I don’t know if you know but if you hover the mini 4 about 9 meters for a few seconds before flying off it will do precision landing to a few inches on its RTh
Agreed, I go to around 5-6 meters and always returns to within a couple of inches
I believe if you set the car park as the POI you can set each waypoint to have the gimbal set on the POI so you don't need to keep aiming the camera at it for each waypoint might be easier for next time!

Thank you Simon, this is really a feature a lot of people was waiting for on a Mini series. What you could have added is how to STORE the mission, give it a name and then RECALL it by his name anytime later on in order to replay the exact same mission in various light conditions or night...👍👍👍

@@vidiviewgmailYes, you just have to tap the small icon on the upper left corner that look like a page. A default name is proposed. You can edit the name by taping the small pencil on the right of the name. When you want to replay the mission, get into the waypoint function and tap again the small page icon, the list of missions shows up, then select the one you need👍👍
The mini 4 pro does this. You can save the profile and return later for a night shot. You must take off from the exact location you started the first time.

@@hOttOddYfAiLz I use the app 'what 3 words' to record the spot I took off from.
Even a simple, non-interesting subject can benefit from a smooth aerial video. If you wanted to tell a friend about the 'new' dog park, this video would make them want to go there.

Thank you for showing us this feature. It would be perfect if we could have some control between waypoints, when the drone change angle between before and after waypint, as with Litchy, smoother
You have given me the confidence to try waypoints on my mini 4. Looks like you may have forgotten to open up your antenna on the cont during flight.
Just wanted to thank you for answering my question about screen recordings the other day, the bit about adding audio. I couldn't get it to work until I changed the settings to record to SD card. Turns out that it is the only way it will work. I could see and play the screen recording but no audio to be heard until I changed that setting
awesome, I have had the mavic air 2 since 2020 and hated not having proper way points. This is exactly what I have been waiting for! Just ordered mine today :) Has it glitched anymore since that one time in the video?

waypoint issue , flying from a low hight waypoint 1 to a higher waypoint 2 , the Mini 4 takes a downwards curve from 1 to 2 , same as it takes an outwards curve when doing corners , that could easy lead to a loss of the drone i,e taking it too low crossing over a road or a river with trees on the bank , I just want it to take and upwards slope when low to high , oh and maybe a new option for straight line changes where it pauses then turns towards the next point , same as the choice Litchi gives you.
I see that you also use a Hollyland microphone on your RC2 controller. I have a Hollyland Lark C1 and it works fine on my RC but not on the RC2. Did I switch something wrong or how about that? How do you do that and what exactly do you use?
I have been having Inaccuracies between the Drones GPS and the Maps used by DJI. Some times close, other times up to 50 yards off in any direction. Puzzled for sure. Most would never notice.
That's strange! Try re-downloading the maps maybe? If it is a GPS issue, might have to get in touch with DJI.
Hi Simon. Is it possible to run a saved waypoint and film in horizontal orientation and then run it again and film in vertical orientation? I have a client that needs both!

I’m wondering if the waypoints are uploaded to the drone like the are in the larger Mavic. In other words, with my older, larger Mavic, I could upload the waypoints, and the drone would fly the mission, even if it lost contact with the controller.
So, is this version being controlled by the controller, or, is the mission uploaded to the drone?

interesting video. Thanks for posting. Some questions: is there provision to store and recall several complete missions for future reference? How many? Can you plan missions on a computer and upload them to the drone? Can you save missions from the drone onto a computer?
That glitch was somewhat unnerving.
The continuous gimbal movement between waypoints was impressive.
I am not sure on how many, but yes you can save your missions for future flights!

Thanks for your question. I am not sure as GPS connection could be weak and it might not be precise enough anyway for that purpose/.
Thanks for the demo. Do you know if it is possible to have the drone start recording for, say, 30 seconds at the first position before starting to move to waypoint 2, and then at the last waypoint, continue recording for 30 seconds?
You're welcome. No you can't select a recording time, only start and stop. However, you can add additional way points in if you want to start / stop recording at certain intervals of the flight route.

