Potentially the best option, as it's a no-witnesses method of wiping out a whole cannibalistic demon cult, and still fits roleplaying in some cases as opposed to just reloading an old save after seeing them, then using the knowledge to hunt down each member sneakily with a character who wouldn't know.

@@TheMbangel Yeah, killing the priest is the intended choice for characters who don't rightly react to a cannibal by just killing her on sight for being an abomination. I think the option to identify and slaughter the cult was an unintended nice choice as a result of non-essential status on the characters. There's no hint at being able to do it, but then again, killing Astrid is the same way and was clearly considered as an option. Hard to be sure here, but it doesn't seem planned so much as a coincidental path that happens to be good.

It's interesting that he can actually do that when other princes rely on indirect killing. It might mean that being one of the original Daedra, Mora is just stronger, but with both Tamriel killings being in close proximity to his own artifacts, it could also just be that he has more power around them than just in random places. There's also Sanguine directly walking in taverns but it might just be that someone summoned him on his day and he just stayed to have fun, which certainly fits him.

The cannibal quest is the most disturbing for me because it requires you the player to actually do some things in order for it to happen. All other things were all done very long ago or didn't require the players direct involvement to happen. Say what you will about Harmeus Mora, he just killed 3 people with your involvement. It's not like he demanded you to violate and eat them too.

I think since we know it was on Bal's summoning day, that same day was probably when Harkon did the sacrificing a thousand people, with all three being turned that same day, along with the hundreds of innocent people dying. Possibly the worst thing in Skyrim's history. It's pretty obvious that it was rather scarring for Serana with her refusal to ever really discuss it beyond saying it happened, and being hurt by it so much that she's not comfortable with temples of any kind, even one to Mara. We know from that particular thing that there was in fact some kind of temple where it happened, meaning it must have been mainland Skyrim.

I thought the darkest was the ghost kid in Morthal. There's another ghost kid in Skyrim who, at the end of the quest, says something like "now I can finally rest" and I don't think it's even the same kid.
But even the darkest stuff in Skyrim pales next to Enderal. Skyrim was a soft M rating for the most part. It just had some blood, and a few dark themes. Enderal went pretty hard on its M rating (assuming it was even rated, being a mod). But, as it's a Skyrim mod, it's certainly worth mentioning.

Poor Serana, getting violated like that. Getting so violated that you basically die is just a fate worse than death itself. I do wonder if you can get violated by Hircine or any other daedras. You probably can, but in Serana's case, she got violated by Molag Bal, who lives in Cold Harbor. Her mom, Valerica, also got violated, but how Harkon and the Snow elf vampire we fight with Serana got vampirism, i don't really know. All i know is that they both became vampires, of which Harkon is quite powerful.
Personally, i've always sided with the Dawnguard and Isran, because i don't like the idea of being a walking corpse with a serious case of craving blood. I prefer to be a werewolf. I prefer to be a bad dog, so to speak

