    Yes, this was helpful to see how the gears work with the top off. I'm trying to fix mine on MF231

    Brother...Thank You! I was seeing dollar bills flying out of my pocket. I used your video that helped me realize I could stick a big screwdriver in the cap and free up the gears. Massey Ferguson 240. Thanks again!

    Thanks bud I'm doing one now on a 1428v now I know where to go. Thanks, the bad part is I have a 210 myself so I'll probably have to do mine in the future even though I use mine every day to move engines and trailers.

    Tractor forums say that you should shift gears without pulling up on the shifter to avoid this issue on an older tractor. Pulling up lets the shifter slip out of the groove and jams the shift mechanism.

    My mf 375 got stuck in reverse gear yesterday. The left gear shifter would hardly move, and was in an upright position like it was in neutral, so something was blocking it from moving as it should. Saw your video and decided to give it a go myself. Found the gear lever spring broken. The widest (upper) part of the spring had slipped below the locking circlip at the end of the lever and jammed both linkages to 1st and reverse (#2 from the left) and 2nd and 3rd (#1 left). The narrow part of the spring was still in place above the circlip. Changed the spring and put some grease on the ball on the lever arm with the locking pin. Then put all linkages in neutral and aligned the lever arms carefully to slip correctly into the slots as I moved the plate with the lever arms back in place. Tractor up and running again, shifting fine through all gears. The gear lever spring is hard to compress while the fitting the circlip if you do this alone. Lock the lever arm in a bench wise or have a friend to hold the lever arm while the spring is compressed. I think the spring is the same through all series from 135, 200s, 300s and up to the 5000s. Thanks!

    Hi Jay! Did you get it up and running? We just got our Massey Ferguson 240 stuck also. None of the gears are locking into place, the stick gear moves very easily. Yes this video is helpful. Thank you!

    Hi, I have a 3060 mf 4x4 tractor when put # 1 or any other gear it can't move please can you help me on this problem?

    • @jwynn324
      @jwynn324  Před 5 lety

      1st thing I would do is take the top trans cover off & see if the shifter spring is broken if it is most like the trans is in 2 gears at once & youll have to manually unstuck the gears with a long pry bar
