I am a CCD customer since 2002. I had my first coffee in CCD of ₹30, FC road outlet, Pune. It was Tropical Iceberg. Tropical Iceberg with chocolate sauce and chocolate ice-cream. That is my default drink. I had my first date with my girlfriend in CCD, Law college road Pune in 2007.

I appreciate Mr Siddhartha for taking responsibility ( unlike those who flew away to diff countries leaving their staff n others to suffer ) but I wish he had chosen life over failure …. I’ve been to CCD many times go th interior n exterior vibe of th place n each time I felt lame indifferent not present mindful staff n fancy names in menu card , no response to customer complaints, but stil very proud of it coz it was a brands grew so high , from Karnataka
I saw his death in my eye because he is from our native Karnataka chikamagluru mudigere but he help lot of people give the opportunity to work to his workers in coffe plantation but he didn't not write any kind of letter regard to his death and its Mistry of his death no one see the wat happened to him but his dead body found in the river and he is legend and king of the coffe
One time i went to ccd alone
When i was in 1st year
Only had 700 in my pocket
Then i ordered coffee to my surprise it was 400 for a simple coffee that didn't even taste good
But i had to buy it to save me from embarrassment
Then i never went there again

CCD is way overpriced now, ordering one cold coffee would charge you around 500₹ that too a mini cup filled with less coffee and more ice cream. This is my current experience.

I went to ccd with my girlfriend , and the most striking psrt that i noticed was that the manu card they use, the dont specify the type of drinks over there, they use fancy names , which most people wont understand without googling, i ordered black coffee for 300 rupees without knowning it was black cofee, now im never going back there again...

CCD coffee was pretty expensive , I remember it was Rs.500 for 2 cold coffee. I went a couple of times back in 2016-2017 when I was a college student and it was hard hitting on the pocket while the overall experience / taste wasn't that great, this is the memory that I have about my experience with CCD

I was very happy with CCD. In my locality, there were 3 outlets. Now, there is only one.
I was not aware of so many segments. But I saw, the same coffee which I was getting in 200 rupees in one outlet, 300 rupees in the other and naarly 400 rupees in another outlet.

I had worked with CCD in the vending department for a year as a sales executive and whatever which is shown in the video is very correct. But the inner story is really worse then any one would have imagined

I went to ccd whenever i felt bored at my room, positive thing was the customer connection as you mentioned, but the negative thing was the expensive rates, sometimes they give black coffee without informing it hasnt milk!
Last year, i went to ccd for the last time because after ordering cold coffee, i paid them through upi they said they didn't receive it, the amount was deducted from my account, they said there could be a server issue so I'll get my money back after sometime so i gpay them because i really wanted to drink coffee. When my coffee arrived, I got two small wire pieces in my mouth while drinking it. Left the coffee there and walked out because, as an introvert, i was too nervous to confront them infront of so many people.
Also i didn't get my money back.

I went to CCD only twice during my college days 8 years back. To be honest most of youngsters possibly went for one time experience and satisfying their curiosity. Loyalty was not possible for many because -
1- It was not affordable as you said especially for college goers coming from tier 2 cities which was large chunk in market. Not everyone had good pocket money. It was like overspending pocket money within 1 day which was supposed to support for week.
2- Most of us would not understand menu which made us feel anxious and idiot plus the price tag decided which one to bet on.
3 - Did not really enjoyed the taste as it was like drinking raw coffee. Yup it did not appeal the indian taste bud I feel, unlike foreigners.
4 - It did not appeal to older generation crowd.
Bhai iske baare mein na hi main bolu toh achcha hoga. Main 2002 se CCD ka customer raha hoon. Pehli coffee maine unki uss zamane mein ₹30 mein piyi thi. My favorite, Tropical Iceberg, with chocolate sauce and chocolate ice-cream. Pune ke kisi bhi outlet mein jaa ke poocho, sab mera hi naam lenge.😂😂

Ccd assets were 11000 CR plus and debt was 6000 cr, can you share on what was the tussle between income tax dept which you skipped? Also, black stone is the biggest investment firm in the world and their interest in Tech park investments show how at right places long term investments were made by Mr. Siddhartha!!!
His employees took his life away ...even a small waiter or barista used to earn 30-40k using loopholes in systems and even the managers area managers was involve in it ...feel really sorry for him

I had very bad experience at CCD. Me and my bf ordered a brownie and paid 190, they said they didn't received while the amount was already debited from my account but they said pay again because I'll receive back in 24 hours. So we paid again and again it got debited but they said they didn't receive any amount. I got very mad and then my bf decided to pay by cash.
It's been 4 months i haven't received my money yet, I even tried to contact customer care which was a fail. So my 380 went waste.
Its been 6 years now I've always Enjoyed Irish latte at Different CCD .
I went with my Girlfriend to CCD in 2010-2011 It was too expensive and my GF had to pay the bill. Also the taste was not good at all as I used to drink Filter coffee. However I feel the people who like coffees like latte and cappuccino should visit CCD and not Starbucks because if we compare prices it's cheap and taste is the same also we are promoting Our Indian company.
CCD was the first made in india coffee chain giant... what a sad downfall story

Small Tips for CCD
1) Small outlets of 1000~1200sq.ft
2) Today's new trend is minimum is maximum because of rising cost of living, reduce prices and with decent menu. Im from upper middle class and im not paying ₹350~₹400 for a coffee even if its grown on moon and served on mars, i just want coffee and cookies. I would rather have ₹300 pizza and ₹50 coffee than ₹350 for a coffee.
3) RENAME your entire menu, im serious. I dont want to feel stupid because I didn't understand the menu while ordering. Im spending ₹1000 for one visit and its like gambling while ordering as we (atleast 80% people) don't know how it tastes like all you have to do is wish its good.

VG siddhartha is from chikmagalur, a town near bangalore, it is known as coffee city.
He got most of the lands using the power of his father in law,ex cm of karnataka -SM Krishna,but when BJP became strong in karnataka,he switched to BJP,due to which DK Shivkumar,a prominent cong leader who had loaned siddhartha money harrased and threatened him everyday to return his money,which he couldn't hence he ended his life.
Now Shivkumar's daughter is married with siddhartha's useless son and hence shivkumar controls all his assets and estates.

I went there on my 1st date with my 1st gf. Ordered a coffee which i don't even remember the name. But i also paid for a water bottle which i never got even the we sat there talking for about 2 hours. I didn't asked about it to them because i was already nervous with my gf. We just left from there. It is been 6yrs i never went there back. Because coffee also was not so good compared to the price.
Cafe Coffee Day has made a remarkable comeback.

I went to the ccd coffee was average and the price is not too high because when we go another cafe price is like that and also the vide off was good many working people were sitting there just like people spent there time in Starbucks and also its good for meeting and having fun with partner for those people who think Starbucks is expensive because it is but its coffee is also nice so you can go ccd
Problems at CCD:
1. CCD never made good coffee,
2. Many CCD outlets never made a profit
3. CCD borrowed too much money to cover their losses and expanded into other unrelated businesses
If each location makes a loss, adding more location only increases losses!
The fall was inevitable!

I respected CCD as a BANGALORE Based Brand and even Proud of it, but never liked any of the coffee products there. Have been to many of their cafes, for meetings and not for the coffees, though.

Currently coca cola owns Costa coffee and they have collaboration with office buildings in Gurgaon so they have their outlets inside them
Perhaps Pepsi , vedanta , adani , reliance , itc etc could acquire it
It is a known brand and their menu is much better than the mix match of Starbucks
