- It's finally here! I've gone and purchased a Defender 90 TD5 that's going to be a big part of the channel going forwards.
In this video, I give a walk through of everything the new Defender has, the problems and a sneak peak at the plans for modifying it.
I can't wait to get stuck into this build!

Congratulations on the purchase of the 90, looks like a great starting point and quite a lot of good kit on it already, like the rear wheel carrier - no saggy rear door! I had a TD5 90 which I swapped for a Puma 110 (needed extra space for kids and dog). I loved the TD5 - like you said it feels more analogue. But I love my Puma too. Hard to believe they can feel so different. Enjoy - you have the best of both worlds! Always look forward to your videos and they have really helped with some of my jobs, so thank you

I suppose what mods you do depends on what you actually want to use it for. Mine is the same car basically but I put in a sturdy dog guard and turned the back into a cargo bay basically with leisure batteries, cool box, spares & tools, camping gear etc. and plenty of room for taking bulky stuff to the tip etc etc, an actual working vehicle as it was designed to be. Form follows function!

Hi Zak, I’m just coming to the end of stage 1 of my TD5 90 build. I also bought a hardtop van like yours, I’ve done quite a bit to it but the stand out things that have made a big difference to the driving experience are reducing the rear bulkhead (not removed), used the mud kit which worked well, along with their seat riser rails gets you up and back in your seating position, much comfier. The other game changer is the fitting of one piece side windows for the back from Masai, you’ll find visibility at junctions and when manoeuvring is terrible, especially once you’ve got your seat back further. All straight forward jobs. I look forward to watching your progress.

Nice truck Zac. Different from Scout but that’s what it’s all about. Can totally get why you need a new project. Nice base to work from. Seeing as it’s a pre 2007, I’d go heritage look. I fact I’d even strip the roof and side panels off and go soft top as you have scout/hard top. Colour wise, if the paintwork needs that much attention, now is the time to change if you want to. It’s your car and I’m sure you already know which way you’re going. Look forward to the vids. 👍🏻

Congratulation for you finding another Defender! Yey TD5 ! Last of real Defender! I am curious if you can make it into daily driver? standard lift with road tyres? I love the blue! I will not change it.

Looks like a great project. Looking forward to seeing it progress. The plans you mention are largely cosmetic. Any need for any important work on this vehicle? Chassis, engine etc?
Thanks! Mechanically the car is sound. I’m going to look to do Undersealing treatment to the chassis and any preventive measures to the bulkhead too.

I think sound deadening is definitely a must particularly with the throaty TD5. I’ve fitted a full lucari interior to my 90 and they do some great looking heritage style seats and cubby’s. @olive_the_defender90.
