♫CHEMICAL PLANT ZONE (Sonic 2) SNES Arrangement - NintendoComplete

This is an arrangement of Masato Nakamura's Chemical Plant Zone theme from Sonic the Hedgehog 2 on the Sega Genesis. It has been arranged for native playback on SNES hardware, and the audio was recorded directly from a launch-model SNES deck.
This is one of my favorite Sonic themes, but I've loaded it up with synth brass, super saws, and some ass whoopin' DX7 bass. Thanks for listening!

Nicely done, man. Maybe it's the nostalgia talking, but man did it sound great on Sega's sound chip. What I found more impressive is how well certain games utilize its capabilities as opposed to how horrible a lot of games sound on the Genesis/Mega Drive.

The SNES could make some excellent music by not using the processor on any tasks other than assisting the sound chip. The Genesis could also do better sound and have more on screen colors than standard by using more CPU power but they almost never did it.
