Since you guys didn’t mention it in the intro I’m gonna assume no one told you guys, but the manga is written by the same guy who made Kaguya-sama! Although he writes the story just like for Kaguya, someone else illustrates the art for the Oshi No Mo manga. So it’s actually a conjoined effort for the manga which is kinda unique! I’m sure you guys will notice the writing style for sure the more you watch and problem notice some similarities now that you’ve been made aware of it.
Ty for telling me, I might just read the manga and watch the anime at the same time, since I did the same for Kaguya.
Tbf, having a different writer and artist is not uncommon in manga. A great note is that the artist is Mengo Yokoyari of Kuzu no Honkai (Scum's Wish) fame.
its not that uncommon. A good chunk of manga is like that, including every single novel adaptation(which is a good chunk of all recently serialized manga) and almost every webtoon.
And a lot of 'mangaka' are actually multiple people working as a group under one single name

It really is not that uncommon, a famous example is Death Note.
The choice of Rudy's voice actor was just impeccable.
Also the voice of Puck from Re:Zero and Puck is the spirit cat from Emilia who has the same voice as Ai.

Just from this episode, I observed that Ruby is taking inspiration from Ai's life while Aqua's motivation is Ai's death.

So glad you guys reacted to this. SD card running out is unfortunate, but I really am looking forward to the discussions you guys will have about the show, especially since this first episode talks about several themes that CZcamsrs may relate with.
I even saw this one reactor having an hour long discussion and having a mental breakdown about the fact that the "lies" that Ai mentions applies to reactors as well, as he wants to somewhat play the emotions up for the camera.

FYI, Aqua's VA is the same as Rudy's from Mushuko Tensei
Omg I thought he sounded familiar ! Him being voiced by Rudy's VA just makes so much sense lol.

Because you both loved Love is War so much I was not at all surprised that you'd love the writing in this one. Aka Akasaka's fingerprints are all over this work that I can feel his writing throughout it but it's still a completely unique piece that stands on its own.

OMG I've been waiting for you guys to react to this series! Also, out of most of the reaction channels that I saw react on this one, you guys were the one of the only ones that actually pay attention down to the intricacies and little details of the anime which is what I expected of you guys. BUT WHAT I DID NOT EXPECT TO SEE IS THE WAY YOU GUYS REACTED TO AI'S DEATH SCENE especially Ben.
I've scene Ai's death scene for so many times at this point already and have cried to it multiple times but there was a point where I just stopped crying especially when I noticed that some reactors' crying on that scene felt so fake. But when I saw Ben trying so desperately to not cry, it was clear to me that he's emotion was completely genuine and it reminded me of how I felt the first time I watched that scene so much that I just began to Ugly Cry like a baby with him and the way Ana tried to laugh it off whilst crying got me laughing while crying too XD
Anyway, thanks for the amazing content guys. I hope to see you guys react to series more into the future and I cannot wait for the next Mushoku Tensei reaction alreadyyy!!!

Think it's a great touch how when her life flashed before her eyes Ai only saw her life after she had her children.
The director also did a lot of nice other things. I'm looking forward to people doing huge analysis of this "episode"(Movie) and all the choices made.
And a couple memories with the Saitous too. It's all just what became her family. Nothing about the idol industry, her childhood, etc...
Akasaka (and the director for this) really went "How can we make this the most painful personal tragedy our audience has witnessed?" and went for it.

man...i've been watching you guys fore like 3 or 4 months now (first playlist i react to is RE:ZERO) and i alwyas never disapointed by you guys. the effort to write down notes, crafting teories and some of them even wilder and better than the canon event, and care to discusion until all the milk of that each and every episode dry make me happy. You are the best guys. I feel bad about that I didn't catch my tears during the watching this episode before you. But I'd say, I was a victim of hype. I expected the series be way darker, based on everyone else's reaction. But I was definitely kooked after second episode. Their growing up seems as very interesting perspective. I have a sibling, so it almost inevitable.

The manga won a bunch of JP awards over the years and I'm really looking forward the adaptation.
The author put a lot of thought in the story, but unfortunately some of it gets lost in the translation since there's so much stuff that can't be translated, like with how the character names are written. Hoshino(星野) = Star Field (I made a video on the first episode, if anyone is interested for more~~)

This episode hit me like a truck, and not the kind where I get sent to a happy fantasy world.
I knew this was coming this is gonna be amazing. Made by the same person who made Love is War so this show of def gonna be a classic
Ben, my reaction was your reaction. I was just tramatized and I didn't want to let go to Ai. I was falling for her character and cheering for her so much... My mother passed away when I was three, I can relate to this so much... It's just damn.... I mean damn. Idk if I even want to give the "real story" a chance because the prologue's "theme" of "Ai's raise to the top as she learns what Love is" already had me sold. This got so wild, I can't wait to see what happens next, but Ai left a strong impression, even her ending made you want to hug and protect.
It's interesting that in two of Aka Akasaka's works, Oshi no Ko and Kaguya-sama, he goes really in depth of putting on masks or fronts for other people, lying, and faking till you make it. It seems he really enjoys exploring that concept.

also for note, the eye pattern are symbolic and only "we" as the viewer of the show can watch the eye pattern.
it's not only a trait of the main character but also some kind of symbol of the character ambition/feeling. especially about hate, lie, and loving.
that's why you notice in the epilogue the star can be turn into dark, or bright or even dissapear (when Ai dies).
it's similar how in anime artstyle , the eyes can change shape/color/ size when the character expressing their emotion, but the writer took a specific unique art direction for the pupil lol.

I was surprised they called it Oshi no ko without renaming in English.
It's awsome coz Oshi no Ko has double (or more) meanings so it mustve been hard to translate it.
Oshi is a newer (10 - 15 years old) japanese slang word for someone/charactor one favs/loves/supports.
Also ko means child(children)/little girl/boy or simply girl/boy.
So when I didnt know anything about the story, and just know its about "Idol," I thought Oshi no ko meant "My favorite girl (Idol)" first.
then later finds out wait! ko meant children!?
Fun fact since you're watching Re:Zero: Ai is voiced by Rie Takahashi (Emilia) and Aqua is voiced by Yumi Uchiyama (Puck)

the perfect lie includes some truth but Ai not being able to distinguish between lies and truth as she says makes it difficult for her to do that properly.
