I get the impression that the talent that made AAA studios great left those companies a long time ago. The larger gaming companies have been coasting on brand recognition and not much else for at least a decade.

20 years? really o.O holy crap im old. but yeah i totaly agree, just bought Coh1 and is just as good as i remember. 2nd and 3rd meeh its not really the same in a way.
They had the opportunity to make a truly unique art style in a fantasy world and instead just made it look like CoH.
I don't understand why they just made a WW1 game, then slap rat and mice head on people and call it a day.
Edit: I kept watching and since all models are covered up, there is almost NO POINT in making them anthromorphic people.
@@RobotTanuki Yeah, nothing about it is unique. Like, why not use unique weapons and vehicles such as giant mouse traps instead of mines, or maybe an emphasis on mass human (rat) wave charges with melee combat options? So many things to do differently since you aren't limited by realism.

Well World War 1 and 2 and the cold war with diesel and steampunk and flesh punk in the later one and all the vehicles do look unique befitting the race they belong to

It's still early access, and it has all the features they listed on the road map. They did not mislead unlike many companies.
@imperialnerd4662 fair enough. I guess, with all the hype around it, I just expected...more polished. Like Arch says, they may have bitten off more than they could chew.
@@imperialnerd4662 that is pure cope for something so dysfunctional it barely qualifies as a proof of concept tech demo, not even an alpha. They've actually regressed from the last time arch featured this on his channel. and you think this can be salvaged? with the level of competency shown by this dev team if they think THIS is something they can be proud of and release ... no. sweet lord no.
@@colvamoon6962it could be a no man sky situation. At least they were honest and said this is early access and did not realise at full price. Maybe in a year it would be better.

I think one of the issues is the extreme short range of the weapons, it makes it too hard to advance with one group, since the others can't cover them. Thus all must advance as a blob. So I think increasing weapon range would help.
Fighting at long range, especially if both are in cover should be slower paced, but increasing in pace as the distances close.
Having a game start with lowered max volume is a a trend i wish would catch on more
It's a shame; the busty rat on the banner art made me think this game would be perfect for Arch

Iron Harvest was a HEAVILY flawed and badly designed game, but it had functional campaigns and AI. it had an artstyle. this has NOTHING. it has LESS than nothing. You can replace all models with nondescript blobs with the icon of the gun type and nothing changes because there is no differentiation between the factions. Then again this is already a highly advanced concept for a team so incompetent in 5 years they ship out a product that does not have functional pathfinding and AI. TWO THINGS. TWO THINGS you NEED to be functional above all else to ship this kind of product EVEN UNDER AN EARLY ACESS LABEL, the TWO THINGS that make this from a tech demo into an actual game, and one barely works (pathfinding) and the OTHER does not exist. Good lord ...
And they have to BALLS to say "oh we will expand the AI's capabilities later" ... your AI needs to HAVE capabilities for them to be expanded. right now you DO NOT HAVE AN AI. And you're asking 20 euros for this. 20 bloody euros! PROJECT WINGMAN EXISTS! 5 euros more for a game that takes 100 euro priced products (ace combat 7 and rogue squadron) and HUMILIATES THEM with the level of quality, polish and refinement of gameplay, and can stand shoulder to shoulder with them in visuals, art direction and storytelling. And it was made by 3 people over 4 years of development. You're 5 and had 5 years.
I will grant you ONE THING. I would hire all of you in a heartbeat to replace the entire art and graphics design of Relic responsible for CoH 3. At least your CoH 1 derivative style is a vast improvement over pastel toy truck ww2 aesthetics. But THAT is not a high bar to clear and dear lord THAT is the only nice thing I can say about this travesty.

just looking at the main menu and the road maps is just.......... I've seen RTS games that launch in EA with Skirmish mode so why the heck is there no skirmish mode? The only exceptions are games like Alien Dark Descent and Door Kickers as those have a much different structure to there type of RTS games. For context Alien Dark Descent has a XCOM style campaign where move a 4 man squad around RTS style while Door Kickers is a Real Time Class Based Squad Tactics game played on mostly randomly generated levels
because there is no AI to skirmish with. as shown in arch's missions. the AI practically does not acknowledge the player is on the map beyond the most rudimentary scripted spawning of units to go to a place at a specific point in the mission and a simple "if enemy in range, toss grenade"

This would totally be the game for Arch, were it not absolute ass.

At this point, a game like this inspires an RTS FPS personal-economy and greater-economy, also different ways to play so you can manage your information personally. Though to what point does it mimic real life? Where everything is synthesized into a program, but for a game?
Personal design and freedom for players would be necessary, especially if it were an MMO RPG like some kind of Necromunda/Underhives/(a Hive-city game like a SIM Tower) or Rogue Trader, especially if from a space marine or 'guardsman'/regular-human perspective.
Not asking for it, just saying, when I see combat like in this game, just let the players be those characters. Let someone else they allow to lead them in game.

That is very disappointing to look at. I haven't heard from this game for sometime and it made me worried. It seems I was right, there are a lot of small things wrong and they are everywhere. So much potential wasted.
When I saw no skirmish I lost all interest. Back to Gates of Hell for me or Starship Troopers RTS(Urban Onslaught is pretty fire DlC boys).
What a waste of an interesting idea. Why bother having anthropomorphic animals (i.e like Redwall) in the place of people if they act and operate exactly as humans do? Why not have the animal soldiers be a similar size as their real life counterparts? That would give you huge creative license!
Or atleast smaller than humans
This game is somewhat interesting. I mean, I watch the gameplay and I cannot find it lazy and boring like for example Starship troopers RTS few years ago. Even gameplay on YT was unappealing, simplistic if not primitive. Here at least I can find some gritty atmosphere. I think I will give it a chance few months from now. And I cannot find any signs of woke, with I see in others games I would to buy, for example The Rouge Trader.
Looks worse than Iron Harvest.
This is painful to watch
This needs 10 more years of work...
