I just bought two 2000 grit pads for my Trend and that might be the best $13 I’ve ever spent because as soon as I hit the lanes I bowled my new high game at 224 and had the highest average I’ve had in league! The Idol polished up actually had a pretty good look to it, kinda liked that slightly angular backend. Never thought to shine it up, may have to try it. Ended up polishing up my IQ Tour solid a while back and loved how it turned out. I imagine a league bowler could buy like 3 of the same ball, whatever their go to ball is and shine one up, take a 4 or 3000 grit pad to the second one, and maybe for the 3rd ball just go with a completely different drill pattern, pin down if you have most your other balls pin up, or vice versa, and you could bowl with just those 3 balls and probably do pretty well most days. Think the only time you'd run into a problem is bowling on completely burnt lanes, then you may need something completely different, unless you loft it a third of the way down the lane like a Robert Smith😆

    Ok, maybe someone can explain a couple things for me; I'm not very knowledgeable about using abralon pads, changing surfaces, etc. I've usually just had my pro shop owner watch me bowl and he usually made suggestions when I should get a ball sanded down or polished up. If I wanted to take a polished down to 3000, should I do it in steps......should I first take a 4000 to it and then go down to 3000, or can I just go straight to 3000? Also is there a certain amount of times I can use a pad on a bowling ball without worrying about taking down too much surface? I didn't know if you use a pad too much on a bowling ball if eventually the surface would be gone? My last question us, if I want to polish a bowling ball up, is it recommended to take it down to 1500? I notice pretty much every bowling ball that comes polished is usually a 1500 grit polished finish. What would be the difference between a ball taken down to 1500 grit and then polished and a ball taken down to 3000 grit and then polished? I'm guessing the 3000 grit polished ball would go even longer than the 1500 grit polished ball?

    I have very low rev rate and I use a Gravity Evolve. I just bought a 500 grit pad cause my ball isn't hooking at all anymore. I've probably shot over 200+ games since I've had this ball though lol I know the Evolve comes stock at 2000. I hope I don't mess this ball up trying 500.

    • @RedfalconX
      @RedfalconX Před 2 lety

      To be honest. You need to restore the ball with a revitalize and resurface. I use Clear and then I adjust the the surface to either factory grit or what I need. You do have to try and revitalize the ball to revive most of the hook. A surface change won't be as effective once the pores are clogged.

    I still couldn't even tell you why I surface my balls.
    I can tell you why I do it but I can't tell you if my logic makes sense.
    If I keep missing the pocket right (light) then I usually will surface my
    ball (depending on which ball it is) down to about a 1000 grit hoping
    that it'll allow it to get to the pocket instead of hitting right (light).
    Do I know if I'm actually doing the right thing? No fucking idea! 🤣

    Is choosing surface on Resin balls vs. urethane balls much different? Jungo liked 3000 for his resin but Barker liked 1000 for his urethane.
    Jungo is high rev and Barker lower rev.
    What should a low rev urethane bowler be thinking about for surface grit as ideal?
