The nature of missing persons cases can vary greatly, both in terms of their individual circumstances, and their eventual outcomes. But few such disappearances match the complexity and mystery of those we will be examining in this episode. Instances where those who went missing, having vanished in front of multiple witnesses, seemingly into thin air.

So you guys...sold out to John, or...what? I can't understand why, you're bigger than he is.
"Wherever I get my podcasts?" I don't see an iHeartRadio icon, and Spotify is a no-go. Oh, well.
I love it
Im going to have to get amazon music, I've never been interested in pod casts but this seems worth it.
These stories have really given me something like 'the creeps'. Being an old woman, I am seldom affected by stories, movies, interviews, & etc., but this episode has resonated with something deep in my psyche. I don't know why. But I can only imagine the horror and anguish of hearing your loved one begging for help but not able to see or find them, knowing they are somewhere you cannot reach them. I don't want to ponder on this for long, it is upsetting.
Same. I can watch almost any kind of horror movie or show without a care in the world but something about Bedtime story just makes my blood run cold and my insides clench tightly. It’s pretty damn addicting.
Damn I’m FLOORED. You’re an old woman and this…..fear and idea of missing people only now JUST occurred to you? WOW. I’m 52 and I was creeped out and haunted by this thought and idea for the last 40yrs……so I’m shocked someone didn’t think on this even a short while until they’re older…….
@@Bone89Don’t be so narrow minded. If *you* actually did some research, you’d find there is far too much evidence suggesting they’re anything BUT urban legends.
@@Bone89 Dave Paulides' 'stories' aren't urban legends but they bear striking resemblance to the way these people disappeared
@@FallenAngel9979Yeah, but dont be so open minded your brain falls out.
The moral of this story is to remain under the bedsheets in your bed listening to Bedtime Stories if you don't want to be teleported into another dimension, but wait! What if there's a parallel channel in that dimension!
It's a channel of immortals and cryptids telling stories about what's really scary... Humanity.
I don't mind. This dimension is making me miserable anyway

