we wanted to see if a hand blender (immersion blender) can be used to make a green smoothie.
It's okay for soft fruits, but will it handle the task of creating a smoothie on the go? The answer in this video is very clear!
I really hope this video does not deter people from buying an immersion blender. One of the best kitchen tools I own. I use it for everything.
Jpdst29 I bought one after buying 3 sub 100 dollar countertop blenders in one year.
They have been lasting two years give or take grinding frozen strawberries.
Any recs on which immersion to get under $100? I’m glad I saw your comment because this was a little concerning! But they’re probably just using a lame one

A bad video of a good machine. They blend really well, like people here have said, cut the vegies smaller. These blenders are a great idea.
The slices are too big, they won't get up into the housing around the blade, obviously if you cut into smaller pieces it would have worked fine.
Just say you don't like using immersion blender to make smoothie
Its not the blender, its the hands problem, no muscle to press down, try to pick up something heavyer then blender, you may get stronger press next time xD
Yes it will blend ! Those blenders will blend anything you just have to be a bit tougher with them, once you get it going its as good as any blender you buy at big bucks.

Weird I’ve blended a smoothie with mine today. Was the best thing I could have purchased for myself as I’m currently away from home and wanted to make smoothies… wish I had purchased mine sooner

It COULD have blended if you first had diced finely the leaves and the cucumbers and used some liquid...
If I have to go through all that stress to make it blend then I don't think its worth it
This is ridiculous. You should've started with water in the first place. Plus, this is not how all hand blenders work. Your model probably just isn't good.
Deborah Lewis mine does that as well and its Delimano brand. And their products are rly good and well known, but before I added yogurt to my smoohie it didn't blend

I guess that with a cheap immersion blender like the one used for this video, there is no surpise of the result... I use a bamix immersion blender for 20 years now...it still work like new and.. in a few moment all is blend.... Have a good day!

I too felt it didn’t do proper cutting and purée blending job with tomatoes and onions and water etc. They all went up and got stuck in the dome interior.
If want dry blender, you should use chopper instead.
This is a very misleading video and even after 5 years it’s still on the internet. 🙄. I watched it before buying my handblender and till this day I’m glad I paid no attention to whatever is happening here. My handblender was/is a big blessing

That happened to me as well, usually my immersion blender is good for a bunch of other recepies, but it never succeed with smoothies with green leaves - even if it blends, the small pieces of leaves stay separate from water, it never blends well like bananas or making smoothies with the normal type of blender that stands on the table

What is this dense human trying to prove? Nothing makes sense here. It's like you're trying to discredit the product. You cannot compare this completely to a blender jug. The blades are too small and they operate much differently. We all know liquids first. We all know cut foods to appropriate sizes. And for those who don't know, this is one of the worst videos they can come across. It will discourage them or further make them confused. Please don't do silly things like this, educate people correctly or just stay in your lane.

Ur jar was too narrow for blender to get to the bottom... I HV one and it blends everything... Worst test I've seen..
This is just blatantly misleading. Firstly it's a cheap and cheerful plastic (crap) blender with a tiny little blade on the end. Secondly the ingredients aren't diced up, and thirdly, you've got to use a liquid of some kind to get the party started. Don't let this put you off buying a stick blender. Get the best and get a bamix, and you will have beautiful vege smoothies for years to come.
