- Cutting small holes with a plasma cutter is difficult. Building a guide greatly increases accuracy. Here's a quick video on how to build the guide and tips on how to use the guide.

You can also just use large washers for a guide, I've done it many times - just get the size you need for your hole and if you cut up the washer - no big deal, they are cheap and already have the hole in it.
Yup, smart. Thanks for the video.
All good ideas thanks for the tips
Yep and I added magnets to mine too thanks gor the share !
Great idea thanks for sharing
hi, very helpful video, thank you for the time to present it. bye
Cool little idea for jigs. With a generic 'home' plasma cutter (which is all I have) it should work to just make the hole larger than the offset of the tip - label it for the output size even though it's physically larger. Some 1/4" thick 'jigs' would be easy to use. Thanks for the idea!
Good tips! I would have to have really thick ones though because my tips are tapered and not cylindrical so would have to indicate on the whole body.
I did this too! And for holes that need to be located accurately, I machined a plug with an 1/8" cylinder. I drill an 1/8" hole where the center is, put the plug in, then clamp the template around the plug, then pull the plug off. The hole is perfectly oriented. Not sure if I explained that very well.
Great tip!
Good advice 👍
Thanks 👍
Awesome
Nice another vid 👌
I'd love to see a vid on severing some 3/4 & see what it'll do
Coming soon!
Nice tips! I honestly never thought about it before as I work mostly with wood. On the other hand my brother works in a metal shop and I hope has figured this out by now, LOL. I do on occasion run into the task of accurately transferring geometric shapes onto bisque but that is a whole other thing but just like this application requires a template or jig because my best circle freehand looks like an egg, LOL. :)
I put together a short video on my other channel for a friend who likes to see our outings. I thought maybe you might enjoy it, too. It's unlisted, so you have to follow this link. czcams.com/video/iUEoEkfFoyc/video.html
@@WideVisionMetalFab Nice, I'll check it out. :)
I have a cutter very similar to yours in this video , there is a wire guard around the tip to act as a stand off , my question is do you use a drag tip ?
I've been trying to drill 1/4" holes in railroad spikes and having no luck with any drill bit. Do you think a plasma cutter could do it? The iron is about 3/8" thick.
I just bought my first plasma cutter,,when i try to use it cut holes it is very erratic,,,what settings should i use as far as air and power settings
So when are these going to be available in your store? Seems like it’d be easy to make on your plasma table and nice to have a set that increments up from .5 up to 3” or so.
I hadn't thought about selling them. I might have to give it a try.
Wow why didn't I think of that?
Quick question: the table you're using to cut on... the grid surface - what the hell do I ask for at the scrap yard? Looks like an old 'in floor' furnace grate we had when I was growing up... only with 'wider' (thicker???) 'slats' making up the grid.
That's the grate of my CNC plasma table. It's made of 2 inch strap set in slots.
👍👍👍
But what if u want a specific size hole
Hey Matt ! Have tried a circle burner with a plasma cutter?
Yep. They work pretty good for holes over 4 inches in diameter, in my opinion.
Yesswelder cut 50 is pure chinese junk. Mine was no good out of the box. Pressure gauge only reads 30psi. I don’t know whether I have to much or to little air pressure. Arc goes out after a few seconds. Yeswelder is putting unreasonable demands on me to fix it.
I recently picked up the same plasma cutter but have a hard time cutting through 1/2” any tips?
Why not make the hole jig out of wood,Easily replaceable if it burns it.
2 minute jig as well.
