nice truck of the planet
Very cool................. 👍👍👍
Nice truck.
Nice
Why Johnny Cash would order a Peterbilt, and didn't picked it up?
Awesome machine!
I got my driver license in 1980, and in ,81 Johnny Cash played in Green Bay, I went up north on the weekends to work on my Uncle's farm and would leave early Monday morning to drive 60 miles for school. Passing through Green Bay heading south Johnny Cash had his trucks and trailers parked at the Howard Johnson's, I got off at the next exit to look at his trucks and trailers and they were black and silver Peterbilt and black and silver custom trailers, and they were beautiful. I find it odd that the man in black would have ordered a red truck, but I guess it's possible
That color was called Roseanne Red and Johnny had a daughter named Roseannr
I had a neighbor in the in the 70s that told I got drunk last Thursday went to Memphis had drinks at the Gentlemens club left there had a few more drinks somewhere else wound up at the Ford Lincoln dealer woke up Monday morning back home with a new continental in my driveway and didn’t remember buying it LMAO
I bought Johnny's coffee cup at an estate sale!
Ordered it and welched on the deal , me or you would have been sued !!! 😂
No sir. I have order a truck myself. It was ordered with a Eaton and was delivered with a fuller it was sold to someone else. If one thing is wrong on the truck order they default. I even got my 12k back
If the truck had two other owners after his dad how can he be sure it's a 100% original and why don't he show the build sheet I have alot of unanswered questions
What hard to understand rules were you had stuff for music events hired drivers to drive bus or semi or you can drive as well except registered for transportation rv recreational activities only like bus
🥺 I wanna hear her sing
Wow original interior too thing is clean!
I was like 🤯
There used to be a Peterbilt factory just a couple miles from Johnny Cash's house on Old Hickory lake outside of Nashville. I bet this one was built there. The Peterbilt plant was in Madison, right between Nashville and Hendersonville where he's buried. Sweet truck!
Asian Mai said HIS DAD loved Johnny Cash lmao 🤣😂😆 yeah right
That's High Water Right There.
how highs the water Gary?
👍👍 they don’t make trucks like that anymore
It must have new paint on it, just wondering to go through a few owners and still look this good. It is possible but rare.
Most likely. The paint wouldve been faded and probably quite a few scratches
Awesome!
Can someone tell me in more detail...without a click of an arrow to point to the wind jammer ...why exactly Johnny turned the truck down? Please and thank you. 🙂
All the rest of his trucks had the band name on the deflector. So he took a truck that looked just like this but with a deflector on it

Dude that owns the truck sounds like Randy Travis
Somewhere there is a potato peeler that Johnny Cash ordered off of Amazon but later canceled that is a helluva collectors item.

1st Petercar I drove was a 1971 359 with a 1693 “Industrial “ Cat that was only supposed to be a 325 but was more like 500 with a 15 over. But with no power steering you earned your pay backing into the hoppers at the Pa. steel mills in the late 70’s
