The last time Dallas had any good defense was the Jimmie Johnson era.they had good offense. Tony room would have had a super bowl or two if they had any kind of defense.
John Madden predicting that Jason Garrett ("a smart guy") would be a head coach "in a couple or so years". And yeah, Jason is a smart guy, but maybe - like other smart guys - is more suited to being a Coordinator than a Head Coach. And oh, btw, now he's the Giants' O.C. I also like how John Madden predicted that DeMarcus Ware would be a star in the NFL. Love how they explained how the rules re handling of footballs on kicks changed after Tony Romo's unfortunate gaffe in Seattle the year before (which a lot of people will never forget, or forgive).
I still think Faith Hill was the best singer for the SNF theme. Not to bash on Carrie, but Faith had the right style to hype you up for the last game of the night.
The 2007 and 2011 runs were a blast to watch because there were a bunch of very good teams to play to win it all. Tampa Bay still had a good defense, the Cowboys have arguably a hall of famer in Romo, the Packers had Favre and Rodgers, you have Brady bookending them all and you have a very tough 49er defense that was a play away from being there too.
2007 Cowboys were a hell of a team in the trenches. #99 Chris Canty later a Giant, #94 Ware, #98 Greg Ellis, #90 Jay Ratcliff, these are all pro bowl level whether they won it or not. The Giants had to play great to run or pass on these guys. On Offensive line, in the playoffs, the Cowboys had their way running the ball against a Giants D line that destroyed the Patriots OL in the SB. I hate the Cowboys, but Appreciate Greatness.

With 7 minutes left in the 4th and youre up by 10 why are you starting the drive passing the ball. Then Romo does his thing by throwing a pick. Same as now run the ballllllll. After the penalty against the Giants in the 4th quarter, the ref said a 15 yard penalty would be enforced after the kickoff. But the Cowboys kicked off, Giants went for a touchback and started at the 20 anyway. With a 15 yard penalty, wouldn't they have to start at the 5? What ever happened to that penalty? Surely a touchback can't just nullify it.
It was enforced. At 1:52:26 the cowboys kicked off from their own 45 yard line instead of their 30. (This was before the NFL moved the kickoff mark to the 35 yard line btw).
This is the year, and this one of those games, that one can watch to see any team can beat any other in the NFL. I hate to hear of "favorites", or "betting lines". Ridiculous to tell a team of pros in the NFL that they cannot beat another team. The Giants beat the impossibles, the Patriots.
I was at that game and it was just back and forth even though it was so freaking humid. Either way the Cowboys were not so lucky when they played again the divisional round.
And running the football is part of the Cowboys' DNA. If you look at their history (and I've seen a lot of that history), whenever they've been really good (as in Super Bowl contenders) they've been among the best in the NFL at running the ball (and run blocking). And, will there ever be another great Cowboys' Fullback...
I miss Texas Stadium so much. AT&T is nice but the atmosphere is TRASH compared to Texas Stadium. I was 14 years old at the start of this game, 2007 was probably the most heart breaking I had ever experienced after how great we did in the regular season up until this year getting absolutely torched by Green Bay after going 12-5 and having the 2nd seed. The curse continues.
