Hey there, uploader here. All i can say it's thank you for this wonderful video. When i saw the time length i thought i had thrown you into the lions but at the and i was right, only you could do it! Keep going further!
Thanks for the submission! Delightfully 90s and the additional 100% kills challenge was fun to figure out.
Map author in 1994: haha, I'll put 16 Cyberdemons here, nobody will ever kill them all!
Decino in 2024: oh this is a good challenge!
Easiest modern Doom wad (it's the first map):
I made my first attempt at mapping in 1994. It was a really difficult experience back then as there was no 3D view whilst building, so you had to imagine what the rooms would look like, then save, load the map up and double check. Then go back and re-align your textures and light levels. Most of us left the floor and ceiling heights as they were (0,128) because it was too much effort to try and adjust them. Even creating a door was a thankless task back then - no auto-generated sectors or auto-assigned sector tag numbers.
Here ends "Old man yelling at cloud"
That explains a lot
God that sounds like an uphill. Just like me when I'm trying to align the projectile source with the sprite of an attacking monster (so, for example, the Cyberdemon's rockets come out of his arm cannon and not his pelvis) - there's lots of launching the game, testing, closing, tweaking the code values and relaunching Doom to test again. Only on a much larger scale for mapping.
Bless the soul of whoever created Doom Builder.
@DinnerForkTongue Doombuilder is literally a life saver
4:02 that imp was very polite to wait until you turned around before clawing you to death
Must be related to the gentlemanly arch-vile from 'Monster Condo' 😅
@@dreadwandererGood old Barney. (Unless your name is KingDime, then he's nasty.)
"I've been a busy papa" is a great sentence to hear. Glad to see you back though Pumpkin Man. ❤
Not all of your viewers are younger than this map! Happy to see you back, my dude!
Born 1962 and therefore loving doom
1976 Bicentennial Year of the Dragon! I was graduating high school when the age of Doom came upon us.
1982, I was 12 and a huge Doom nut. Still am!
1993 here. Born a few months before doom was released. I've been playing it in some shape or form since I could walk.
1969 here, keep punching them pumpkin man!
Let's gooooo. It's the fuckin pumpkin man
Didn't realize how much I missed that "greetings everyone, and welcome to my..." Thank you for posting.
"This map is very 1994"
Really dug the history and story behind this map!
Completely unrelated to the video:
I noticed you redid some of your playlists. Analysis being broken up by category especially stood out. I really appreciate you putting that sort of extra work into the channel. It improves viewing experience a lot for when I want to go on a binge watch of your videos.
35:16 "This practice run is not exciting at all I think, to watch"
"...You can skip forward if you want, or you could just I don't know, use this as backround sound"
Me watching the whole video intently: "Huh?!"
Decino: I consider this extra footage, background noise on another monitor.
Me, whos tried this wad before and is watching unblinking: I NEED YOU TO CRUSH THIS WAD PUMPKIN MAN
Here to represent "Team Born Before December 1994". I was 12 at the time. Still about a year and a half before having a PC capable of running Doom. Still rocking the good ol' Commodore 128.
Me too, l was 27 back then! I THINK I may have had a dx2-66 or dx4-100 around that time. Had a great time playing doom, though never played at a anything like Decinos level
@@randomsporadicprojects8941 I think I had played the shareware version because I remember my aunt and uncle having a 386 with no sound card. So yeah, low FPS and no audio. Not even configured to use the PC speaker. :)
I was 17 in 1994
11 myself
@@randomsporadicprojects8941 Yes I played it on the DX2-66 as well!
This was great watching you dissect the map enough to do a full UV-Max run. This was actually a lot of fun.
It's like The Mucus Flow but a decade earlier.
Most of my viewers weren’t born before 94……..me 1978 and love this channel. I remember going to the store to purchase Doom the first day it came to the market.
Longtime fan, reporting in, letting you know I'm still watching when you wondered how many people were still watching.
I played a wad from 1994 called Slaughter Until Death, which was featured in the top 100 wads of all time, and it's actually really good. Obituary, made by the same mappers, released one year later, is even more impressive, since it's for Doom 2 and it has custom enemies and weapons. So it's not all janky from that era and you can still find some forgotten gems from the past.
All that work for 3 and a half seconds of infighting from the Spider Mastermind at 47:28?! I burst out laughing, Pumpkin Man. Great stuff - and nice to see you doing a new playthrough too.
Yes pumpkin man is back 👍
Decino upload instantly makes day very good
Romero in 2023: "Chaingun a Cyberdemon lawl"
Some Doomer in '94: "Try A BUNCH"
Only just noticed the "sub2decino" above the stat bar, nice use of DSDA-HUD
Makes me want to do more cool things with Nugget-Doom's NUGHUD lump which lets you add whole new graphic lumps to the hud (I've already done a custom one that reimpliments the stat face onto the fullscreen hud)
Welcome back Decino! Can't wait for the rest of these submissions! (and also thanks for coming to my stream that one time, that meant so much to me!)
