Shaping The 9 SHOTS With Irons (Low, High, Draws, Fades)

  • I know, I know, we happened to hit a mid-high fade instead of a mid-fade and high-fade... my mistake! But hopefully, this provided you with a good visual and understanding of how to execute certain shot shapes, while subsequently interpreting corresponding Trackman/launch monitor data. Learn from Henry and I how to hit it high, hit it low, hit a draw, and hit a fade with just a few setup adjustments. Like Tiger's 9 shots, we look to hit all 9 windows and shot shapes. Hope you enjoy!

    Loved it! I learn most by watching you guys move -- athletically. When I started moving and thinking like an athlete (again) [thanks to Milo Lines Golf] my ball striking improved dramatically.

    Great video. Helpful to hear you talk about how you’re thinking to create the shapes

    What a awesome video, can see where I'm going wrong with trying to shape the ball now after seeing the data for path/club

    Superb video Milo, we all need a wide variety of different types of shots while out on the course, got to say Henrys swing looks the best I've seen it, his Ott move seems to be gone

      He's always had a really good swing and continues to make incremental changes, albeit not practicing that much.

    Video Idea: Preshot routine. There are many ways to go at it. You choose. For me, shorter is better, especially when I get over the ball. Once I address the ball, anything over a half a second of wait leads to dreaded swing thoughts and my swing gets messed up. Questions: how far do you go assessing lie, trouble/course management, wind, slope of green, etc. How far do you go selecting shot shapes (and how do I know I have no business opting for a certain shot shape?). I personally try to avoid shaping shots unless it's absolutely necessary. I think Mark Broadie said the dispersion was smaller with your dominant shot shape and larger with other shot shapes. Do you "visualize" the shot, and if so, how? How does the waggle fit in? For everyone?

    As Tiger said about Colin, he cuts it and thats it, and thats all you need to be world no.1 because this game is consistency.

    As I recall, Nicklaus said he aimed the face at the target and made his swing the start-line. Did he really do it that way, or was it just the way he taught shot shape?

    Great video showing there is more than one way to curve the ball. I noticed that Henry used D plane to affect curve by moving ball position. Would it be easier to consistently fade driver and longer clubs and draw mid to short irons because of their ball position?

    Will have to have a go on one of those machines, i only have divots to go on,shallow, straight,square and long,tho i can shape shots my problem is I hit it too straight! This means I am losing distance.I must release/square slightly early,make shallow contact with the ground,but keep a stable sq clubface down the target line,this is why on av Hybrids are my best shots tho i hit a good 60deg 65yds straight the other day but the shallow divot was straight/sq10ins!

      @@MiloLinesGolf My Dilemma is do i give up my straightness and go for extra distance or be happy with an average driver carry of 210.Although im 61yr old, Im now an egotistical 3 hcpper thanks to your great videos so **** to the slightly early release! distance here we come!

    If I came to Shadow Mt. for a lesson ,would I have to hit off a tee? Hitting off a tee,vs a ball sitting down in a little nook on the turf is like night and day. It is something I struggle with.

    • @MiloLinesGolf
      @MiloLinesGolf  Před 2 lety

      I have students hit off a tee usually when working on a movement or executing a drill, but not always. We did it here as to not ruin too much of the turf on this tee box.

    Isn’t the target the second bunker, most balls are off line. What am I missing?

      It’s the third bunker way in the distance
