Thanks for this video. My 35 got stuck in 1st the other day and I thought I was doomed. I'll try this method.

The problem I see here is the oil is too thin.
Next time use petroleum 90 oil and it won't get stuck again because these are old tractors designed to run on thick oil!
You'll thank me in the long run.
_Btw I one 4 of these tractors and they are my babies!_

New to our mf 135 after bad accident. Sat in field for year where mishap occurred. Got running but stuck in I think third. Dropped what was left of hydraulic fluid(looked milky). About a gallon or so. Put in tractor supply premium UTF. Maybe 6 or 7 gallons(I know it takes 8) just to see if it made a difference. But it didn’t. Is the 90 much thicker. Determined to get this going again. Would think brother in law would’ve wanted that. Need to do some serious bush hogging

Guys ur detent ball &spring worn out, change them ,should be good 2 go,as ur fork slides back &forth, ball slides into slot on frk,Friday, holds it in place when shifting, gotta pull top plate ,steering box to fix it!!!!,not hard ,just tedious!!!!

Does this have to be done with engine running? Mine is stuck in I think third gear. Can’t get in reverse or in any other. High and low work in whatever gear it’s stuck in. Pto works and lift works

I have a MF-135 Industrial from the late 70's or early 80's. It has a 3 cylinder Perkins diesel, Hi/Lo Range transmission selector with a 3 speed forward and 1 reverse transmission. Engine runs great but tractor is barely able to drive forward even with engine revved. Brakes work fine and hydraulic trans oil is full. PTO and loader work fine. There is no grinding of gears when I shift. Not sure if my clutch needs to be adjusted or if it needs to be replaced. Any clues as to how I would check?

I have had my transmission get stuck in 1st gear and it acts like it will allow me to shift to the next gear, but it is truly stuck in 1st. And this may sound stupid but make sure there isn't a parking brake on. I'm no expert, and sorry for the late reply. Happy trails

@@mattsherrard4587 Not the brakes (they work fine) and I'm able to freely shift between gears. There just any motive force to the drive train even though the engine is running fine. I can't pull any implements at all. Tractor barely climbs my swales and dips. Only thing I can think of is either a clutch adjustment or possibly a bad clutch/pressure plate. I'm having a Massey mechanic out tomorrow to troubleshoot. I'll let you know the verdict.

@@timdippel7517 Hey Tim. Turned out to be a worn out clutch plate. Had to break the darn thing in half to install a new one. Tractor ran fine up to 3 months ago when I couldn't get it to fire up. I suspect it has something to do with the injector pump.....not a cheap rebuild. Weighing my options as we speak. In the meantime, we bought ourselves a 30 hp John Deere w/ loader & 4 wheel drive. Darn nice tractor too! Made it real easy for me to put the Massey on the back burner.

@@socalpal8416 wow. Hope ours doesn’t take all that. One CZcamsr suggested mine was the detention balls and spring needs to be serviced at the shift plate. This is a MF 135 that sat in field for the last year after brother-in-law had it flip on him killing him. Few weeks ago I determined to go get it running and get it back to his house half mile away and we did and we got even the hydraulic working again, but I believe when it happened to him, he said it would only go into one gear or didn’t go into second gear. He has a bush hog that I need to get going again to start chopping down a good many acres. He wouldn’t want it to just sit there. In the middle Georgia area. Forcing me to learn this ole jewel of a tractor
      Thanks for the quick response

Both of my gear levers are stuck and won’t move. Have you had this problem at all?

    • @mattsherrard4587
      @mattsherrard4587  Před 3 lety

I don't believe that I have. Make sure you aren't on a hill or anything and then try to switch gears without the engine on.

Matt Sherrard I came right. Disconnected the disc plough and with the help of my boy we pushed and pulled the tractor and it came out of gear.

How hard do you usually have to pry? Mine is stuck in 3rd. All I had was a gasket scraper so it wasn't very long. I couldn't get it. Do I need a 24" pry bar?

I can do it with a screedriver that is hefty usually no longer than 12 "

@@mattsherrard4587 okay. I've been looking and it seems like the shifter spring might be broken and causing it to jam. I might have to take the top off and change the spring out