31:04 You totally went back to the 90s with that sound! 😅
Very well done on beating this ridiculously memeable Byzantine map! Gives a whole new meaning to Shoot it until it dies!
Hugely enjoying Coin's current DN3D playthrough, but wonderful to have some good old Doom back. 😁
The Pump King has returned! Welcome back fren. 🎃
time to beat this meat 💯
Ayoo?
Vegetarians won’t be watching this video.
Woah there
Own, a classic one.
This map has almost 30 years 🎉
This is legitimately one of the most amazing things I've ever seen accomplished in this game, I didn't think it was tedious to watch at all.
Well done Decino. I must admit that now I can't wait for no hit TAS from ZeroMaster of the same map...
Was not expecting this. Really looking forward to seeing the submissions. Lots of meat🍔🍗🥓🥩🍖
I remember having a disc with 250+ levels like this on it that my dad bought back around 1995-1996. This most certainly looks like it could have come from that or another disc like it. Basically 250 levels of “baby’s first Doom map.” At least this author seemed to get close to the enemy/ammo balance. Always fun seeing these old school maps that were released in the mid 90s. Really shows you how far the community has been able to push these games.
FOR ALMOST FIVE YEARS I'VE BEEN WAITING TO FINALLY SEE HIM PUNCH THE CYBERDAEMON AND HE'S FINALLY DONE IT🎉😎👍🏆💪🥊
There's something about these 90s maps and their jank and silly design that's so charming. One of my favorites was made by a bookstore owner of his (at the time) 60 year old Florida bookstore. I hope you accept more at some point so I can submit it.
This is genuinely the funniest video I've seen from you lol.
Your channel is one of my favourite channels on CZcams along with Vertiasium.
13:27 The "Awww", with a 5 seconds regret pause, reevaluating all the amno just spent, till the last rocket, just to be faced with another brand new Cyber, and the chainsaw 😁 EDIT: 13:39 "Ohhh..." - Hahaha, I'm dying laughing right now 😂. EDIT: 14:02 HAHAHA 🤣
I KNOW I was not the only one who looked at the end of my seat the cyber-hallway clearing... Oh boy this was nice one ^^
Awesome! Love to see a map only a few months younger than myself. Always a good day when decino uploads, I know they won't be frequent anymore but I'm still here for it. Great playthrough, love that you added the bonus footage for us.
That's some commitment. Glad to see you doing Viewer Submissions again, even if this experience probably took a lot out of the tank!
Me channeling Elrond: I was there, Decino! Thirty years ago!
I was very young when Doom came out, but I played it (perhaps inappropriately)
Remember, too, that in '94, it wasn't about UV Max'ing everything. It was about the survival, the experience. I quote E1M8 "It wasn't supposed to be like this..." Maps were an art form, a story teller, as much as they were a playable experience -- that hadn't all been done ad nauseum yet.
Decino: That was a Good Shot.
Game: Nah...
Welcome back, decino.
Honestly, the ending of this map is fascinating. Modern Doom maps would usually give you a way to kill the horde of monsters, but in this map the intent is to run the heck away! It's a different mapping ideology.
Also that stairway with barrels on both side was pretty awesome; almost cinematic.
Watched it from start to finish, so dont doubt yourself. This Relic is our heritage that must be cherished, for it demonstrates how far the mapmaking in doom has come.
congratulations decino, single segment and I watched all the way to the end👏👏👏👏
I’m a fan of Big Mac Davis and he mentions you all the time. Had to finally check out your channel. Great work!
This was an awesome video Decino! Thanks for the upload and glad to have you back! Watched every second =)
Awesome! You just made my day pumpkin man!
Absolute legend Decino and especially thanks for the last part!!!
“Bonus footage” is great. Watched all of it.
It's very nice to see another gameplay video from you
Forget God Machine. Forget Swim with the Whales. This was it. Great video
Wowowow, that was intense. You're an absolute madlad for taking on UV-Max! I'm glad I watched the most exciting video you ever uploaded! (1:03:04)
Just so you know, I didn't skip ahead at any point. Enjoy that 100% retention. 😁
Beast upload. Skipped this one since it was an hour but I came back to watch it and I was not disappointed. Glad to have you back!
This is my first time watching one of your playthroughs with the Sub2Decibo in the overlay. Made me chuckle. Its a nice touch lol
Awesome! Congratulations to the 100% video-watchers.
It was actually fun seeing you lure out those Cyberdemons one by one. You're one of the best Doomtubers I know!
(And I have killed the Cyberdemon in E2M8 of Doom, Tower of Babel, with the pump-action shotgun as a challenge. This was way back though, late 90s. And I thought I had done some big shit back then, lol.)
I was born in the 80s and since my parents were sorta against me getting a game console back then, I started my gaming world via PC, in particular the first-person genre. The first games I got were the ominous Zork Nemesis and yes, DooM 2. The vastness and textures here already foreshadow the explorative & eclectic nature of DooM 2 & other Gothic setting games to an extent. Thanks for introducing this map and bringing back memories.
