We're planning a trip to Barcelona this summer and, looking for day trips, ran across Patrick's CZcams Channel. This is what a video guide is meant to be. Well informed, smartly produced videos with no extraneous commentary. Each one is sheer perfection. Well done Patrick!
Thank you!!!

Thank you Lee!
Its a beautiful place. I went there 6 years ago with my school and you have to make sure to buy some of the goat cheese covered in herbs that are sold in those stalls. Some of the best cheese i’ve ever had
Im glad i found you on youtube man, I will be in Barcelona on 25 July, those places are exactly what I want to visit and alot more
Thank you! Hope you enjoy Barcelona!
@@PatrickGuideBarcelona Hi, I will be in Barcelona on April 7-11 are you doing any tours during those dates ?
@@agustinperez6161 Please reach out privately, April has already passed so I am not sure when you are referring to. Thanks for keeping me in mind!
Thank you so much for a brilliant video and all the important info. I will be there April 2023!!!! Muchas gracias!
April 27th is the day of Montserrat so if you’re around that day it’s very busy
@@PatrickGuideBarcelonawe will be there on 1st of June. Can we take you as a tour guide for Monserat? 😊
It is a must! One of the most special places in the area, and if you are into rock climbing there you will find hundreds of classic in conglomerate
Amazing place for rock climbing! There are so many places to see around the mountain. I’m always amazed when I see people climbing in the different spots!
I love Montserrat ! Good video
Thank you!!
Jo també t'estimo Susana.
Very good!! Beautiful!!👋👋
Thank you!!!
Great and informative video
Thank you! Glad you liked it
Amazing place adventure 🙂
Isn’t it?
Como Español estuve una vez cuando tenía 18 años y tengo Ahora 72 años en una ora que estuve es preciosa me dejó impactado como español os recomiendo que vallas una vez en vuestra vida merece lapena
Using the funicular is incredible as you get higher up and hike. If you are not a hiker and you are an American and never been on a funicular, it is an interesting experience. I don't know any place in the US where there are these. Just the experience of going up on a steep "train ride" is an exciting experience! The views are incredible from up there.
It is a cool experience. Yes. And saves quite a bit of walking.
Thank you for your recommandation, I visited it yesterday it was amazing
Glad you liked it. Got a great day for it as well!
Was there last Tuesday 28 June 22. Got train from Clot and cable car from outside the station up to the monastery. No queues to mention while there around midday. Spent most of the day hiking up around the peaks. Absolutely mind blowing scenery.
Thanks for sharing! Yeah amazing views
Frumoasa manastire
Nice one ❤
Thanks man!
Been up there…it’s magical so visit if you can! Even if you aren’t religious you can go just can appreciate it. 🙏😇
Thanks for sharing. When did you go?
I laugh when you blow the candle 😅
We had a good laugh right after filming it! Haha
Nice video...well done.
Thank you very much! Will you be visiting?
@@PatrickGuideBarcelona While I visited Barcelona in 1992 (2 weeks before the Olympics), we never went up to Montserrat. I don't foresee travelling to Europe in the near future, sadly. :(
@rajenwilliams sorry to hear you won’t be returning. I would have loved to see the city pre-1992
@@PatrickGuideBarcelona They were preparing for the Olympics, and armed guards were everywhere when visited. Loved the beauty, people, and food!
Im going to visit Montserrat. I booked the tour
Awesome! Enjoy it! When are you coming?
@@PatrickGuideBarcelona on March 13 monday to montserrat.

Me or the mountain? 😂😂
It's fun, accessible, and the travel is easy and cheap. Definitely a great day trip.
Agreed!
awesome video
Thank you
Extremely helpful guide
Does anyone know if this is accessible in the winter? I'll be visiting Barcelona this January hopefully
Thank you! Montserrat is accesible in the winter, yes
Once other thing, from Montserrat are there any other neighbouring areas worth visiting, that I can visit ideally in the same day. Montserrat will be a day visit so looking for local area suggestions.
Do u do any tour to this place?
we will be there in May 4 to 7. cycling Monserrat.
That sounds like a lot of work. Haha. Hope you have a fun!
@@PatrickGuideBarcelona yes. We land in Barcelona but going straight to Girona. Still figuring out how to get there by bus or train. Will be in Girona for a week then go to Andorra. From Andorra back to Barcelona airport to fly to the Canarias before we head back to Barcelona for 3 nights.
@@FortheLoveofCycling You can get to Girona from Barcelona in 38 minutes by train, much easier! That trip sounds like a lot of fun!
@@PatrickGuideBarcelona thsnk you.
This is so pretty 😍 Where can we buy the tour with you as our tour guide in Feb 2022? Do you have a website? Thanks!

