I nearly started crying watching this again. Definetly teared up. This interval act alone symbolically puts Eurovision as an entity into a whole. Favourite interval act ever to be honest. I remember seeing it watching the 2010 contest, it brought such an amazing vibe/energy, I danced around along as well until I was breathless and it was just magical and every time it brings be back. I'll never forget this haha. I'm pretty sure this was what made me fall in love with Eurovision.
I remember watching this with my parents when we visited the Europa Park and I fell in love with the song and everything around it. After this I was listening to this song on repeat. I've not been listening to it for quite some time so this brought tears to my eyes, too.. such a magical moment.
It might seem strange, but that flashmob makes me cry every time I watch it, because it is so important to remember that we are all the same, no matter what country we are from. They did such a great job of showing that we are all united.
This is the best interval act in history. This shows how Eurovision unites all the people around the world. Amazingly stunning! Please react to the interval act of Loreen in 2013
Gosh, this brings back memories! As to the how: the Norwegian producers got the idea, then contacted the artistes and asked for a song with a certain speed/beat. Then they got dance choreographers to choreograph a dance suitable for a flash mob but that people could dance in their living rooms, then they uploaded videos months before onto CZcams. And it went viral among dance schools ans ESC fans. I remember practicing it with my 6 and 4 year olds.
Every single time I watch this I have goosebumps and someone is cutting onions. Every. Single. Time! How they did it logistically: They studied the dance pre show with the audience and of course there were "professional" dancers in the arena. Most of the footage from all over Europe was pre-recorded.
Marc Exner The footage of Hamburg, Germany was shown live though. They always have a huge Eurovision party over there, and they managed to include the live pictures on point, which makes it even more impressive!
Yes, of course the dancing in the arena was live, also was the footage from Reeperbahn, Hamburg. But everything else was pre-recorded. The Glow-Dance became some kind of tradition in the following years. I was at the Reeperbahn in 2014 and we did the dance.
Well, as far as I remember according to NRK , I think they stated during the broadcast that the cameras in peoples home, was live. But anyway, this happen so long ago , so it does not really matter anymore.
If Norway is hosting again in the future I hope we can do something similar like this and showcase the whole of Europe and not just ourself. This brings back childhood memories truly a special moment when the spirit of Eurovision is showcased like this❤
the beauty of this was that it was all done live at the same time, which was quite an undertaking. All the cities were live as we saw them and all the family/group home views were as they came, not prerecorded. A couple of notes, The Ukraine "home" scene was Verka Serduchka & her Mother. The other note, HRH person is the crown princess and her children (remember, Norway is a monarchy of sorts.). That guy in the North Sea is just some tongue & cheek fun.
This contest was hosted in Oslo, Norway in Telenor Arena (if you remember Rybak winning in 2009). The song is "Glow" by the hip-hop duo Madcon (who are also Norwegian). At 7:18 are members of the Royal family.
Correction: It's located between Great Britain, Scandinavia, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and France. The sea you are thinking of is the Norwegian Sea and the Greenland Sea.
It was incredible.. I just feel like so many people from so many different countries united into one global community by the magic of eurovision :) So much love from Ukraine!)
W O W! Have actually never seen this before! The singers are Norwegian MadCom.and it is from the ESC final in 2010, Norway won in 2009 with Fairytale. The song is build on MadCon's own Glow and it is a co-op with a duo called Element. They made the biggest Flashmob in the world that year. GOOD ONE! Proud to be Norwegian
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I am so happy that finally you got to see the - imo - most beautiful and uniting moment in Eurovision history ❤️ Europe dancing together, this was when I fell in love with it! Most times the host country just puts last years winner or another artist on the stage to fill time during the voting process (and they deserve it, don't get me wrong), but Norway planned this huge project, contacted all the other broadcasters in advance, shot all the material and even managed to include that live shot from Hamburg where the crowd was watching together right in that moment. I also like the living room shots, cause they reflect the typical tradition of watching together with your family and/or friends. The song was played a lot all over Europe the following summer and always gave me goosebumps because of this memory! This was a masterpiece by the Norwegian broadcaster and something that hasn't been done before or afterwards again!
Before I even watch the video, YES. So happy you saw this. Not necessarily for the reaction, I just wanted you to see what Eurovision is capable of and what it should be about.
It's so refreshing to watch a channel that's so free of negativity, congratulations to you Jake that after all this time, every post has been so positive and embracing - you're quite unique in this crazy internet world. Eurovision was meant to link and unite people, and you are doing that in the best possible way. Thank you
2010 didn't have that many good songs in my opinion - the only songs i still listen to are the german and swedish song.. But when that's being said i wanna say that 2010 was a really special year for several reasons - After Russia's propaganda show in 2009 where they blew it completely out of proportions, it was SOO refreshing to see how the Norwegian broadcaster showed they could still make a great contest with a simple show and stagedesign - In stead of showcasing themselves as a "great nation" they focused more on what eurovision is about, bringing all these people and nations together, which laid the foundation for the development of the contest in the following years - and then Germany ended up winning with such a simple song, which no one thought possible, and it was the final prove that Western Europe has just as much a chance to win after many years with eastern dominance :)
Yep I think it was one of the 'cheapest' productions since the turn of the century, even Norway's own 1996 production was more expensive. And that was impressive. Good ideas and execution > throwing money at it until it's shiny
I knew your reaction to this would come sooner or later ;-) An amazing flashmob. Most of the footage was shot before the show, but still the Norwegians did a grat job putting it all together during a live show. :-D
Close to cry remembering this over here.. You should react also to the interval act of SF2 2014 "Eurovision Dance". Not a flashmob but it's so emotional too. Just fans dancing, having fun and rocking the stage, first class material! One of my favourites intervals of all time, like this one /watch?v=d4Pim6d6R9Q
Oh I miss such moments at modern ESC, it has been already 8 years... Btw, answering to your logistical doubts: well, all the European broadcasters communicate and that is why we have the ESC at the first place, so obviously it was not so easy to organize something like that, but it showed once more that when people put their effort, everything is possible.
That was definitely not the usual Eurovision happening 😂. Entertaining definitely though! You should react to Lako Je Sve from this same year. It’s a huge crime that it didn’t qualify in my opinion
This is my 2nd favourite interval act. My favourite is Emmelie De Forest performing Rainmaker in 2014, it has that same feel of people being brought together trough music. That one would also make a great reaction.
Nice! Was hoping you'd do this one, I remember the goosebumps when this happened... And allow me to suggest *Christine Guldbrandsen - Alvedansen* from 2006 for your viewing pleasure
This song made history in germany :) i realy miss the times when my mom turned the music on when we drove home in the car :) good old memories :....) i would like to move 11 years back
In 2010 Europe was united. Now it has been torn apart by EU, politicans, covid regulations and war. This reminds me of the good times with right of free movement, right of assembly and free speech.
You should definitely check out Georgia 2007, it was very much an underrated masterpiece that really shows off Georgian culture - arguably the best song Georgia ever sent to the Contest!
Carnt believe the EBU blocked your reaction to love love peace peace. I really wanna see it. Any chance of them letting your have it back up? I'm guessing you might have a Simalir issue with this video. Do you get to know why they take it down? Loving your work jake your amazing and I love watching you and see you share stories and your views with Eurovision fans all over Ps I must have missed 2010 because I don't remember this. I love the meaning behind it though Europe together, it's such a shame we seem to have gone in the other reaction in the UK x
I love this! Haven't seen it before.. Can you please react to The Netherlands 2009 or 2010? I loved your reaction to Netherlands 1975 hahaha! 2010 is sung in Dutch, translation of the title is I'm in love (ik ben verliefd). Really hope you will react to one of these. Thanks for the great videos
At a time flashmob was already a 2 year old trend, but this one crowned them all. As to the logitiscs part, they announced that there will be a 'flashmob during the final concert in Oslo and everyone can apply in XYZ website' durin national finals. Dance routine was uploaded to CZcams (yes, CZcams already existed 8 years ago!) , videos are still upp - just type in Your search box 'eurovision flashmob dance routine' P.S. the song is by band Madcon - 'Glow'. They were quite big at the day, just after their mega single 'Beggin'
Jessica Mauboy performed at the semi final 2 of 2014 as a symbolic act (nobody even knew they were gonna participate the next year). czcams.com/video/tUsJi8nKsj0/video.html It was pretty good. And the moment when they "literally" drop Australia on the UK was SAAAVAGE HAHAHAAHA. It's not just a song, it had an act before (tho it was sung too).
Speaking of 2010. That is the only year ever that Sweden did not go to the final. You should react to that entry. czcams.com/video/5P1neQKN-1k/video.html

