I have never thought banksy art was terrible. I just never understood why that art is held to such high regard. When there are people on youtube with only a couple thousand subscribers, and any single one of their pieces have more detail, rendering, emotion, story and impact, than all of banksy's work combined together, and multiplied by 3.
I think he is a good artist, but like too many artists he is overrated meaning that the art he does is way way overpriced.
He was the buyer and he was the seller at that shredded painting auction and for sure the auction house was in on it, as you said the battery would not last long and the frame was 7 inches thick and weighed a ton compared to all others of its size. People are so gullible.
I do like that he at least uses his platform to bring attention to certain issues that should be talked about sometimes.
And afterwards, the price skyrocketed

Rob when I was a kid we used to peg playing cards to the rear frame of the bicycle to go clack clack clack against the spokes and pretend we were on a motorcycle. These days the older CHILDREN have clack clack backfiring exhausts fitted to their blinged up Nissan Micra’s and on credit Mercedes. Have a go at those noisy knobs please.
We used to do the same, My 3 year old son just learnt to ride his new bike in Thailand and does the same with a drinks can.
By the way, there are playing cards called bicycle
I've never understood it. It's JUST GRAFFITI. I'm not buying into calling things "street art" when they are graffiti. He's not covering the entire wall with a painting. The ideas have been said A MILLION TIMES IN THE 80s and 90s. There's nothing original there, it's not complicated, and half the time he's using a frigging STENCIL. There's nothing there to elevate to greatness. NOTHING AT ALL. I'm angry because this degrades the art world and the lack of objectivity is staggering.
Amusing rant, keep it up but I thought you should know the chimp with the Warhol painting was by Dolk not Blek Le Rat, the chimp with a banana wasn't by Banksy and the three guys with TV's on their heads wasn't by Banksy either. And people did rat stencils before Blek too...its not exactly a big concept when thinking what to stencil in an alleyway. 100% agree on battery life though. Feel free to abuse me in the comments. He's a business man and he's doing very well at you can't knock someone for having a good business plan but at the same time I understand there are so many spraycan artists that have phenomenal talent that don't get the same recognition can I say there are other graffiti writers that are making the same impact 1up crew are a relentless graffiti crew and they're doing exhibitions and selling nobody questions them I say fair fucking play to them you don't have to like this this shit to spend all your money on it one day it might make you a fortune get in while the prices are low ✌🏻

I consider Banksy the Thomas Kinkade of the street art/ and somewhat graffiti world. But at least Kinkade has artistic talent. Banksy just does stencils and anyone can do that

As a giant of a man, does Rob Mulholland have an opinion on little shitty cars that pull right into car park spaces? You know the type; Fiat Punto's and the like that hide so far into a bay it makes it look as though the space is available so you turn into that parking row only to discover it is occupied. And don't even get me started on mobility scooters driving on the roads...
Banksy is a genius who took graffiti / street art messaging to the next level. Rob and others are simply jealous of his famous artistry and notoriety.

There is a lot of real great graff artist out there.. he is mediocre..
I used to like him when I was like about 13 but then I learned how to paint and started to think about things for longer than 5 minutes.
It's not that I think he's bad I think he has some talent but where's the animal right activists for the elephant. His stuff lacks depth so I was wondering why it was selling for so much and why it's so famous over other more moving stuff. Yes I can see why your pissed but farts a fashion show and the people with the money run it and everything else even if they fart out their opinions like an old tired delivery truck.
Anybody who has to use a stencil to create their piece to perfection wasn't made to make it anyway. Like there's kids in elementary school that try to learn not to trace drawings.
Oh and is it true all of the Manchester City senior and under 23 players have put a transfer request to move to Newcastle.
It always looked like boring stencil crap. I don't understand why people care about clowns like Banksy. Anyone can do this and it's not like he was so edgy he actually made a statement or his "art" had a controversial intent.
