"Just because I'm passionate about something doesn't mean I need to go overboard and buy all the things." MIC DROP This is something I have been learning about myself in the past couple of years. I'm trying to appreciate the things other people use and share from AFAR.
After spending way too much time consuming planner and stationary content, I have bought stuff because others have bought it but in end up regretting it. I'm so grateful for this content, it's so refreshing! It is also good to know I'm not the only one who has bought stickers to not use them, I thought I was broken 😂
The zebra Sarasa Grand pen body is meant to be refillable. Because the refill is gel, once there is impact, the ink may skip and scratch due to air bubbles (not visible) in the body... you can just get a new refill. If you do a search online, you might find the pen body being compatible with other brands' refills as well.
I love the idea of the Happy Planner sticker books. I have many and try to use those, but I haven’t bought new ones in a couple of years. I’ve learned colored pens and highlighters are more efficient for my life. The stickers take more time.
A Primary Kind of Life’s digital teacher planner has been a LIFESAVER for me! I’m going on year 3 using it. I can link EVERYTHING in my planner and use it while teaching, it’s amazing!
Hi!😊 Another great video!! I am a stickler when it comes to the happy planner sticker books and I prefer not to pay full price too. I love them but I only buy when they’re on sale or marked down. The Le Pen, all I can ever think about when I see them is I got one when I was younger, maybe in middle school, I think it came from a local craft store but I felt so grown up and fancy because I had the special pen😂 It just stuck with me I guess lol I don’t know anything about digital planning but I’ve seen some really amazing videos on CZcams of people who do and I think I’ve seen sticker packs on Etsy that are digital stickers to use in your digital planner! I don’t know how it works but it looks cute! Thank you so much and I look forward to your next one!!❤❤❤
I'm in Australia and it is rare to get good sales on HP. I usually get what I want when it gets to 60% off on the US HP site. Anything less than that and the postage kills any savings. And I agree about the HP productivity books. Uninspiring and don't really match anything else I have. I learnt my lesson paying full price on those books.
Nice! I wish I learnt my lessons sooner and saved some money on the books, haha! Postage is a big money spending here in Canada too. Thanks for watching :)
I've been collecting hp sticker books for 4 years. I buy them for 70-90 percent off. Michaels after season, hobby lobby clearamce, and happy planner black froday sales.
I loooove happy planner planners, but I totally regret all the sticker books too. I just want to get rid of them but I also feel like I need to use them 😂 just not my style anymore.
I really like your videos way better than slot of the other planning videos because you don't go crazy promoting products or spend or bet hundreds of dollars worth of supplies for every week they plan. Some of them I would really like to know why they spend $50plus on hobonichi planner to basically just put stickers on almost every inch of the page. They may as well just use a hardcover journal as a sticker book. A good alternative to the le pen is the Staedler tri plus fineliner. I've had my .3mm 20pack for at least 5 or 6 years and use them in my hobonichi and in adult coloring books.
When I discovered the Happy Planner, I bought everything under the sun. I also switch it up by bullet journaling and did the same thing. I now shop my stash trying to use it up. It didn’t help that I was working at a Supercenter. It was too easy to shop everyday. I’m so glad that I don’t have that temptation anymore.
I fell in love with the happy planner sticker books when I discovered the planner community 5 years ago but could never justify the expense, ultimately I ended up with only 3 the first one of which was the OG colorful boxes that I purchased at Michaels and the other one I bought at dollar tree and the third one was a gift. The thing with the sticker books is that they take forever to use up once you've used the stickers that you like and it seems like a waste.
That’s soooo true my friend. I always reached for my favs and then was left with books I didn’t use. The Colorful boxes booklet was my fav, but I don’t think they make it anymore.
It drives me crazy how expensive HP stickers are in Canada. I picked up a bunch of partially used books at a garage sale the last time we were in the states.
I like my Happy Planner sticker books. I may not always use all of them in my planner but they remind me of things that I need to do (when I flip the books). I am also in a stage where I am using up almost every part of a sticker book. If I don’t like a page or a sticker, I immediately throw them away so they don’t bother me the next time I flip through a page. Your regrets and those here in the comments remind me to use those that I currently love because they might not be what I would prefer a year or two from now 😀
Such a great point my friend! I love my HP books for years abs still do. I don’t need to buy more cuz I have so many I gotta use up. Shopping your stash is key for me😊
I have the same struggle with my Zebra Sarasa pen. The skipping is a pain, I keep the ballpoint as clean as I can but it just doesn't work. They werent expensive, I didnt buy a metal case, but I definitely won't buy them again once I use them.
I understand your frustration. My friend told me if you are a “hard-pressing writing” Zebra pens may not be the best for you. I still love them though, just need to get the refill 😊
@@planningcalmdefinitely get the refills. You are supposed to store the pen tip side down if you are going to store it for any length of time. Gel pens also run out faster than a typical ink because of the ink composition which I believe contains alcohol. I love my gel pens
@@planningcalmYes! It is super frustrating. At first I thought the first pen in the pack was a dud, but after moving on it is just how the pen is. I admit, I do have hard-press writing but I have been trying to train myself to not press as hard, because it also exhausts my hand haha.
I bought the five minute journal many many years ago. I never used it and finally gave it away a few years ago. HP stickers…I bought soooo many and then found it overwhelming and barely use them. Also lots of stickers in the packs I just have no use for. I largely just functional plan now and pull a few stickers out for some cheer.
The Hobonichi 5 year might be a good option for you. There is a blank page each day that allows you to write more when you want to. I’ve been using one for three years now and have finally hit my stride with it.
I just got into decorating my planner halfway through this past year and agree with HP and can thankfully say I haven't purchased any book at full price. I did find that HP was not functional enough for me. I do watch videos for inspiration and while the spreads look awesome, most fill 2/3 to 3/4 of the pages with flowers, quotes, people or other decoratve things that theres no way I could use my planner productively. But I'll keep on playing to find something that works for me.
Sarasa wise, it the grand model with metal barrel things, the refill practically same as sarasa clip. Technically it about buy the body, as the refill under 1bucks each in my area, I personally replace with 1.0mm sarasa blue black refill.
Aaah...the Happy Planner sticker books. The thing is...your words are right on target. The vast majority are "uninspiring" and they are overpriced. Thankfully, I can get them on sale for about $13. I also am very selective in which ones I buy now...because some aren't even worth my time much less my money. I definitely wasted money buying them when I first got into planning. The thing is...the custom books or small shop sticker books are beautiful...but they are very expensive. So, for 2024 my sticker book strategy is this... I am planning to buy a seasonal book from a small shop, and select Happy Planner books when they get to be less than $10...and that's it. Also, I have noticed that influences use Happy Planner books when they get them for free and are required to make a video using them. Other than that, they are using smaller shop books in their spreads. But they get them for free, so I had to realize that no...I don't need all the $40 books they are using. 🤷♂️
I’ve never been a fan of the five minute planner either. I had one years and years ago and never bought it again. I got bored with it after a few weeks!
I hear ya! My colleagues use binders and I think I may have to give that a try or go digital. I don't know how long I can stand teaching, but as long as I'm in it, I need a good teacher planner :)
I loved it too! But found it was too small in my hands and when I think about how much I didn't reach for them, I consider it a regret because I spent so much on them. Oy! Thanks so much for watching :)
Ive been so uninspired by my hp sticker books. Its like idk what to do w them, how to use them. I can’t make them look nice in my planners. They just look so randomly placed when i do use them 🤷🏽♀️

