Personally, I would add Chelsea boots to this list. They are "on trend" right now (so it's a great time to buy them) but they're a classic that never goes out of style. ◡̈

Recently, people think of Chelsea boots as the clunky lug sole boots. In actually, most simple zip ankle boots are also Chelsea boots. Those are classic.

I agree, they’re timeless. Do you have any idea how I could incorporate them into my wardrobe, I usually wear really long wide legged pants and jeans, do you think they’ll look good with those? I’ve always seen people wear them with cropped pants

I recently went away for a work trip & forgot to pack flat shoes for daily walking 🙃 I can definitely walk in my heeled boots, but nothing replaces flat shoes. Found a COS store in the city & was able to get a nice leather flats - the last pair they have in store was fortunately in my size! Agree with all the options, great shoes to me are investment pieces so they better be timeless 🙂

  • @BBaxterSwank
    @BBaxterSwank Před 8 měsíci +20

Great segment. I do appreciate a classic shoe because they are constantly cycling back into style. Buying quality, properly fitted and then taking care of shoes and boots is essential when buying classic footwear. These should be considered investment pieces, even if purchased at a bargain price. As an example I have a fantastic chunky high heeled slouchy boot that I bought in 1976/77. This was a big purchase at the time and because my foot never changed size I still wear them today - I was 18 - you do the math. When this style cycles in every few years they always are noticed when I wear them and those who ask can’t believe they are vintage. I have always taken care of my footwear & my feet.
Have you ever done a video on care and maintenance of footwear leather in particular, but also fabric? A good & important topic on maintaining quality clothing.
Thank you. I truly enjoy your program.

So glad flatter shoes are back on trend as I can no longer wear heels. I have both horse shoe loafers and pretty patient pumps with both silk and velvet bows. I also love high leg flat boots and Chelsey boots in winter. After watching one of your old videos I have also bought myself a pair of black flat lace up leather boots. Sadly the ones you bought are out of my price range although I will keep looking on the pre loved markets. Lots of great ideas in this video.

I have pointed shoes, but they are really bad for my feet and adding it into a heel just wrecks havoc longterm on feet (planter fasciosis and fasciitis). I would also add ballerina "flats" (small heel) with good footbed to the longterm classic shoes.

Hey, do you think the trend of pointed toe flats shoes can also suit someone whose shoe size is large, for example size 40/UK 7? To me it feels like a boat on the leg and less flattering.

After wearing Birkenstocks for the last 7-8 months I cannot imagine stuffing my feet in pointed flats or heels. My feet love being free! I’ve converted over to zero drop athletic shoes. I bought a pair of GH Bass penny loafers with a leather sole. I also want some earthing/grounding shoes and some moccasins! 🤣🤦🏽‍♀️ I’m wanting to wear shoes I wore back in the 80’s.

@@pippas5808 so true - because of all my trendy shoe wear, I can now only wear certain shoes with expensive orthotics, and it is painful and ain’t pretty. When young, I ignored this advice because of my “fashion” desires and now I’m paying. I thought “oh, that won’t happen to me, I have good genes.” Turned out I have good genetics, but that didn’t help my poor abused feet. Love your feet, ladies! Relates to healthy knees, hips, back as well.

It depends. I really love pointy shoes, but with looooong toes, not short pointy.
Also, in long-pointy-toe shoes, the person's toes are not meant to squeeze in the point, that could mean that the shoe is too small. The inside of my long-pointy-toe shoes actually sits empty. 😄
But ultimately, I don't wear shoes that feel uncomfortable, heeled, or flat. Life is too short. 😊

I love slingbacks for the warm months (I live in the cold north). I've been meaning to find a nice pair in navy leather in recent years. I inherited wide feet, so finding any kind of attractive shoe is a challenge. I buy Rockport, Clarks, or Earth footwear because they're orthopedically sound and comfortable. I love the beautiful fashion shoes, but I can't walk in high heels and I find they have little to none of the cushioning I'm used to. Those classic pumps were gorgeous, but I can't walk in them.

Good content! I agree to add Chelsea boots and I like I have shoes like high quality brogues that are currently not “on trend” because I feel everyone looks the same when everyone just buys and wears Mary Jane’s etc. I also think you need to consider your context and your body type/style: personally I’m fairly broad and tall in my bones, those super dainty shoes looks ridiculous on me. And then I live in Sweden which has loose gravel on the streets for at least 6months during winter: no way thin soles will make you survive winter unfortunately.

Pointed toe shoes will destroy your feet, regardless of them being flats or heels. I will never wear anything that will harm my body in the "name of fashion". You can be fashionable without doing damage to yourself.

What other type of shoes would you suggest other than trainers?

But there's a wide range of choice between trainers and pointed toe shoes. Also, trainers these days are getting away from the typical sport design. You can save your feet and be 'fashionable'.

Definitely have to be careful with pointed toes , make sure they fit properly and have plenty of room, go for high quality and as comfortable as possible.

I disagree with the statement as pointed flats and shoes have been always my favorite and I never get bunions nor pain. Maybe it has to do with the shape of the toes/feet? Mine are "Roman" shaped. In my 50s and still enjoying them. I only wear comfortable clothes and shoes and no high heels.

It really depends on whether it's a short point or a long point. I love long pointed shoes. Your toes are not meant to be crammed in there. There is lots of empty space. 😅
Ultimately... if they don't feel comfortable, round or pointy, flat or heeled, I don't get them.

I prefer to not wear shoes for more than five years 😅

Your suggestion of shoes is only good for the perfect foot If you have a wide or slightly chubby, foot, those shoes would not fit well they would be very uncomfortable. Your hand movement is to excessive.

Unfortunately, pointed shoes are impossible for many people, including myself. They cramp the toes, and the shoes become painful within 5 minutes. I have to admit I’m so tired of hearing pointy shoes recommended.

Nice those pointy toed flats - so long as you have small feet. Those of us with arthritis and foot problems not to mention trans women - it's impossible to find a pair of these in a big enough size. We are left taking ANYTHING that fits - no talk of customizing. You mean no harm but it's too easy to forget those of us with larger feet. All these choices do not apply - even in other styles - do not apply to us. I know you are not a bad person but OUCH.....

Is it just me or she uses a lot of hand gestures like nonstop, kind of distracting. Sorry but just an observation
