Gave up drinking alcohol 20 years ago and recently picked back up, in much more moderation than back when. I had Pualaner Hefeweizen ONCE back then and remembered it, so I decided to try it again a couple weeks ago and I’m on my 2nd or 3rd 6-pack since.
Hefe is my favorite beer, and Paulaner is my favorite hefe. I've tried over 50 different types while traveling through Germany and Austria and never found one matches best to my taste as Paulaner does. Good review and cheers.
wheat beer is great fell in love with it when my friend gave me hoegarden. Although im sure there is a difference between german wheat and belgian wheat. whats a good entry point for german wheat beer?
My true thoughts as well. Paulaner has the perfect balance, not too sweet like most either hefes and not sour or too bitter, just a perfect blend of each characteristic into a BREADY/bready wonderfulness.
@@MrWalker1000 Hoegarden is a great first time.. it's an Anheisser Busch label beer now, so it's got a lot of averageness to it..... you've gotta try Paulaner, Weisenstephaner and Erdinger's Hefe Weizen's (German wheat beers) if you can find em!
I like Neumarkter Lammsbrau, but it's hard to find. (I think it's brewed in Erlangen, Ger). Also, make sure to swirl the bottle at the end of the pour then kind of drop the bottle toward the glass and pull up short, letting more of the foam out of the bottle. This is a VERY good beer.
Bavarian Hefe Weizens are my All Time Fav Style, have been for years. A friend of mine turned me onto Franziskaner when he returned from Germany as an Exchange Student and I've been drinking this style ever since. Paulaner is my 3rd fav of the style. Franzikaner Hefe or Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier are my favs, All of them are an A though. I usually buy Franziskaner because it's the least expensive of the 3.
In Ulm, Germany drinking one right now and all I can say is... Wow. The hefe glass is a must for the thick white head. Great review and I agree completely.
Weihenstephaner is by far my favorite hefe that i have tried. Paulaner is a distant second. I can't wait to visit my home state of Texas and try some Live Oak! Cheers!
isnt Wihenstephaner hefe like absolute world class. i was thinking about something low level. Allagash white i heard is good but its an american beer and im not sure if I can trust american to make a style that originated in another country. So maybe sticking to german wheet beers. Hoegarden is very good its belgium style wheat beer but I was very impressed with and the flavor is interesting and different from the rest. If german wheat beer is anything like it I think it'd like it.
I love your reviews!. Paulaner Hefe is, for me, the finest beer I've yet tasted. And I've tasted a lot, having run bars on three continents (inc a year in Munich). :P So good that I got my local supermarket to ensure a constant supply. All tasters have been converted. It's just delicious, with a lovely lingering after-taste of caramelized fruit. Yum!
drank the hell out of hefe-weizen when i was stationed in west germany way back when. the krauts toss a slice of lemon into the beer. great summer time bier!
Just learning beer tastes and properties. The banana flavor in this beer is probably the most obvious though. I'm not big on Hefeweizens, more of a stout drinker, but this beer is very good on a warm summer day in the sun. I'd give it a high 7 on a scale of a 1-10. Great recommendation!
Actually no mistake, DP is correct. Get any hefe served from a bottle at a fest in Germany and the pourer will actually leave about an inch in the bottom and hold the bottle at a 45 deg angle while giving it a few spins between their hands. Demonstrated by this nifty machine! tyv5rVPUGLU&feature=related
Nice hefe! I'm drinking on Tucher Hells Hefe right now, very tasty. Looks like I'm going to have to grab some Paulaner on my next beer run. Oh, and greetings from Naples, FL!
@DivinePonies We use the word "walsen". Perhaps waltzing or walzen? I have no idea what it would be for German or English. @Gregsbeerreviews Good review Greg, One of my favourites to! Be sure to get the glass for Paulaner, It's very pretty with spiral lines along the glass.
Hello. Thanks for your great reviews. You really know what you're talking about. Also thanks for respecting the german brewing culture. :-) greetings from germany
This beer blew my freakin' socks off. Granted this was the first "nice" import I tried but damn... if this is what beer can be I might love beer forever :) incredible flavor
***** it's funny that a lot of people are saying that I am crazy because how can I feel banana smell on a wheat beer! but that's true and I can say that I was also wondering where the smell is coming from...
The funny thing is: there is no mentioning of yeast in those purity-laws (either 1512, 1516 or 1526 a.s.o.) - it's a marketing scam dating back to the 1960s. But what the heck! From all those mass-produced beers of german origin I would give the crown to Paulaner - if it is for the mere taste of just one single bottle, it would go to Franziskaner.
Mark Will "Godisgoode"? In early modern Germany?? I doubt that very much. Of course they did not know about yeast. Bavaria was a rather late beer-culture - compared to other parts of the Holy Roman Empire. Most beers on the turn of the 15th to the 16th century were a cheap and clean way of storing water supplies. The Myth of the purity law is still one big part in post-ww2-marketing.
Hefeweizen is awesome but I personally prefer Kristallweizen which is hefeweizen but filtered. You should try that too, if you get the chance. And also the dark hefeweizen is not bad...^^
This beer is really a nectar of gods. But you didn't pour it correctly. You should have stirred (correct word?) the last few drops of beer in bottle and then pour it to get all those things (yeast) in the bottom of bottle into the cup :)
I've always hated beers, because i only knew the big company lager ones (budweizer, bud light, Corona, tecate) but then i tasted a hefeweizen, specifically the Kapuziner Weissbier, and i loved it. So i went to the store and bought a Paulaner hefe, but after taste it, i didn't like it, i felt a strong alcohol sensation/taste, and almost no banana/clove taste, so help me here, is it possible that i got a bad bottle or thats the actual taste? its pretty expensive on my city so i dont know if i should take the risk and buy another bottle or just leave it. I plan to buy erdinger too.
+Zhanark Definitely get another bottle. I recently visited Germany and, like you, my first German Wiessbier was Kapuziner. It is delicious. Then I discovered Franziskaner which I like even more, and then Paulaner which is my favorite. Wiehenstephaner is pretty damn good too, but I am partial to Paulaner. Of course it tasted best from from the tap in Germany, but all of the bottles I have bought here in California have been just fine. Also, if you don't already, be sure and pour the beer into a glass, and not drink from the bottle. There is also an official Paulaner video here on CZcams that shows you exactly how to pour it (you swirl the bottle towards the end to suspend the yeast). Cheers!

