    I got 5 litres of magi foam when I bought my lance. It will never get used up now as I’ve discovered BH Auto Foam is much better at actually cleaning the dirt off. The Magifoam was good at making neighbours ask what the hell you doing though, as it looks like you covered the car (and road / driveway) in shaving foam!

      I'm the same. I ended up putting in a little citrus in with it and it seemed to help reduce the foaming and improve the cleaning. Need to do some more testing though. Certainly easier to clean up after! 😂

    I use KKD blizzard extreme, I like the added cleaning power while still LSP safe, for me it gets my car almost completely clean, leaving minimal work for the contact wash to do. Thanks for the channel, I've learned loads from your videos!

    Bilt Hamber due to the fact that it simply cleans so damn well compared to most others. I am looking to achieve a rather thinner foam layer due to the fact that the layer stays closed and doesn’t break up like thicker foams where big portions just slide down and leave “dry” areas behind.

  • @tekzonesoundvisionltd1200

    Wax planet eight below is my current go too, great cleaning ability almost on par with auto foam, good dilution, works out about 60p per mixed up litre and is a thicker foam than auto foam so better dwell time. My go too pre wash for this winter

      Yeah! Best product and not the thickest foam but thick foam often is only for marketing purposes. Bilt Hamber Surfex HD (APC) is a unbelievable cleaner and can be used with foamer, if you are prepared to use something that is not so safe for your wax/sealant.

  • @rattlehead85
    @rattlehead85 Před 6 lety +1

    Have to say I use the Valetpro ph neutral snow foam as my go to pre-wash product. It just does the job, no fuss, foams nice washes off well and lifts the loose muck before moving onto the megs gold class shampoo. I personally think snow foams can be a bit of a gimmick as I have tried others and found them to be a lot of eye candy foam making them look great but come to the real reason why you apply them they fall down. As long as it lifts dirt the smell and amount of foam is a minor, I’d rather have something without the foam wow factor which does the cleaning bit over a foam heavy product any day.
    My top 3 are...
    1) Valetpro advanced pH neutral
    2) Angelwax cleanliness
    3) Bilthamber auto foam
    These all deliver good results imo

  • @Matkinson91
    @Matkinson91 Před 6 lety +2

    Bilt hamber Autofoam for me too, as other people have said, its dirt cheap, its has probably the best cleaning ability on the market, and the best dilution ratio (as far as I'm aware) I'm not really keen on boat loads of foam, its too messy for me although i can see why other people do it and why people who don't really know much about the detailing stuff, see it as an excellent, fun thing and when it is used, they think "they're doing a proper job"
    for me, I use a 8litre hozelock pump sprayer with 4-5 % of BH in there, the lance is much more practical to get into tighter places (arch liners, engine bays, jambs etc...)

    Per THIS video I bought a bottle of this and just got it today. My IK Foam 9 has another product in it right now so I used my recently acquired IK 1.5L foamer to try it out.
    I added .5 oz and added 35 oz of water and got after it. I'm pleased to report that this product worked EXACTLY like it did here, blew me away with how thick the foam was, keep in mind this was in a 1.5L hand pump, I can only imagine how it's going to work in my 1.3 gallon IK Foam 9, more pressure means even thicker soap, amazing product and I'm very appreciative of the great review, THANK YOU🇺🇸

    A great snow foam is the koch chemie active foam. I've used quite a few different ones and from my testing it had the best cleaning ability, and also a really clingy foam. It's alkaline though, and not the cheapest on the market but in my world it performed the best so well worth it for me.

  • @ROGERSWKS
    @ROGERSWKS Před 6 lety

    Given you are testing Snow Foams criteria I would suggest are: cost per use, ease of application, coverage and ease to rinse away.
    In addition I would love to know your take (maybe you could use these as comparisons) on two other applications:
    1) Plain water - what's the difference in just rinsing the panel with plain water.
    2) Optimum No Rinse (at wash solution 256:1) - sprayed over the panel in a pump sprayer.
    I know there is a proprietary video on CZcams about doing this but I'd like an expert, independent opinion on this.
    Finally, your videos are excellent, thorough and informative. Thank you.

    Hi Jon, after using quite a few, I’ve settled on their own branded snow foam from The Ultimate Finish... I have to say it very good value, and most of all it works brilliantly. What I personally like is the fact that it isn’t too thick which allows the products to dwell long enough to work but allows it to run down the panel moving any bonded material. I give it a thumbs up and more importantly it doesn’t strip my car of waxes and protection that I’ve applied. 10/10. £14.95 for 5 Litres !!!

