      There SHOULD be. With how reliant people are on scheduled training exercise, if you don't train any singular muscle, it starts underperforming. You need a strong, supported spine to carry and
      hold-fast whatever you are doing with the arms you are training to carry more than your spine may be able to handle.

      You might be joking, but this is a great way to get into fitness for some people. When Aaron's videos started to inspire me to fix my posture and eventually work out, that was the first and most important thing I ever did. Cheap-ass me used that exercise to inspire myself by realizing that I didn't need money to buy exercise equipment. To this day I still sometimes challenge myself the same way. To see progress from real-life activities instead of just increasing weights is inspiring as hell.

    I love how you explain the reasoning for the exercises. I would argue with the physiotherapists where I'm from. I'd explain my reasoning & they would agree. I'd have to explain to them I've been training & studying this stuff for years. Sometimes mistakes are made & then I learn from that mistake

    Farmers walks are a core of my training program. It's a very natural and realistic exercise that strengthens nearly every muscle of the body. I'll have to try this.

    You definitely need to alternate the side you carry 50/50… I work in construction and I put my left side pelvis out of whack because I carried single buckets on the right side. Result, had the necessary treatment. Carry two buckets now, 1 each side and do regular deadlifts… no problems since

      I had back pain before. Experimented with dumbell farmers carry and dumbbell suit case carry. Farmers carry make it worse while suit case carry makes the pain go away.
      In my case what work best is carry weight with only one side but alternating the side.

    The band makes for a killer forearm workout it as well. The constant bouncing causing you to need more grip.

    I can testify that this exercise and others like it can indeed help eliminate back pain. I have bulged disks in lower back. When I would squat there would be increased pressure from the bulge that pushed against a nerve that would radiate down my leg. Started focusing on increasing core stability with this drill and others similar to it. Now my bulge still exists but when I squat I have much better stability thus the nerve doesn't get aggravated and my pain is drastically reduced to nearly completely gone. If you have back problems like bulged and herniated disks seek out medical advice that helps you find ways to improve your core stability and your back pain will improve. Worst thing you can do is to do nothing. Thanks for the quality info as always SU!!

    I've started doing Dumbbell hold marches daily and realize that my back feels so good. 20lbs per hand. Low hold marches 40secs x3, hold at shoulder 40 secs x3 and hold overhead 40 secs x3 (the overhead kicks my butt every time but I do feel better)

      A weight that allows you to do the 45s feeling intensity. It's definetly a safe exercise in that range of 45s.

    I do the suitcase lift (I didn't know it was called that) and also carry a powerbag to focus on functional strength and get that natural if you take a break from lifting due to work.

    You want more stability during any exercise for safety. Work the "stabilizer muscles" directly. There's no such thing as a "stabilizer muscle". No muscle only stabilizes.

      The app Complete Anatomy is exactly like this one. It has a lot of details, medical student are using it. You can see the skeleton for free, for everything else you have to pay. I hope that helps :)
