How I Make MASALA CHAI for My Mother-in-Law Recipe ☕

- This the easiest and tastiest Masala Chai recipe EVER! I learnt it from the Chaiwallas on the streets of India. Now I make it every day for my Indian mother-in-law and me. I'll also tell you what makes the perfect Indian milk tea and show you how Sudhama Chaiwala in Delhi's North Campus makes his chai on the street.
Ingredients (Serves: 2)
2 cups full cream or single toned milk. Buffalo is tastiest for chai.
1.5 tablespoons of supermarket quality black tea (Tata Gold Tea or Taj Mahal Tea are popular).
2 tablespoons of sugar.
1/4 teaspoon chai masala (Recipe • Tastiest Chai Masala R... ).
1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder.
1. Dump all ingredients into a pot on a medium flame and bring to the boil.
2. Bring to the boil so the liquid starts climbing up the pan, then turn down the heat and let simmer. 3. Do this 3 times. The colour should be nice and brown now.
4. Strain into teacups and enjoy!

I had a ready made masala tea from Sainsbury’s, a English store here in England, tasted terrible and sooo expensive, nothing like a tea directly from anyone of the countries in the subcontinent.

your mother in law is lucky to have son in law like you. The tip you gave is really needed because even my mom like clean kitchen. One tip I would give you is always press the chai patti after putting tea in cup to get the excess tea out from the tea leaves. Thats a middle class way of having tea.

I'd been making India tea wrong this whole decade! I used everything you said but included water (learned from a South Indian housemate). Thank you so so so much for sharing the secret of using 100% milk. I just made my best tea ever!

I think that is my first CZcams comment ever. I returned to my home country Germany 15 years ago and since then I tried each and every chai recipe to make a cup of chai that comes at least close to a real chaiwala chai. I was sure it's impossible because our milk is different, never got more than 50% of the real taste. But today it was 98%! So happy!!!

Thank you for this. Yesterday I made my first home made Indian Chai, not exactly the same, I had a jar called "Chai Train" with all the herbs in it plus I added some fresh ginger and I used 2% milk (no buffalo milk here) and about 1/4 water as I lose some when it boils, plus I used local honey instead of sugar. I boiled it up 3 times as you showed and it was amazing! I'm having my second one now. :)

I‘m very thankful for that video here - I love Masala Chai so much - last time I went to India, my Indian colleagues bought me immediately a 1 litre can of Masala Chai and another one gave me some suggestions about some different brands of instant powder... but still it‘s not the same like buying it on the street... the biggest issue actually is, how to get this special masala spicy here in Europe.
I'm the masala chaiwala in my house, but I have to follow my wife's recipe (masala chai mix is not available, here in Italy, but it's so easy and tasty to make it from scratch) ...hope to meet you soon, when we can travel back to India. Stay safe.
