Should have seen when I was running a mortar crew in Squad. I was calling out targets and marking them on the map, then this LITERAL KID proceeds to accurately and efficiently put Warheads on Foreheads. Best mortar guy I've ever played with by far!
I had like 150 kills on artillery and game was almost over. I landed one shell on a broken arrow request on the mid point and got like 10 team kills and got kicked💀
At least that's better then accidentally shooting you're teammate in the head and instantly dying due to the damage reflected feature in insurgency sandstorm
Use the arty calculator. Then do a real artillery thing called a sweep and zone. You first shot will be 754 for example. The you go up 4 mils to 758. Then you go down to 750. Now move a bit to the left or right and fire another 750. Then go up to 754. Then to 758. The go in the opposite direction you just went and then fire at 758. Then down to 754. Then end on 750. This creates a grid of artillery that can only be escaped by pure luck. I have over 100 kills in life before on arty when the enemy team had incompetant snipers.
Use the Artillery Let Loose calculator (on iOS and Android) Game changer for me because I had to guess the in between distances and I often got teamkills when hitting broken arrows. But if you use the calculator. U can hit pin point areas, especially if u know it's a 20m spread on arty, take that into account and u can completely shut down a push in an obj

I rarely get more than 4 but i may get one if I'm unlucky or people tell me to fire on a target, then immediately rush it like lemmings
Also, play as a squad lead in a locked squad (so you are solo) so that other SLs and Commander can help you adjust your fire as necessary/call in smoke to assist them.
Even better get friends along and lock the squad Insane amounts of metal explodey death rain and fire missions along multiple fronts just tell the squad leads not to push up for a solid ammount of time so the enemy can get thoroughly *buttered*

I remember like a year ago I was playing on a map with a bridge. A dude was teaching me how to aim artillery. He was a loader. And after shooting like 10 rounds he asked me "you're aiming for the enemy side of the the bridge, right?" My last words were "oh sh*t". Right after that we were kicked. Never made that mistake again
The real gamer move is to have a medic from your squad chill with you and just smoke in front of you over and over if recon shows up The counterplay for artillery in this game is fucking terrible though. Artillery gameplay loop and armor gameplay loop suck. 88cm were penning Abrams from the front and in this game you get a dog shit AT gun that can't be moved or bad man portable launchers that only do damage from behind. Ruins the game
I figured this out pretty quick. I was intimidated, but left behind by the transport truck. I saw where an enemy supply drop was pinged and unleashed a few shots, and suddenly 54 points in the kill category.

One time my team was absolutely getting steam rolled on offensive and i went to the arty on the last object with a squad mate and completely haulted the enemy. One Artillery gun stopped the entire team and let us win. Artillery can make or break a game
Step 1 - be SL in a locked artillery squad. You have access to command chat, all markers lsud down by the commander and SLs, and can place your own markers. If you place various move/attack/defend/supply markers you can have both quick reference points for multiple map locations and also bracket an individual location by placing 2 or 3 markers around an area eg a cap point. Its then very easy to adjust to any specific spot around your bracket markers
Squad has two forms of artillery, tactical, or call-in artillery and mortars. The former, the commander can simply click on the map and designate targets for the artillery, the latter works similarly to how artillery is shown here.
I once managed to get 112 artillery kills in one game as a lone gunner. The enemy sniper teams never managed to get me. I'm pretty sure some players left that game with PTSD
If you are going to play artillery, please be willing to build and maintain a set of nodes. Arty is exceptionally powerful but it is a harsh drain on munitions if you can’t keep up nodes either with unwilling engineers or a good recon team.

Ive turned the tide of games using arty, had a game with over 180 kills because i had a spotter find the main enemy garrison and i got around 120 kill in about 8 mins
Also hint don’t sit on the artillery whole game with whole squad using supplies the teams doesn’t have. Just finished a game and we had 43 munition supplies
There is more to artillery than this. This is arty for dummies. There is elevation (the artillery piece and your target) the numbers it gives you are for completely flat ground. You need a spotter up by where your shells are landing to let you know where they hit from where you were aiming. There is also a phone app that calculates all of that for you depending on what map and which gun you are using, able to hit a penny on the front with it
Once you get good at it and can accurately hit targets its the funnest thing. One game on omaha beach i kept the advancing enemy off us when the were like 100 meters close
Alright true gaming story, watched this, had never tried artillery but I was like sure can’t be hard, watch where my team mates are lining up on the map, shoot rounds just past them and around them.. anyway I got a 55 kill streak all with the arty.. we were on defence the entire time that was abit easier & we lost the game.. I doubt me being on the front line would have been better than the 55 kills I lucked out on. 10/10 suggest
For some mental math, calculate the middle the above and below. These are 670 & 693. What's between 7 and 9? 8. What's between the 0 and 3? 2ish. This is 681/2 and assume that is 1350. Looking at the 670 and new found 681, find the middle of that which is 675/6. This is your 1325. You can estimate down a few mils to get your target. No calculator needed. It's really simple math that looks intimidating
I just pulled 60 kills with it today (3rd time using in, match before it I had 20 but accidentally bombed my team and was kicked) was looking for more advice on it appreciate this

I know there’s a lot of bad artillery guys but there’s a few really good ones. I just played a game yesterday where I got 87 kills with only 3 friendly kills. Then some db who was lvl 100 kept killing me the whole rest of the game bc he ran into a motor strike the commander requested. So stupid, let your artillery guys help you and give them credit instead of always trying to kick them immediately.
Did the math cause I’m lonely on Valentine’s Day: Every 1 degree on the range finder is about 4ish-6ish meters ( I use 5, works great for me) basically every 100 meters is 24 degrees, so quickly calculate the target then vary by half degrees (quick clicks of w or d work for this) also, halfway is 12 degrees which saves on the math TLDR: I’m retarded and every degree is about 5 meters with artillery, no need for mortar calculators
Idk how I get so unlucky but every game I join we have 0 artillery guys and 0 tank guys (or they just suck), while the whole enemy team has like 4 tanks out, and 3 artillery guns all shooting at us and destroying us. Its ALWAYS the other team that plays like that too. Idk how I get all the trash players on my teams.

Problem with that is the artillery is not accurate it has a 20m variation an it takes around 24 secs for it to land

Played the game since it came out. Arty is not perfectly accurate. If you aim fir the exact same spot 10 times you will NOT hit it 10 times

But when the enemy sniper shows up you might as well go join the front lines because they have nothing better to do then to spawn camp

Fire one round in the adjust until within kill radius of the target, and then fire a 3 round fire for effect.