Do the waypoints record if you zoomed in or out with the camera at one of the points?
Yes they do, and it will perform the zoom you set too!
@@SimonsDrones what do you think the chances are that they add video waypoints to the Mini 3 Pro? It's capable of waypoints in Hyperlapse so there's no reason why it can't do it in video mode.
I’ve found that the waypoint mision is aborted when a gust of wind blows the drone off course a little.
It probably was a bird that interrupted your first waypoint mission. I occasionally see birds flying close to my Mini 2 as if they think it's a bird and they are trying to intimidate it. Thank you so much for your video.
You're welcome! Yes, a bird is the only thing I can think of.
- I understand From April 2024 sub 250g drones in the EU will need to carry the C-0 label. The C-0 classification does indeed lock you to max 120m in Europe, I can see UK will follow!
- CAA Rules in the UK are all over the place at the moment and most of the UK rules are mirrored from the EU.
- CAA UK Rules say must have manual control of your drone at all times?
- The we have all these options i.e. automatic waypoints, quick shots and active track etc. So to me using any off these options with any DJI Drones is illegal?
- Remote ID! Well, we'll be tracked and data gathered and fined just like cars we''ll be getting fines in the post for flying 2 miles away, too hight, too fast etc.
- DJI do a great job, but like others say, they are getting like Apple - new drone so need new controller, batteries etc.
- DJI Care Refresh? one or two years, and then small payments to repair!
- Why not if you have ie. Mini 3 pro, Mini 4 Pro, air 3, mavic etc. Just pay around £100 a year for all drones together insurance, instead of DJI Care Refresh for each drone costing hundreds?
- Anxiety whilst flying, Drone Assit says you can fly here, then get where ever just to see signs saying NO DRONE popping up everywhere, am I going to be fined, arrested etc.
- DJI Mini Pro's are great but try and fly one over the cliffs of dover in Average Wind Speeds lol Bewared!
Sorry, I could go on and on with this list, but people just need too know, I for one can not see me flying in 2024/2025 never mine buying a drone.
It’s more about being in control at all times rather than having manual control at all times. Otherwise auto take off and auto RTH would be against regs which is also a feature on most drones.
If you set up waypoints and then walk away from your controller then yeah that would be an issue.
I'm curious, now that DJI has finally incorporated waypoints into the Mini series, how do you plan on using this feature in your flights? Got any creative or innovative ideas for waypoints with the Mini 4 Pro?

way points is on the mini 3 pro....
Only for Hyperlapse, on the Mini 4 Pro you can use waypoints for recording video. That is huge!
You're a hundred+ feet off the ground with no way to know if the flight route is accurate. There are no obstacles. The mission you flew isn't a good use for waypoints and not a good case study. My missions mostly fail with obstacle detected, but they're much close to the ground.
Totally useless feature, I am afraid.
I have a Mavic 3 and the Mini 4 pro, with same features, and believe me, that gets nearer to what I would call a toy.
Not just because it stopped.... My Mavic 3 does it sometimes when I fly a a circle automatically... that happened....
It is not a professional feature at all.... So you have to fly the drone to choose the points. Use perhaps a battery just for programming a path badly?
If you try to do it from home with the map, this feature gets even worse....
the maximum zoom to the ground does not get to the ground enough, so you will never be accurate on creating points....
Besides.... Doing it on the controller?... That makes no sense.... They will not do it to work from the laptop....
check what litchi or even Dronelink can do..... But our chinese "friends" just think for themselves. They do not want any third party app to get into their drones because they feel they are loosing money, so we have to forget about their delivering their SDK to third party companies.
Just sad.
The more I use this feature, the more I realized about this fact. DJI does NOT care about any of their customers.
I'm not crazy about the wasted charge cycles to set up this stuff. Be nice if there was an app/program to set this up in the office and save the batteries for just flying. DJI is smiling all the way to the Bank.