Been there, made of knauf...
Hello Patrick, Great video and very helpful. My wife and I are taking the high-speed train from Madrid to Barcelona on 11/5 (morning). Do you think we have time to visit Montserrat in the afternoon. Any recommendation on the tour company? Many thanks.
You could do it with a car or private transfer. Public transportation would take a bit longer, but I don’t recommend trying to rush it. My private tours are usually between 5-6 hours from Barcelona.
Hi Pat, Glad I found you. Excellent video and great content.
I am looking to rent a car and drive to Montserrat in Aug 2021. What is the parking situation on arrival? I understand there are 2 parking options; bottom tier/ level and mid tier parking but what are the pros and cons of selecting either option i.e. fees, parking duration, parking area closing times etc. If we drive to the cathedral is there a risk of not getting parking at all or will the parking fees be extortionate. please advise.
Hey 👋🏼! If. You’re gonna get a car I would recommend parking up at the top. It’s only a 6€ or so. Peking at the bottom is free and allows you to take the train up, if you want to get the views and experience. Towns around Montserrat: Manresa
Hi Patrick, Thanks for the informative video. As you noted we would like to get to Montserrat early in the morning. Can you please suggest a car or bus service to get to the site early in the morning. Appreciate your time and suggestions. Thank you for the great information. Best from BOS!
Carvan is an option that offers transfers
🙏🏻✨️💙
Sweet video. What is the temperature difference between Barcelona and Montserrat? I imagine being higher in the mountains it will be windier and cooler? I am going at the end of this month.
Yeah, with the elevation it’s always a bit cooler
Love the video. My husband and I will be in Stiges just 5 weeks (April) and plan a day trip to Monserrat. We will have a car. Can you suggest where we buy the tickets in advance?
Montserratvisita is the official page
Many thanks!
Patrick! Thanks for the video. Do you know, how much it will cost to take a taxi. Thanks again.
Not sure on the price but it would be about an hour drive
Hi Patrick. Just went to your webpage to see how much you charge for a tour of Montserrat but saw that your price for a whole group is out of our budget. Do you ever put together groups or is an all or nothing thing? My husband and I will be in Barcelona the first week of May and definitely want a smaller group (rather than a bus). if you can't, can you recommend smaller groups or at least ones that would get us there early like you recommend? Thanks!
Hi Kathy! Send me an email. Easier to talk there
Have you heard of getting the 'All Montserrat' ticket at the Espanya rail station?
Yes, it is an option that includes transport, cogwheel train and funiculars on the mountain
Do you work for a tour company?
Hi, Pat! I am traveling to Barcelona in late September to pick up my son who has been living there for several months. I am not sure where to begin, and the time is fast approaching. I don't have flights or places to stay. Can you recommend where I should start?
Hi Liesel, I would check out flights that coincide with your time to be here. You have my link to Skyscanner in the videos if you choose to use it. I’ve been flying American lately. Hotels: Majestic, Petit Palace, Hotel Colon are some central hotels
Saludos Patrick, me gustaría saber si uno va en auto , Donde se puede estacionar uno?
Hay un parking alli

Nice video!
Great video. Just one question I was told that we now have to pay to see the Black Madonna & to enter the Church? Is this correct or is it still free? Thanks for making time to answer my questions🙏🏻
Thank you! Yes, there have been some changes to the entrances and now the basilica has paid entry. They are still hacking out the details, but from what I understand you must buy the ticket to enter the entire basilica and to see the Black Madonna in one. Best to do it ahead of your visit.
@@PatrickGuideBarcelona ….. Thank You for your very prompt response. It is appreciated. I will be traveling to Barcelona mid-June of this year & would really love to visit Montserrat. Do you know which website I should go, to make advance ticket purchases to visit the Basilica? Again, thank you kindly for your assistance. Have a great day & I thoroughly enjoy watching & learning from your uploads.
Appreciate it! The montserrat website Montserrat Visita

Fan pagar per veure a la Mare de Deu ?