This is a VERY good beer.
lovin these intros coming from the beach haha looks ideal. this beer is the best.
i drink this paulander after long mountainbike rides, its one of the best recovery drinks.
Paulaner Hefe Weiz is a great beer. I'd put it a little bit under Weisenstephaner's & Erdinger's Hefe Wiez, which is saying it's a great tasting beer!

Paulaner is a great weissbier, glad they have the 500ml cans in Canada.

Cheers!
+theherbpuffer I totally agree with Weihenstephaner and Paulaner. They're practically neck in neck!
+theherbpuffer if you're a hefe fan you have to try the schneider weisse original. by far my favorite hefe if not my favorite beer
oh, ill have to try that
thanks
whats a good entry level for german wheat beer guys?
what do you guys think of hoegarden belgium wheat beer?

My first Hefeweizen was from Schlafly's. I was taken in immediately by the texture.
Paulaner is one of the best breweries. Nice review man, you're like a beer santa claus :)
Darn good beer, 8/10.
I've recently developed a taste for Hefe's...looking forward to trying this one.

just LOVE paulaner
My favourite beer by far, glad to see that many other people like it too. :)
has a great taste, but try a Franziskaner or Schöfferhofer if you get them. They are much better
I would love to try this one but I can't get it on my neck of the woods. Have you tried Franziskaner... review?
Nice hefe! I'm drinking on Tucher Hells Hefe right now, very tasty. Looks like I'm going to have to grab some Paulaner on my next beer run. Oh, and greetings from Naples, FL!
You have a good reason to drink a lot of good beers.
Sun is always there!
you are right.

Really liked this. Along with banana, I would swear I got some kind of sweet medium sized fruit like mango or apricot. Either way, awesome wheat beer!

I dig your style dude! Just subscribed.
i saw this at my store should i try it?
think you could do one for a bottle of Carlsberg? you do the best reviews by far
I don't review lagers or pilsners unless they are sent to me.
The only better hefeweizen I've had is Weihenstephan, but Paulaner is exceptionally good.
Paulaner hefe weizen is awesome, plain and simple!!!
I like Schneider Weiss Original more but I drink both. Paulaner is a great beer.
Thats a lot better than Paulaner
u get a 0.5 Paulaner weissbier for around 4 dollars in my country. Very tasty , my favourite one so far.
Here in Germany costs a 0.5l Paulaner only 0.80€ :D
+si buxX und hier in Chicago Paulaner 0,5l kostet $2,79 :(
I love Paulaner
Paulaner is great imo
Did u see dolphin or something jumping by your left hand after 7 seconds haha
Just slammed one with you. Regards from Mörfelden, Germany....
this guy is awesome
Its a banana milkshake
Try the Paulaner Dunkel!!
yeah nice videos! =)
you definetly need more german beer ;)

+Brandon Cook The glass is a "must". And thanks for the reply
Try Allagash White. It's similar. Poor it in a pint glass, you'll get more out of it
+Zachary Mikuska Allagash White is a Belgian White. Similar, but distinctly different styles. It is a good beer.
Thanks for the recommendations

Paulaner weis!
do st. ides next!! (just kidding ;-) )
I didn't like this beer at all. It tasted too watery, I struggled to finish the 6 pack. It's despicable to call this a real German beer.
