  • Skidoo has been using the QRS secondary clutch for a number of years. It comes out as a one piece clutch/jackshaft unit. Pretty simple to do once you know the way to do it. I go through the whole in depth removal and reinstall process and give a few tips along the way.

    This is the best instructional video for the QRS clutch removal that I have ever seen! Bravo Sir! Thanks for taking the time.

    What i needed from this video was info how to reset the bearing on the jackshaft. Fought it for 3hrs before finally losing sprocket into chain case. I didnt think the bearing retainer was strong enough to press bearing side-loading. That info woulda saved me 5+ hours and whole lotta frustration and anger. Now i'll be tearing open the chaincase...

      Are you asking about putting the whole jackshaft/clutch assembly bank in the sled or just reinstalling the bearing on the shaft gif you take it off?

      @@mountainsleddergarage8627 entire jackshaft. I struggled re-seating bearing in tower cup, wasnt aware the reatiner bracket pressed the bearing back in. Didnt attempt at first because i was afraid i would bend the bracket. Through facebook i learned the bearing bracket pressed bearing in...but lots of struggle before that.

    Good video, I'm working on an 800r need to clean the carbs and was wondering how the secondary comes off.
    Thank you skidoo for making a ten second job, take an extra hour!
    But at least I know how to do it now.
    And very good explanation of the entire process!

    I like your tip on replacing the helix bolts with Hex Heads. The part I'm not sure on is you won't be able to torque the helix bolts without removing it with the jacket shaft. Not enough room to torque the bolts while still on sled

      It’s hard to get a torque wrench in there. You can usually get an inch lb 1/4” drive in there, as they are quite small. Have to convert ftlbs to inch lbs and hopefully your small torque wrench goes thst high. Lots of blue lock tight.

    Why would my 2ndary clutch not be responding to adjustments? Belt is super loose and its not adjusting..

    • @mountainsleddergarage8627
      @mountainsleddergarage8627  Před 3 měsíci

      Belt too worn or wrong belt? Maybe your adjuster is stripped? Also seen the bolts for the helix come loose and/or brake off.

    Nice video! Thank you. I see that egt sensor plug looks like you welded it in, I’m guessing that can came with one on the bottom… my new g5 expert had the bung at the bottom (aftermarket can) and it’s getting splashed by snow! Running Rich and fowling plugs. I moved it up top, looks just like yours haha👍🏼

    • @mountainsleddergarage8627
      @mountainsleddergarage8627  Před rokem +1

      Yes, it’s not a good place for the sensor. I’d be fine until I rode in deep powder. If you ran wide open it was fine, but if you let off the throttle and got back into the throttle it would bog and sputter badly. My theory was when I let off the throttle the front end of the sled would drop into the powder, blowing cold snow up the exhaust and instantly cooing off the egt sensor. Once I moved the sensor to a place where it stays warm/hot, problem gone.

      @@mountainsleddergarage8627 my thoughts exactly as well, much worse coming down the mountain with the front end diving, 3 feet plus of fresh all day haha it did great on the way up. Headed out tomorrow to give it a try with new plugs and the sensor relocated👍🏼

    Why can't I just take the clutch off the jack shaft and service it?

    • @mountainsleddergarage8627
      @mountainsleddergarage8627  Před 4 měsíci

      I wish it was that simple like polaris&cat. You can buy a jackshaft and clutch that allow you to do that. Most, but not all, skidoo jackshafts and secondary clutches are one unit.