  • @jc7879
    @jc7879 Před 6 lety

    I started off with Auto Finesse Avalanche. I found it didn’t really remove much. I still have some left, but I’m currently using Autobrite Direct’s Magifoam. Yes, it is shaving foam thick and has a really long dwell time given the right conditions. I have also found it capable of removing more dirt and grime compared to Avalanche. Only downside is it fades trim. Not a problem though when you’ve got chemicals that revive the trim.

    I was previously using Magifoam, which was very thick but seemed like it didn't really have much cleaning action.
    Recently picked up BH Auto Foam, and the cleaning power blew me away. Did try it at the 4% PIR but tried it again at about half the dilution (250ml in a 1L lance) and it still cleans a lot better than Magi foam.

    At the moment I use valet pro ph neutral snow foam which I find works ok on gtechniq coated cars. I also just purchased BH autofoam as I think it’s ph neutral, I’m worried about them degrading my coatings/waxes and I hear it works well. I used to use magifoam but I find it is way too potent and it stopped my coatings lasting their expected times when using at the recommended dilution. Also I dislike how it stays on the drive for ages and does not wash away. I’m stuck with about 3 litres of it lol. Now I only use it for unprotected cars and for stripping washes.
    Also would just like to say thank you for doing your videos. Your videos are the ones I looked forward to the most. ♥️

      I think its potentially/probably masking the coating more than eroding it jonny. the PH level really isnt going to tell you if like a pre wash is more deterimental to a coating or a wax or something, thatd what I was told anyway and it kind of makes sense... its more about the specific chemicals used in the product and the concentration and dwell times. Some prewashes have alcohol solvents in them.. some limonene.. some sodium based alkalines, various forms of detergents and surfactants and alcohol eythoxolates..

    I use Pro-Kleen snow foam, you can buy 10L plus a lance for under £40, most of them have dye so you can show the colours off either on your own car, or if you are a detailing business your customer can admire the strawberry milkshake feature haha. All of their snow foam products are PH neutral and they are very thick, ive left a heavy 300/1000ml dilution of the stuff on my car for well over 10 minutes in fairly warm weather and nothing happens to the paint in terms of the dye sticking to the paint, or leaving patches etc. Really recommend this product 🙂

    Gtechniq Citrus Foam seems very good at resetting the hydrophobic properties of a ceramic coating if you see it’s starting to fade, I guess it’s doing a good degreasing deep clean back to the coating. For a normal wash my go to is Gyeon Foam, simple and good results every time.

    Auto foam for cleaning as a pre wash. Autoglanz Spritzer during the summer as BH auto foam is prone to drying out in the warmer weather. I also have an assortment of less potent foams like KKD and Obsession Waz Blizzard which I use over the top of auto foam to prevent it drying out. Essentially doing it this way to use it up as cleaning power just isn't up to par on many of the other foams I have found.

    I'm another using BH Autofoam. Not a huge amount of foam but it achieves a decent pre-wash and I don't have to rinse a load of stubborn foam into the drain/street! BTW, I assume MagiFoam is a play on the words Magic and Foam so should be a 'soft' g. Slight tangent but have you ever tried Chemical Guys Clean Slate? I switched from angelwax fast foam to auto finesse avalanche, it feels like a traffic film remover lite rather than just a snow foam. For heavy soiling I’ll use the auto finesse citrus as a pre wash before the avalanche - it just gets expensive as it goes in the lance undiluted. I recently bought the new griots boss foam, seems to pre clean about as good as a decent shampoo in the lance, but it sure smells nice, like pina colada

    Settle an argument.....Snowfoam from the sills up or the roof down? I always go from the roof down as you have done in this video. But there are others elsewhere who state it should be done from the sill up in the name of 'efficient' use of the product. Then they go on to say to rinse from the bottom up, which I find ludicrous to be honest. if you're washing a car especially in the winter, and the sides of it from the swage line down are covered in muck and shite, surely blasting the aforementioned muck/grit and shite up the side of it is a bad idea....call me crazy. I was taught to start with the roof and work your way down so as to remove all the grit in a downward fashion so as not to risk marring/swirling the paint with muck/grit or shite lodged up top from rinsing from the bottom up??? Confused dot com.

    Cleaning power is what i want from a snowfoam, which surely should be everyone's no.1 when looking for a good snowfoam.
    So wether their runny or thick, i have no preference aslong as it cleans well.
    My favourites at the moment are angelwax fastfoam, bilt hamber autofoam and waxplanet eight below, going to be trying ag spritzer soon, as i have heard good things.
    If i was to choose one, it would be waxplanet, it's pretty much perfect for me snowfoam wise, cleans extremely well, dwell time is good, good dilution ratio, and just the right consistency, more on the thicker side i would say, it's a great all rounder and has every aspect covered very well.