Ohhhhh! Thanks for the info, I didn't know that! Lol! I have the smartest viewers. Thanks for watching my friend! :)
You are certainly not alone in over “collecting” planner supplies. I’m in destash mode right now
😊
Loved your honesty. Helps me look at what I need and stay away from FOMO! Thank you.
😊🥰

Colored pens and highlighters are great tools. Thanks for sharing, my friend! :)
Yessss I am so picky with pens. It irritates me when one isn’t just the perfect amount of flow and color!
You know! Nothing beats the feeling of a great working pen with perfect flow and vibrant color. It must be a teacher thang...lol!
A Primary Kind of Life’s digital teacher planner has been a LIFESAVER for me! I’m going on year 3 using it. I can link EVERYTHING in my planner and use it while teaching, it’s amazing!
Awesome! I will check it out😊
I agree with you on the stickers. I bought a bunch of Amazon stickers and found that I didn’t reach for them. They were just too generic for me
I'm glad it wasn't just me, lol! I need more spice with my stickers :)

Pilot Frixion erasable pens are my favourite and they actually erase!!!
Nice!!😁
I’m proud of you for getting to three weeks with the journal, I gave up at three days 😂🙈
LOL!!! It was a rough 3 weeks!

I really like happy planner stickers too, but I find if you’re not using a happy planner, the stickers don’t always work with other planners.
Totally agree Sis! HP stickers work best in an HP planner.

Smart! Clearance is the way to go when you want to save on stickers :)

Ooohh I've heard of that one, but could never find it in Canada. TFW :)

I catch Happy Planner sticker books on clearance on the Happy Planner website!
That is awesome! Shipping to Canada is very expensive when I order from the site, which is why I tried to snag deals at Michaels or Walmart :)