Segur que pujas al cel i si no pagas no entras.😢😢
Sigo tus videos y me encantan.
Adelante.❤❤❤
Did I hear it right that you can see Montserrat in half a day? You mentioned that you and your friend made it back home for lunch..is it correct? I’m just trying to plan this trip and calculating the time. Thank you in advance!
You heard correct! But we drove. There are also tours that do half days. If you take the train it will take more time
@@PatrickGuideBarcelona thank you, it’s good to know this info.

How do you get there if you live internationally? Does it have its own airport or do you have to go through Barcelona ?
Normally you come from Barcelona
@@PatrickGuideBarcelona How is it visa free when you need to go through barcelona?
Hi Patrick, I want to get the TOT ticket for Montserrat. I am trying to understand. Can I buy the ticket at Cataluyna Station and Espanya Station Does the trip only start from Espanya Station?
You need to start from Espanya, yes
Thanks Patrick!
Also have a country named Montserrat
Very true. A monk traveled with Columbus on one of his journeys
@@PatrickGuideBarcelonaactually I search that 😂
Hello, do you still live in Barcelona? I wa thinking of doing a round-trip around Spain and Montserrat definitely will be on my list.
I still do! But you can make the trip either way! Hahah
@@PatrickGuideBarcelona Of course I can, but it would be cool if we could meet. You seem to know everything about it. Maybe there is something else to see in Barcelona? Well, no hurry, my trip is planned for the summer of 2022. Greetings from Málaga!
Yeah, just kidding around! Let me know when you do come! So many things to see in and around Barcelona. I try to make more and more videos about those optiona
@@PatrickGuideBarcelona Okay, let's keep in contact :)
How is de road to Montserrat if we want to go by car? I don’t like rocky roads ;-)
It’s well paved!
No deep valleys and sharp bends?
is there a place to hike and have a picnic or sit in nature?
Yep!
@@PatrickGuideBarcelona great! thank you, and can a person walk wherever they want or are we restricted to the paths?
Are you still doing tours and if so how do I contact you?
I am! Send me an email please 🙏🏼
Hi Pat, my daughter, mother and I are planning to go to Barcelona mid October 2022, we want to visit Montserrat, where can we find guided tours? We will be staying at the Royal Ramblas hotel and I understand there are many scammers out there, just want to be able to find great guided tours and safe as well, I appreciate your help 😀
Send me an email!
Can we reach with motorcycle?
Yep!
One of the things in my bucketlist. Didn’t get the chance to visit this place while we were in BCN
It’s a good one! Beautiful views
Hello I'm traveling with a 60 year old woman that isn't a big walker. Would Monserrat be a smart idea? I know the funicular goes up there but after getting off, is there alot more walking? Any info would be appreciated!
The walk around the monastery and basilica isn’t much. If you want to walk out to the view points, then I wouldn’t recommend it. But you can still do the monumental section
Where its best to park pls?
Ciutadella in the center
@@PatrickGuideBarcelona i mean when we go to montserrat
@elainebalzan9704 montserrat is a natural park. You do have trails to visit
What if I go there in February or March? Is there also such a rush?
Definitely lower numbers outside of high season
Great video just what i was looking for as heading to Spain on a Bike tour next year and looking for nice spots to stop along the way (Give me a Shout if you know of any Nice places to go for Motorcycles in Barcelona would be massive help)
Thanks! If I think of anything I’ll let you know!
No one word about Escolania del Montserrat, one of the most famous and best boys choirs of the world. So no thumbs up for this video from me.

A beautiful country, but I do not think it is easy to obtain a visa because I am from Iraq
It is a beautiful country! I’m not sure about visas from Iraq though. Hope you can get it
From Iraq, a really beautiful country. I wish you the happiest times⚘🕊
I disagree. There is no need to go inside the church. You can do so many things that are not religious. It is a fantastic place. It is incredible to come here and hike. No religious beliefs are required. So no need to be early. If you are religious, follow his advice.
The church is part of Spain’s cultural heritage and that is why you’re seeing it in this video. This video is about Barcelona, Spain. Spain is a predominantly Christian country and Barcelona’s main attraction is the Basílica de la Sagrada Familia. That means that thousands of people (religious and non-religious) are not blind to the architectural beauty of the churches in Spain. They not only recognize its beauty, but its historical and cultural significance, without feeling threatened, angry, or fearful to go inside. They are simply confident in themselves.
The Basilica is absolutely beautiful. Whether you believe in the religion or not, you can appreciate the craftsmanship, the architecture, the culture, etc. Don’t go all the way to Monserrat and miss the Basilica .
Don’t have to be religious to visit a church
Ridiculous. Let people decide for themselves.
