  • Are you looking for an easy way to get more open at impact and create a tour quality strike? In this video, fellow Milo Lines Golf coach, Henry Fall joins me to look at a pattern we've seen employed by some of the greatest players of all time, including: David Duval, Annika Sorenstam, Henrik Stenson, and Dustin Johnson. To spawn a more rotational golf swing, this simple trick can help you turn the corner and get that compressed golf impact position, with shaft lean and more chest rotation. We hope you enjoy the video, and don't forget to like, subscribe, and leave us a comment if this helps!

    Love this, love the membership. Anyone on here, do yourself a favor and join. One analogy that I think exemplifies your point is connected to the fighting arts. In TKD or Karate practitioners are taught to snap their kicks at the target. This strike has it's uses, but the most powerful strike in all of martial arts is the Muay Thai leg kick. In the Muay Thai leg kick, your throw your hip in the direction of the target and the shin lags behind and then snaps through, "delofted" at impact. Fighters are taught to kick "through" the target not at the target (this is often a "light bulb" moment for newbies in gyms). In fact, when they miss, they spin because there is too much power to pull back. Also, notably, you'll never seen a Muay Thai fighter strike with the top of their foot because doing so can brake the bones on the top of the foot. I've never seen a golf instructor analogize the Muay Thai leg kick, but I think it has a ton in common with the golf swing. Cheers, guys.

    Would love to see more info of this regarding driver. The tendency would be to have a more open face with driver, due to the loft and longer shaft.

    Another great video. The DeWiz watch shows the maximum hand speed for the best players is 12- 18 inches BEFORE impact. This isn’t to be confused with where maximum club speed is. This slowing down of the hands provides the whipping action through the ball. Bryson’s hand speed with a driver is 22mph and achieved well before impact.

    I’m going to rebut, I believe morikawa and shauflee hold their head down at impact
    And the momentum arms are what brings them out of posture.
    However the head should not be so fixated down where causes one to stall rotation, or stall the arms coming around.
    At impact their head is also like a foot behind the ball. Morikawas is
    I need to watch again their slowmos
    But I believe, 35% of the pros have their heads down, and the momentum of the arms is what pull them out of posture
    Probably more so for skinning players, the heads stays fixated, but shoulders keep rotating under the chin

    • @tylerburger7485
      @tylerburger7485 Před rokem

      After watching, I will say morikawa keeps his down alittle longer than most but then swivels his head to watch the ball
      His is definitely more delayed.

    Great video! Totally agree with allowing the head to rotate with the turning torso. It’s very hard to have a stable club face when the head drops down and the chin buries into the chest at impact. To have a more rotational golf swing with a stable club face, the head has to swivel along with the rotation.

      Jim Morrison of the Doors actually wrote a song about the golf swing when he was a film student at UCLA and the whole idea was about generating proper rotation through the ball as illustrated here in your video. Of course Morrison was way ahead of his time and played to a +4 handicap out at Riviera Country Club, which few people are even aware because they think he was all about the music. He played music to make money. But he made golf ⛳️ his mistress.

    I think the best I’ve heard this described is to have your right ear to the ball to keep you in the correct neck tilts… i over did this a while back turning out of shots and really got my path going left and way too down on the ball… the key if putting your right ear to the ball helped all of that and it was simple… another great video guys

  • @GermanBullitt
    @GermanBullitt Před rokem +2

    In my opinion the secret of the golf swing is, that the club is turned upside down on the backswing. Its like a turning a steering wheel in a car. On the upswing your body turns to the right and your arms and hands steer to the left...on the downswing your body turns to the left and your hands and arms steer to the right. I saw this secret on a youtube chanel (chagol TV) of a japanese golf teaching pro. Milo you need to watch some of his videos. So many golfers will struggle their whole life, if they do not understand this motoric foundation and the key element in the golfswing.

      Great to hear, I typically don't like too much lowering in the backswing, although you'll tend to see a tiny bit from most towards the top. Creating a good stretch and feeling tall on the way back to then sink is typically what I encourage.

    Question: Despite the aggressive head turn with the sternum do these players still keep their eyes on the ball whilst the head is turning away?

    how do you keep the arms from coming down so quickly ?And I don't mean someone who pulls the arms down. The arms definitely want to come down quick when rotating.

    Great video, Milo, as always.
    Here is a recent video from Steve Pratt, who condones a Mike Austin swing.
    czcams.com/video/KnJlY0jDqnI/video.html
    In this video he compares Ben Hogan's release with Austin's release. Pratt shows a video clip that I haven't seen before, presenting Hogan's turn around the corner. What makes it significant is that Hogan's turn is apparently very similar to yours. He basically sets his elbow next to his waist and keep turning until the ball is struck. His bent right elbow and extended right wrist do not move at all as he turns through impact. The video clip is shown various times in the early part of Pratt's video.
    Let me know if I'm way off in finding these similarities.

    • @MiloLinesGolf

      Thanks for your thoughts, it's really dependent on the player and to some extent their eye dominance. However we see the best either following the ball with their head and eyes or leading it, not staying down long past impact.
