    COMMENT: What are your thoughts on the new 4K Fast Finish?

    • @joshg218
      @joshg218 Před 2 lety +6

      This wasnt 4K fast. You need to properly put the teeth under the 4K for it to have traction in the back of the lane. You turned it into a neutered 1500grit surface ball so it was too early but not smooth enough in the back end to get that quick traction.

    • @clowny2396

      I don't have a spinner; however, I took several pads from 360 to 4000 grit to my Hy-Road by hand and the last two were wet. Used the ball on my next outing for a few frames. Wasn't impressed. Took a 3000 grit pad to it and tried it out again. Whoa! Nice mid-lane reaction and finish. Lots more miss room. Liked it...

      Yeah was gonna comment that hitting a polished ball with 4k is NOT the same as 4k fast. That polish is still in the pores.

      @jefftennant218 Před 2 lety +1

      I don’t like that they went away with the polish. I don’t believe that has anything to do with them being too soft. I don’t think it’ll stop being from buying storm balls. People can try it at 4000 and if they don’t like it they can always take it to 1500 polished.

    4k fast means that they go from 500 to 4k without skipping a pad, so 500-1000-2000-3000-4000.
    As for what i think about it, I haven't tried one with that specific surface. Generally I have always done my own polish job with Step Two so that I can reproduce it compared to what SPI used to put on the ball. That said, if it shuts USBC up, then I'm all for it.

      Good day, It took me a moment to understand the process. It's a little confusing right. The process starts from using a 360-grit pad. There's no 3000-grit pad used as it is not used in their finishing process (according to their resurfacing guide from 2012 and before: www.stormbowling.com/downloads) except to finish the ball at 3000-grit.
      Here’s Storm’s video explaining 4K Fast: czcams.com/video/Xy59kdaqZ7Y/video.html
      The finishing process is mentioned from minutes 1:18-1:25 and again from 7:00-7:18. When Alex says: "We're not skipping any grits in between... We're literally not going to skip any steps..," it's to be understood "contextually" not "literally." I hope this helps.
      Storm's 4000-grit finish goes from: 500-->2000-->4000
      Storm’s 4K Fast goes from: 360-->500-->1000-->2000-->4000.. (again, no 3000).

      @Dainslaif Před 2 lety +3

      Yeah, they call it "fast" because when it hits the dry, it changes direction "faster" than their normal 4000 ball finish (IE; more angular) due to being a bit more polished as a result of the full procession of grits.

    4K fast - 500, 1000, 2000, 3000, and 4000. The process is designed to have a similar RA value, as it gets the surface extremely smooth - under 5 RA while the 1500 polish has about a 3 RA value. 4k fast should be a little smoother, but less sensitive than 1500 polish finish.

      Good day, It took me a moment to understand the process. It's a little confusing right. The process starts at 360 grit.
      Storm's 4000-grit finish goes from: 500-->2000-->4000
      Storm's 4K Fast goes from: 360-->500-->1000-->2000-->4000.. (again, no 3000).

      Let’s say you sand the ball to 1500, now you polish it, it’s not 1500 anymore but much much finer. Hence the shine.

    Your 1500 grit no polish almost looked shinier than factory 4K Fast directly from Storm. If a ball comes out of the factory at 1500 grit, it will laser scan at 1500 grit. This is why I never use Abralon, because 1500 Abralon scans much higher than 1500.

  • @david.calvin.
    @david.calvin. Před 2 lety +3

    The polish did not make the balls soft. The residue from the polish caused lower readings in subsequent tests. Watch the Storm video. They explain all of this.
    You did not adjust the surface of the X2 to 4k fast. All you did was 4000 after box polish. 4k fast is NOT a fast spin. 4k is a progression of abralon starting at a course pad, and progressing up to a 4k pad. This will create a different reaction with teeth underneath. Watch the Storm video on this too. They explain the process.
    I love your guys videos but if you would have watched the relevant videos Storm produced on these topics, you would have all the correct info about the use of polish and how it affects surface tests and what 4k Fast actually is.

  • @feddyvonwigglestein3481

    The more seriously I took the sport, the less I even wanted polish on my balls anyway. If you need a cleaner reaction, why take a full-price or nearly full-price ball, then ruin its cover with polish? What's wrong with a cheaper ball that flares less? I know that's not what the manufacturers (and ignoramuses that think lower price = lower quality ball) want us to think, but it's how I personally see it.
