    This week for your consideration i have a 1970's Tonka Camper restoration. I found this old camper at a yard sale. The seller was the original owner. It's in decent shape, just a little rust and scratches on the windshield. One of the windows on the camper was missing. I ordered a new set from www.gasolinealleytoys.com. If you need parts for these old toys, that's the place to get them!
    Thanks for viewing this restoration! I'm working on another project already!

    I know what we used to call the original color, YECH! That collapsible booth is so cool! When I saw that you forgot the windows, I snickered and wondered how far you would get before remembering. Thankfully you have long fingers. Much better color while preserving the spirt of the piece.

    Een schitterende restauratie! Wat moet ik er nog meer van zeggen. Ook de kleur keuze is prachtig. Gelukkig zijn je vingers lang genoeg om de vergeten raampjes alsnog te monteren.

    Well, I tried to yell loud enough to stop before you had the camper in place. But none the less windows did go in well. I am surprised at no plastic in small windows ? BUT even without, it looks fantastic. And I like the sandblasting no matter how long ! Thanks RS for sharing this with us.
    P.S. REALLY like that glitzy new intro. 👍

    I happen to have a pair of pliers that came in a small set that is perfect for doing the tabs. They're like two screwdrivers in design on the outside, but wider and one side can slip under the tab easily then you can grab it and bend it up perfectly. If you can't find ones like that, get an old cheap pair of ordinary pliers, and grind the grip heads down to do the job.

    Nice restore It's probably the hydrogen peroxide in the hair product that is whitening the plastic, you might be able to save a little money and maybe time just using straight hydrogen peroxide. Again nice restore and thank you for your videos.

    • @RustyShepherd
      @RustyShepherd  Před 4 lety +3

      Oh it’s definitely the hydrogen peroxide, but the thick viscosity makes it stick to the parts. The bottle was only 3 bucks and it can be used over and over. RS

    About 1976, I had a Tonka pickup truck. It had the same cab and chassis, but different tires -- they were much wider.
    I realize that it is (almost) the original colour, but I am just not a fan of neon green.