Bedtime Stories: Into The Bedtime-verse
The poor family of the missing must be awful to hear those cries for help! 😢😢♥️💖♥️
Wasn't it a hoax, two of the stories at least? With the 16 year old boy and farmer?
@lucialuciferion6720 they are all urban legend.
The missing persons wall at stores like Wal-Mart disturb me at times, because there is always that creeping thought of if some of these disappearances are not foul play, suicide or human trafficking. Too many of those pictures have captions saying they haven't been seen for 10+ years.
I remember when Walmart started putting them up in the 90's.
The one that stuck out for me was the disappearance of a soldier who was moving from one army installation to another. His disappearance occurred in the late 70's, 3 years before I myself enlisted in the army, and that's what caught my attention to it. I haven't thought about it for a long time now, but if I remember correctly, he disappeared after leaving Ft. Lewis Washington to his new duty station to either Ft. Knox or Ft. Campbell Kentucky.
The idea of accidentally slipping in to a parallel dimension and getting stuck there is scary
I always wondered about that myself.
There may be a whole civilization of the lost from this dimension in another by now.
Yep. Imagine being blipped out of dimension for even just a fraction of a second.
Earth's orbit speed is roughly 67,000 mph.
That is an extremely frightening concept.
maybe, as a planet, we already did. I mean, the world didn't end in 2012, but things sure started getting especially bizarre around then.
@@michaellewis486 Things started getting bizarre for me in 1984.
Indeed it is. Extremely scary
There is a very similar tale in Missing 411. A German mathematician/ cosmologist was on a trip in the southwestern US. He stopped along the highway to take a short hike to a sightseeing area and disappeared. A reporter came by the park ranger's office to interview him on the disappearance, but he was on the phone, so she decided to look around herself. While on the trail, she heard a man yelling for help, bit no matter where she went, she could not find him. She raced back to tell the park ranger. His face went pale. He said the exact same thing was witnessed by a search and rescue worker the prior day. No remains have ever been found on the short, flat, open trail.
sinkhole
There are portals all over the world and it would appear that the United States National Parks have quite a few of them. With that being said, whenever I hear stories or the testimonies of people who’ve literally disappeared in thin air as to where the person who was looking for them can only hear the faint cries of their voice without being able to see where the sounds of their voice is coming from, totally reminds me of when Will Disappeared into the Upside Down in the tv show Stranger Things. It’s as if that person somehow managed to walk into a parallel dimension that overlaps the physical realm we live in. Furthermore, there is just so much we don’t know about the world we live in and unfortunately, the powers that be do not want the standard rank and file citizen to know the truth.
@@archangel5627or maybe just a crevice or sinkhole?
There seems to be a correlation between these incidents, and forested land with a stream/river running through it. Tons of 411 stories of people either disappearing, teleporting, losing time, or suddenly waking up with missing clothes/on backwards, etc.
@@gotdangedcommiesitellyahwa6298 Don't they always have their shoes missing too?
Perhaps Charles Ashmore fell into a sinkhole. These are sometimes part of an underground cave network. Some of these are shallow enough that someone could potentially survive a fall after breaking through the thin limestone crust over the void. I've never been to Quincy, IL but looking at publicly available geological surveys, it seems that the western & southwestern portion of Illinois is riddled with them. If it was snowing heavily enough, the loose snow around a sinkhole could potentially collapse over the opening and cover it up right away...similar to the fairly common (and unfortunate) phenomenon of how a snowboarder/skier who fell into a tree well could be buried by the loose snow around the entry site. That may explain why his tracks seemed to end suddenly. If Charles survived the initial fall into a sinkhole, he may have then called out for help but the original hole was already covered. His voice could have penetrated through the snow either where he fell or maybe sound was carried through the underground cave network in such a way that the voice appeared to emerge from a nearby area to trick those on the surface as to its origin. His calls for help would have weakened over time until he ultimately died from cold/starvation.
A solid theory for some disappearances but, are some sink holes intentionally created like boobytraps by subterranean entities hell bent on abducting humans? 😮
Sorry, but the two last stories are in fact short stories by the nineteenth century fiction writer Ambrose Bierce. They’re called “Charles Ashmore’s trail” and “The Difficulty of Crossing a Field”.
Bierce wrote stories that today would be called creepy pasta.
You should have checked out the case of Alvar Larsson in Sweden. A 13-year-old boy in 1967 who went out to get firewood from a shed a few meters from the family home and completely disappeared - from an island. More than 15 years later his skull was found on a another small island more than 6 kilometers away.
They covered this in the video, however.
That's funny, I love "The Damned Thing" I'm not usually big on stories from the 1800's but that one's great. I love how he disappeared himself though, I'm pretty sure he planned it out that way too which is awesome. He told people that's how he'd like to go while he was alive, a mysterious disappearance.
The Charles story frightened me terribly as a child. 😨

