Currently have the 03 EB with the 5.4 fully loaded. I just replaced the screen with some apple carplay and that was it. Ford did some crazy job with that it literally has everything a modern car has. Sunroof, cool and heated seat, defrost side mirror, memory seat, awd options, even the third row seats has ventilation fr ac and heat. At 240k miles, it still going strong keeping up with the maintenance. I love it

'03 was literally the best year because they switched to the 5.4 3V afterwards and that is when the nightmares started.

I noticed that John kept saying this looks unrecognizable from the first generation model, but I have to wonder if we're looking at the same truck. Because this was almost nothing like the first generation model. It really was a thorough redesign.

With the exception of the rear tailgate, this generation Expedition has the same doors and glass from the original Expedition in 1997. In fact, those doors and glass remained through the 2017 model year. Having owned the 1st Gen Expy and this 2003 model, I can tell you the change in driving dynamics was amazing. Ford spent the development dollars where it counted, under the body and in the cabin.

Only the front and rear were different from the first generation (on the outside). The side was carried over from the first generation and remained until the 4th generation came in 2018.

Love my fully loaded 04 Eddie Bauer 247k and everything still works except for the DVD player, before that we had a 1999, we replaced the engine at 289k with a used engine and it died again at 394k, noticed how I never mentioned anything about the transmission, rear end, radiator, a/c compressor? far as I know all that stuff had 394K on it and the a/c worked up until the day it died, though the blower motor only worked on high

Well the first generation lasted 6 years (from ‘97-‘02) before they redesigned it….they could’ve and should’ve done the same with the 2nd Gen and all subsequent generations as well.

I renember my parents having a 2003 Expedition Eddie Bauer and they bought it with 60k miles. It was in perfect condition and was loaded with options, But we were unfortunate to buy one with the 5.4 3v... at 100k it had leaks due to the roof rusting, and the engine kept going in the shop once a month. at 120k the engine started losing power and we would break down on the highway constantly, and the car alarm will keep going off and not allow us to start it, the anti thief system was faulty. We got rid of it at 125k and at that point the engine won't start up, and when it did it would only run on 4 cylinders, and the windows won't even work too. Sorry for the long comment but it was the only fancy-ish car my parents owned when I was younger. Loved it except for that krap 3v.