Good to see you posting playthroughs again. I know it sounds kind of lame but I do missing seeing your uploads everyday.
I was making levels during this time. Takes me back to the simplicity of what levels were like.
I always have your gameplay in the background, I think you got me into doom.... i can't remember its been a while since I first watched a video of yours
YOU ARE PUMPKIN!
What a perfect ending to this monday with a new video from our favorite pumpkin man! Much love 😍
You kept saying how uninteresting this must be to watch but I had a great time lol. Speedrunners call the first run in the category a tablefiller, because it fills a hole in the record tables. Glad you had a good time with this crazy old map.
Oh yeah, and on the shots that felt good but still took forever to finish off with the shotgun, chances are that wasn't the fault of your tracers. The BFG shot will do roughly 2800-3500 damage, 1200 damage is 17 shots, plus a few more for the blockmap bug, and it already feels like an eternity lol
Watched every last minute of the bonus material to get my Decino-fix
Decino: "That was a good hit!"
Morgan Freeman, narrating: "But it was, once again, not a good hit. And, this time, Decino used up all his ammo and the Cyberdemon was still alive!"
-This WAD is a total eyesore
+Decent by 1994 standards.
Yeah. Early fan wads were rough. This WAD has kind of a 'I'm 14 and I made this in study hall, I'm getting my best friend to play it and every two minutes I tell him "just WAIT until you see the next room." energy.
Immense, love to see DooD content, always enjoy funny pumpkin man uploads
Gotta love these old mid 90s maps. Brilliantly lit rooms with no light sources and dark rooms staying dark even around where the torch stands are placed. Different times man. I really enjoyed this, thanks decino. 😄👍🏻
I enjoyed the full video, all 100% of it. Reminded me a little bit of your Okuplok streams. You were dealing with some very tedious fights there too. Though, obviously, more challenging and all... but the vibe is similar. You overcoming some bullshit and coming on top. That's pretty epic, if you ask me.
Damn love the commitment great job.
>bonus footage
My good man, this is what I came to see! Love your videos.
The most amazing part of this map is that it has an actual useful googles powerup :o
Welcome back you legend! Hope the baby and momma are well! I'm so happy to see this video! 😉
Damn, this map is 3 months older than me haha! I don't know why, but I feel it's more like a joke map, but maybe it's just 1994 style :D This is really gaming time capsule
Those spider mamas got absolutely destroyed by cyberdemons holy moly
Also red door is apparently red hahaha
I wonder, how submiter found this WAD
aaaand It's so good to see you here, Decino :D
Welcome back! Hope things have been going well!
About a week ago I asked myself where you were. Lol Good to have you back Decino.
Of course I watched the whole thing, welcome back :)
Let's goooooooooo a new video from the pumpkin legend
Oh yeah, one hour video!!!
This is the best come back decino.
Glad you are back pumpkin man! it's been a while
Magnificent! I watched the whole thing.
I was 10 at the time, and both me, and my late father, loved playing DooM. So there is more of us older than 30! 🙂 Nice to see you back, enjoy the little pumpkin!
I was having withdrawals scratching like a crackhead in need of a doom 2 fix. welcome back Deeeeeccccciiiiinnnnnooooo
Maybe none of the viewers were born yet in 1994?! Hey pumpkin man some of us were old enough to play this game back then!
Great vid 49:25 yes I watched while doing some other stuff. You did it.
Wondering if the huge room of enemies around the corner could be used too
You never realise how much you miss the playthrough videos until you go 2 months without them. Welcome back!
Now this gets really interesting! That was a good hit by the way.
This is an interesting one. I enjoy watching a master take on a new challenge.
Spectere showed a nifty tip with dsda-doom, you can set number 1 bind to always prioritise the berserk, so no fear when picking up the chainsaw. I never knew about it.
9:26 wolf3d flashback😁. See you again pumpkin man🎃
Don't sweat it, we all need breaks sometimes! Just glad you seem to be doing well!
Glad to see you back homie.
Good fight! Had a couple close calls there that had me on the edge of my seat!
Welcome back, for a given value of "back" when raising a child is involved :)
Been playing through The Vast Silence, 14 map DBP project. Pretty solid, nice ambience, great use of D64 aesthetics in Doom 2. You might find it a bit snoozish for the first few maps but then that's good for when one is out of practice.
It is both entertaining and nice background noise. :D
It's nice to see old WADs given attention. Good job.
Good one! I enjoyed every shotgun shot. 😊
51:42 HAH! My brain zoned out during this part like yours did. The entire time I was like, "Lure out, wait for door to close, then shoot." but for some reason at this same exact Cyber I thought, "Lure out, activate door to close, and shoot." (skipping the wait for the door to close part) then I went no wait, let the door close first! And then you shot too early essentially goofing up the same time I did. xD
The Cybering 2: Electric bogaloo.
In this Map you have been PunchBob - incredible ! thanks for the Video !
