The statement from Brian Smith about the V-Series not going anywhere and continuing with EV Cadillacs is what I've been hoping for! Gonna be very exciting to see what Cadillac and GM do with their performance EVs in the future. GM has some quick times at tracks around the world and their chassis engineers are world class and that will give them a big advantage with these new platforms.

Can’t wait to see Munro open this thing up and pull aside the curtain. We’ll see how much Cadillac has started from ‘clean slate’ and how much is parts bin junk underneath. My expectation is they have not taken full advantage of what a new EV architecture allows for.. we’ll see. Then we need to see how well they build a computer on wheels.. and how much is typical Detroit sub contracting parts that don’t talk to each other and leads to a crap software/ UI experience

I see that Cadillac only sold 22.5k vehicles in Q3. That's behind Lexus, BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Acura and Volvo. Even Mitsubishi, outsold Cadillac. That's an amazing fall from being the number 1 luxury brand just 20 or so years ago. I think the Cadillac name is damaged goods and might never come back.

Escalade is one of the most profitable vehicles of any manufacturer and they have a loyal following. Cadillac is in a transition right now, give it 5 years and we'll have a better idea on how the brand is doing. For the time being GM is perfectly fine with that brand not even turning a profit, their other brands are highly profitable and Cadillac will continue to be the test bed of innovation for GM.
The advancements in technology at GM usually go into production in Cadillacs first and then head into their other brands in the following years. I don't see that system changing anytime soon.

You are nothing more then a troll that is trying to crap on Rivian... Get a life... Amazon Van low volume? Haha! Its a 100K order, with options for 500K more over 10 years. 34:50 The personality and visceral emotion of ICE cars comes from Henry's past experiences and it's completely subjective in nature. Our brain's stimulus that comes from speed and thrill of driving a good car also brings these false connections with how the cars sounds or how it looks from the inside or how it vibrates your body etc. The actual thrill comes from g-forces that your brain and body experience on your first ride in any of those amazing cars, and it has no objective connection with sound etc. New generation of drivers will not make such subjective attribution because they will be able to experience better g-forces from EVs and the subjective attribution will be made to quietness, smoothness and simplicity. The major problem here is that everyone is still talking about looks and interior. Which makes some sense because you are interviewing the exterior and interior people. The problem is that this is an EV. What drives buyers to an EV? It isn't interior and exterior. It is Efficiency, Range, Batteries, Integration of what gets an EV to go (drivetrain), and then user experience (software). The Jaguar I-pace is a beautiful and comfortable EV. It sells like garbage. It's a crappy EV. Where is the discussion about the innovation in the motor and battery pack? What makes Ultium better? Where is the discussion of the supply chain? How about a charging network?

GM has introduced new technology with the Cadillac brand before, look at magnetic ride control that was invented by GM and used on Cadillacs first. Those shocks completely changed performance handling and they've gone into off-road applications and luxury vehicles too.
The Lyriq isn't meant to compete with a Plaid Model S, it's an affordable luxury crossover and that's a perfect market to get into with an EV because those buyers can afford the higher cost of an EV.

The Lyric is beautiful in its detailing, but the Ciel or the Sixteen concepts were gorgeous as a whole. Cadillac is a status symbol, a STATEMENT piece of automotive art, as always was up till the 1990s. These designers dont appreciate Cadillac's heritage..... just like Lincoln has generally lost track of its heritage and history. Quiet quality. isolation, luxury interior appointments, and rolling smoothness is what American and Chinese luxury buyers want - and STATEMENT distinctive Cadillac styling. The highways are far too crowded and in poor repair..... sanctuary is a Lincoln theme that should resonant deeply with Cadillac. Chasing the Germans was foolish - Lexus and Genesis stole Cadillac's market.