    • @UnswimmingFishYT
      @UnswimmingFishYT Před 5 měsíci +4

I know this may be too long for some people to read, but if I find the time, I'll just make a video exploring this subject.
Harkon was rewarded his vampirism for sacrificing in his own words, a thousand innocent lives, making him arguably the most horrible person in all of Skyrim. His being a former king sometime before the Allessian Empire started suggests it was probably his own people he killed, implying he not only sent a thousand innocent souls to Coldharbour, but probably did it to just his own people, making it even worse. The point where he became a vampire lord is probably when his kingdom collapsed.
The part where it gets really interesting is that Serana confirmed already Castle Volkihar was previously owned by someone else who had a sun dial. Since it's clearly Nordic construction and not Snow Elven, this indicates either Harkon ruled an area somewhere else and then moved into the castle soon after his turning, or his kingdom was ruled from Volkihar, but controlled a collection of smaller settlements on the mainland. If this is the case, it would mean that some previous king also ruled from Volkihar and Harkon took over after he died.
It's also unclear how early this means Harkon had to have ruled. We know from Serana that it was before Cyrodiil had an empire, and the Ayleids were themselves an empire. So for Harkon to have ruled as a king in Skyrim, it would mean he'd have to have been one of the first Nords ever to live in Skyrim. My guess is that when Atmoran migration first happened, the humans in Skyrim were ruled in a collection of kingdoms like High Rock has, and that Harkon ruled one in the northwest. We know that Saarthal was sacked by Snow Elves, but there's no information on how many other places the earliest Nords may have settled. The only way to completely reconcile a Nord king in Skyrim ruling before Cyrodiil had an empire is that he was around in the same general time as Saarthal was prospering, but was forgotten by history entirely.
Ahzidal's story makes it more confusing, as he's stated to have learned magic from the Ayleids after the sacking of Saarthal.
To aim for maximum compatibility with other information, I have one idea as to how it all works. Saarthal was one of the earliest Nord settlements in Skyrim, but there were others at that time which the historians have no record of. One of these, I'm going to call the Volkihar Kingdom for convenience, and that was in what's now called Haafingar. In these very early years, Nords mostly lived in relative peace near Snow Elves, but were probably never especially friendly like is usually the case with man and mer civilizations. Sometime very early on, the Volkihar Kingdom had a different king, but he died, and and was replaced by Harkon, who I imagine being a rather greedy and terrible ruler. During this time, the Ayleids were present in Cyrodiil, but hadn't formed an empire yet and were governed differently, explaining Serana's confusion at the mention of a Cyrodiilic empire.
Harkon then ruled for likely a few decades, and started to think about his life ending. Wanting to avoid it, he made a pact with Molag Bal, who he may even have worshipped already considering he's so in favor of might-means-right and dominating the weak, and agreed to give him a thousand souls in exchange for being made a pureblooded vampire. He then waited for Molag Bal's summoning day and got him from Oblivion to claim the thousand subjects, completely destroying his kingdom in the process, but being given immense amounts of power for it. On that same day, Serana and Valerica were both offered to him for the horrible process of how they too were turned.
In reaction to the mass death, other Nordic settlements developed various horror stories, likely with truth to them, and sightings of monstrous abominations started to occur from the vampires' feedings. Eventually, Harkon started the Volkihar vampire clan in this time as a sort of new version of his former kingdom, and they developed the tendency to take thralls, many of which then were probably Snow Elves due to the main Nord population in the immediate area of the castle being gone.
Later on, Saarthal gets sacked, and the Snow Elves wipe out all remaining Nordic settlements, then Ysgramor's story happens with the five hundred and they take over Skyrim, starting with Jorrvaskr and then building Windhelm and continuing their expansion. Ahzidal is found along the way and helps them by enchanting their stuff, explaining why a mere five hundred was so powerful, and gets his revenge in the process, likely being involved in the last battle on Solstheim where the Snow Prince died, then ruling as a dragon priest until the Dragon War messed it up for him.
Once the Nordic expansion reach Haafingar again, they found traces of Harkon's evil work, and noticed an old castle out on an island, but were afraid of it due to the vampires and nobody alive remembering that it was one of their ancestors' buildings. Eventually this leads to Castle Volkihar's current reputation as the entire place being cursed as ferrymen at Solitude, Windhelm, and Dawnstar say it is. It becomes known only as the scary place locals are afraid to visit, not understanding what it is, and the Volkihar clan becomes known as being present in Skyrim with the horror stories of vampires ambushing victims from the ice, but the two never get connected by common people, and nobody ever figures out where these vampires come from.

I do not think Hermaeus killed the scholar. The reason they usually go through intermediaries is because it's not that simple for them. You'll note the only other real kill we see is by Hermaeus again at the Skaal village, and that's because he interfaced with a daedric artifact and allowed it to happen. What's more likely is that the scholar achieved chim upon reading/interacting with/finding the Oghma Infinium and zero-summed as he couldn't handle it. Which you could argue is an indirect kill by Hermaeus via one of his artifacts, but still. Him getting ashed isn't Hermaeus zapping him in the mortal plane.

There is this quest that activates after you reach a certain level, Its called “The Break of Dawn” where you are task with entering the dungeons beneath the Statue of Meridia, retrieving the Dawnbraker sword and killing the necromancer who carts in dozens of bodies of the dead Civil War soldiers and performs rituals in a attempt to create his personal undead army.
Seeing all those half charcoaled Imperial and Stormcloak copses everywhere inside was pretty gruesome and eerie when I was first playing the game.

I haven't even fuckin' played any of the other games, and...no the actual hell it fucking isn't. Not to mention many of the things you show on this channel use pre-established lore. Y'know...from the previous games?