Thanks for recommending this channel to us MrBallen I listen to it last night and slept so good 😊
There was an American film released in the mid 1980s, starring Gregory Peck and Jane Fonda, called "Old Gringo" - a fictional story about the disappearance of Ambrose Bierce.
Mr. Peck was one of the truly great actors.
He does a marvelous job as Ambrose Bierce.
I remember a famous Victorian case of this I read about years ago. A man was running being followed by his servants in his coach & horses, when he fell INTO the road and disappeared in front of their eyes. He didn’t fall into a hole- he fell and disappeared into the road- into the ground. No hole. Nothing. Just gone.
You should do a video about Reino Magico (Magic Kingdom). The legend is about an abandoned cemetery in Mexico that was converted into an amusement park. The park is cursed because some of the coffins weren't relocated and souls remain there haunting the ground from tragic deaths to statues coming to life.
That sounds interesting 👀
*sees abandoned cemetery* "You know this place would make for a great amusement park" 😒 😅
Man, it is always a pleasure to hear people talk about the Ashmore disappearance since we dont talk about it as much. It happened so locally to me and it's almost forgotten.
I grew up just a stone's throw from Quincy, Illinois, and I had never heard of the Ashmore disappearance. What a spooky, inexplicable case!
@@Sam-lm8gi I was born in Quincy but I live in a nearby town as well. I never see it mentioned over the likes of Springfield or Peoria. Hannibal always gets the attention because of the cave and Mark Twain.
@@MintyLime703 For sure. Just goes to show you that the Fortean/paranormal/unexplained is literally everywhere. Not just in popular places.
Maybe people don’t talk about it as much because it’s from a FICTIONAL short story called “Charles Ashmore Trail”.
Oh yeah, and all those 411 stories are BS too.
People get hurt and go missing in nature. Its not that crazy and it’s not supernatural.
The Cecil Hotel, The Winchester Mystery House and the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel would be a good idea about haunted hotels!
Ambrose Bierce was known to visit the sites where people disappeared. I think he wanted to disappear, himself.
the relatively big channels with big teams with all their income don't even provide custom visuals with their storytelling, unfortunately only simply googling and inserting or using the same old lame clips that everyone uses has become the norm. Thanks for not only providing great quality and novel content but also doing it while providing artists an opportunity for work. the whole package of audio and visuals is why this channel is the best in the storytelling category. Although channels like Ballen is enjoyable there are many like it, conversely their are only a very very few like yours.
Not to mention they're all AI written now.
Used to be just AI driven visuals. Then they all went to AI narrations. Now they're fully scripted and composed by it.
They aren't even edited or watched beforehand by a human being. You can easily tell. Usually the channels that pump out daily.
It's awful and I hate it.
BTS has something very special to it. I hope they can stay their course.
Hear. Here. The animation makes me miss portions of the narration 👍
I love both BTS and BC. Both narrators present their stories in very unique and creepy ways, that the others don't

Ambrose Bierce is an interesting figure. He saw a lot of action during the Civil War. 'An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge ' is one of my favorite stories of all time.
The vanishing of Ambrose Bierce is a genuine mystery amplified by his writings involving the paranormal.
Given his fascination with the subject, I wouldn't be surprised if he made himself disappear.
Yes! Be sure to read The Wendigo by Bierce if you haven't. Awesome writing!
he reported from the mexican revolution a very violent time and he felt into dispute with several revolutionaries no need for a supernatural explanation for his vanishing
He's in carcossa now...
I could be wrong but I think you mean Algernon Blackwell, not Bierce for that story.....Wendigo in the Canadian woods...moose hunters, etc. ? @@leeburks4540
regarding the ashmore case:
Pretty sure (based on the given information) that the boy somehow slipped/sunk into a cave system under the property, causing the dirt/snow to close the hole behind him.
It would explain his sudden disapearance, the cries for help comming from semingly random locations (echoing through the caves) and why they stopped a while later (he struggeled for several days before his death.)
Clever speculation but unless proof of such cave was even researched in such property, it's just Wild speculation.

Starting October off with Bedtime Stories just feels right.
These remind me of the old stories of people stumbling into "fairy circles" areas of rocks or vegetation in circles that could be mere feet or yards across. Stepping into one at the right/wrong time ( depending on how one views it ) one was pulled into the fae realm. Usually one becomes stuck there, and at times one is completely unaware of the passage of time. There have been reported instances ( supposedly ) where a lucky friend or family member has been in the place at the right time and could hear the missing person. One tale told of a boy who actually dared to step one foot into the circle and leave the other outside the circle and managed to not only see, but catch gold of his brother and bring him back out after several years. And the boy who had been missing had no idea he'd been gone for more than a few moments, as he'd been attracted to the music and dancing of the fae.
I love stories such as these and would love to know where you learned of them!
@@MurronWright Oh there have been far too many sources to remember them all. But the Time Life series of books called Enchanted World series held a lot of stories of fae, ghosts, witches, giants and other things. They are hard to find now, but they are great books.