Personally, my favorite interval act was in 2007. I was such a fan of Apocalyptica, I almost died when i saw them. Sadly our broadcoaster took a moment for a 10 minute ad during it :(
yesssssssssssss, and he wrote the music of three more entries "Lejla" (Bosnia and Herzegovina 2006, 3rd place), "Oro" (Serbia 2008, 6th place ) and "Adio" (Montenegro 2015, 13th place).
I still think “Love Love Peace Peace”, “That’s Eurovision”, and Stefan Raab covering “Satellite” were better. Btw that’s the Crown Princess of Norway and 2 of her 3 kids.
Norway did a great job with this interval act :))

2010 is when I fell in love with Eurovision, and it was all because of this interval act.
Omg, yeah I remember, too, it was such a magical moment, we were all in awe
BTW Kairit, it was the lady who won that made me fall in love with Eurovision. My mom and I travelled to Vienna for the 2015 event as well.
I remember watching this with my parents when we visited the Europa Park and I fell in love with the song and everything around it. After this I was listening to this song on repeat.

This is one of the best interval shows ever in Eurovision, major props to Norway for making that.
The blonde woman in the middle is Princess Mette Marit of Norway and her children. This whole thing makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside

Yeah, there should be a rule that you can't participate in Eurovision when you're actively invading another member. That would bar Russia most years.
