A second angle of the now-viral Apr. 22, 2021 failed heist attempt has surfaced. The new footage is from a forward looking dash camera, and shows the experienced cash-in-transit truck driver, Leo Prinsloo, using expert tactical evasive driving techniques to evade his attackers.
We overplayed the in cab footage with the new dash cam angle and we can see Prinsloo ramming an attacker vehicle, almost getting it to spinout. He also swerves in an attempt to run over another group of dismounted attackers.
The driver in this video is Leo Prinsloo, a former member of the SAPS Special Task Force, and also the head instructor for Fortis Pro Active Defence’s Lone Operator courses. It was kill or be killed, these cash in transit heists are very popular and well orchestrated in South Africa if they get you they kill you without second thought sobe knew he had to take them head on or they would've stopped him if he had just tried to evade.
Plus ramming their vehicle puts on a psychological attack,this criminals got afraid or even panic and decided to drove away and ditch the plan.

@@UbiDoobyBanooby He used his vehicle to ram in them to make them run so that they couldn't shoot at him, kept his eyes on the mirrors to track them, gave phone to his partner to get help while bullets hitting inches beside his head, all in such short time. I know the vehicle was bullet proof but it's all about adrenaline rush that occurs when life taking situations happen. It's not an easy job to make decisions when someone is shooting at you with rifles even if your sitting in a tank, an untrained person would surrender.
Best part is how he looks like a high-school teacher whom working as a guard

Leo Prinsloo, the driver, was driving a security vehicle escorting a larger truck with the valuable cargo.
When the attackers shot his ride up, the first robbers' car was holding up the truck.
Having evaded the deadly fire, Leo's attention immediately shifted to the truck they were assigned to protect.
The reason he drove into the robbers' who were out of their vehicle was because he was trying to eliminate them as a threat to the main cargo.
He then does an 180, drives back to where the big truck was stopped because he still has a guard's job to do.
After he got stuck, he got out with his assault rifle, at which point the robbers finally gave up and fled.
I didn't realize he wasn't driving defensively he was driving a freaking weapon on the offensive. Awesome mental character. He took the battle to them.

I think what we see ahead is the actual heist: the truck carrying the goods being held up. So by trying to run them over he basically cut the heist short whilst being under attack. What a legend.

Situational awareness 360 degrees, only experience teaches this. Shotgun was his first outing, and maybe 4th day on the job, his reaction is expected and fortunately he was under the wing of a very experienced and capable mentor.

What impress me the most is, immediately after being shot at, he swerved the vehicle to the right to block their guns (you can hear the guns stopped singing after that). It only took him like 1 second to decide. What a legend.

Man he has real balls of steel. Within seconds of attack he turn5 from a victim to attack mode. He even tried to take down some of them by driving towards them. Wow.
Honestly, I don't think he expected to hit them. I think that had more to do with forcing them to choose between getting hit or shooting out his windows. In other words, it kept them from continuing to shoot out his windows, which will eventually give out. Then he rammed them to try and slow them down, because were likely going to try shooting at his windows again.
This guy is definitely a smart one, as it looks like almost everything he did was to buy time and limit the amount of gunfire hitting the windows. Even towards the end of the original cam, he gets out the moment he realizes he's stuck, likely to shoot at them before they can get out of the truck and set up a crossfire.
This is definitely a case of him using aggression for active defense.

IIRC according to the report, there were six vehicles chasing them.
There are 2 armoured vans - one ahead of this driver. The Ford Ranger targets the lead van and successfully forces the armoured van to pull over - you can see both guards running. This driver then attacks the ranger occupants which forces them to flee due to plans going awry.
There was multiple vehicles and men in the heist even if they did successfully rob the truck imagine that small ass payout.
I have to give props to the passenger for not panicking and making things 100x more stressful.