It’s cases like these that really make me question the logical, I try to look at it from a logical standpoint but still no answers other than one question, is it actually possible that a door way opens up to some where else and we just don’t understand the what or how’s this is even possible

Real moral of the stories is don't go in the woods alone. The wilderness seems endless some days, but it does end some's day's.
Tis the season for Bedtime stories! Are you guys going to do a Halloween Spooktacular?
I hope so,I hope they don’t call it that though😜
Every story on the Bedtime Stories channel is spooktacular! 😁
I prefer the spooky side of Halloween and autumn in general. It's the perfect time of year for spooks to come out.
Guess not.
The Williamson story is a fable.
I still wonder about Tom Messic from 411 the hunted. Very strange how he up and vanished with 3 other guys around that hunted the area before.. and one said he jeard what sounded like "a big trap closing". Not sure what he meant by that..? He did not specify. But it makes you think of a UFO. And ive seen the damn things twice in my life.. they do exist! Once with my neighbor. But the thing was so huge that i doubt it could even land anywhere in the area.. probably came from a place 3 or 4 times the siz of earth! No joke.
yeah, one theory you guys didn't go over, but I feel has serious merit, is that the whole "disappearance" of the first guy, was a cover story. IE the man who related it was lying to hide the fact he let the guy get assassinated.
the other two are just creepy ghost stories.
One theory you didn’t go over is they were both killed & the body man was replaced by a similar looking person. They didn’t have video calls then and being dispatched from England to Austria during war time would be a long journey Long enough for someone to age and not be made upon returning to England
@@khworker1322 Yeah, that is an idea. The guy who "lived" might have actually been an imposter.

stories about ghost from the Civil war is another good good idea
For everyone that’s thinking they’re somehow SAR experts, let me tell you as someone who has actually volunteered and has many friends that do that for a living.
You basically break down the entire area in at least a 10 mile radius into a grid. In that grid is 6-8 feet squares, usually that overlap on the borders so that way nothing is missed. They then cover that entire grid going up to down, and then left to right. You compare this with almost every SAR unit having dogs, air oversight, and forest rangers that have intimate knowledge of the areas.
Sinkholes as an answer is idiotic as sink holes in almost any terrain are completely obvious as they create a huge disturbance in the ground, and any fresh ground will be looked at with ground penetrating radar, and would be easily found by dogs.
Animal predation is a different story but ANY life or death struggle, animal on animal, or animal on human, will absolutely leave a disturbance. Blood, drag marks , ripped clothing, etc. Once again dogs are trained to smell animals as well. Most SAR missions can cover hundreds of square miles and people missing like this would not be able to cover the distances outside of the SAR zone by any type of normal means.
People talking about how these cases can be explained by lazy SAR or somehow missed have not worked in the forest nor have any real idea of the outdoors. Yes you can get lost, but believe me people leave trails WHEREVER they go.
I recall reading about the disappearance of David Lang, in his own field, while observed. You can google his case. Never forgot his name.
It was in the book "Majestic", used as an example of exraterrestrials trapping people for experiments.
Another Great story. Thanks for the upload.
So, there were clues after Benjamin Bathurst vanished; his coat was found as were his breeches- with 2 holes thought to have been made by a gun after they'd been removed. He was never found but the thinking was that he was taken by thrives who noted his fine clothes.
Honestly I’ve heard of earth giving away where there are caverns under the ground. Also having dirt fill in over the top of the hole. That would also explain people being able to hear them for a week or so.
That’s awesome that Mr. Ballin gave a shout-out and is working with y’all I hope the channel will get the recognition y’all absolutely deserve I’ve been watching since the beginning and it’s still my absolute favorite! All the best Gentlemen

The kid and the farmer sounds more like they fell into a crack and were lost between dimensions and the cracks eventually either sealed or shifted and they probably didn't end up anywhere at all and are in limbo. Not sure which would be worse going to a new dimension/parallel universe or being stuck in between where there's probably just nothing but lost people.