    After so much research, trials and tests this is my opinion
    Most thickest snow foam - Autobrite Magifoam HOWEVER performance of cleaning is terrible I ended up selling one of my 5L bottles and kept the other - I will explain below
    My favourite snow foam and combination below
    Bilt hamber autofoam BUT please note it’s not thick at all but the cleaning performance is superb!
    If I am doing a weekly or fortnight clean I would use bilt hamber alone
    However if the car is slightly more filthy I would add 50-75ml of my autobrite magifoam to my bilt hamber mix so it’s thicker and clings to the car for longer
    Now if the car is very filthy I would do the above mix PLUS a dash of Koch chemie green star to the mix

    • @clivearnold8796

    • @noeking9095

      Clive Arnold your should try it , it’s a shame autofoam is very good but if your car is protecting with wax or sealant the stuff doesn’t want to stay on so most of your snowfoam is wasted unless you can make it hang on for longer for the autofoam to work, that’s where I thought of magifoam as my clinger 😏

    I've been using AutoGlym 'Polar Blast' mixed at 100ml of product to 500ml of water. Which I'm getting two cars + from with my foam lance.
    I must say I really like it! It produces long lasting and very thick foam which seems to clean reasonably well, aswell as clinging to even very hydrophobic waxes.
    It's also priced okay with the trade discount applied. Washes off with no fuss at all too.

    After trying quite a few I have settled on Angelwax cleanliness, although not strictly a snow foam it does foam up very well through a lance. Great cleaning power as it is citrus based and is lap safe.
    I have got Wax Planet 8 below to use and have heard good things about it.

    I was using Bilt Hamber but I’ve totally gone off snow foam now, just use a pressure washer and its saving me time and money. I only use snow foam now on my dirt bike but up the concentration big time and completely cover it.

    Auto Finesse - Avalanche. I think thickness is important but its ability to stick to the paint rather than run straight off is what I’m after. You want to let it soak in a bit but it’s no good if it’s all on the floor in 10 seconds

    I’m using Gyeon foam at the moment as it was on sale when I bought it and wanted to give it a go. It does, what it is supposed to do, delivers a nice layer of foam. Before that; my go to foam was the AF Avalanche, which worked good as wel. Maybe even better than the Gyeon!?

    Thanks for the info as usual. Personally I use valet pro ph neutral unscented most of the times for customers, but my personal go to for my old girl is the adbl cherry ice cream. It doesn't shift off built up traffic film but drives through the dirt. That's the best I can get in Poland without ordering online and waiting for deliveries. Have you ever used adbl products by any chance?
    Thanks for reading.

    My favourite is Valet Pro Advanced Neutral, as per your awards mentions two years in a row. It removes the most dirt, traffic film, road grime and all bugs, more than anything I’ve ever tried by miles.
    I’ve tried CarChem, Autoglym and Valet Pro Snow Foam (Plain one is really thick) and they all average, but Advanced Neutral leaves the car almost spotless even after tons of miles in winter.
    Turtlewax Hyperfoam was the absolute worst, just rubbish I had to throw it out.

    Been using magi for a while .It works well ,until I used BH foam . If your a foam junkie and like people giving you and your car and most of the street curious looks when its foamed then magi is for you IF YOU WANT A FOAM THAT GOES ABOUT THE JOB with out the car looking like Santa's grotto and being able to see it soften and remove caked on crud BH is for you . Magi is still a good foam but it just takes an age for the foam suds to dissipate . A guy actually threatened me with the cops for making it snow in July with magi Think he'd had a few too many beers tho

    I have used several soaps in my foam gun... I've never expected them to clean, more as a pre-wash lubricating agent. Over the past few years it's been some Chemical Guys product or other and they've all met those expectations. I'll be interested in the vid when you release it as I'm certainly up for something significantly better than I'm using. But I'm not unhappy with how things are.

    I have currently 4 of the snow foams on your worktop and have used 2 of the others Jon and i prefer the Valet pro Advanced one between them, Gyeon is good but too expensive, good old bilt hamber it's great for summer months as it doesn't stay on the car that long, Autoglyms is middle of the roads at best it's average and also doesn't disperse that easy and expensive
    Yup Valet pro Advanced snow foam is a no brainer mate

      I just bought the snap connect one from clean your ride for 7.99. basically if you want a cheap one find someone selling the chinese ones for like 10-15 quid. If you want an expensive one perhaps look at the autobrite PA one or the MTM one. ill do a comparison of the cheap chinese ones once ive had a play.

    I use Autoglym arctic blast, I started off using Pro Kleen as it was great value and got loads of foam, but not much cleaning other than what the pressure washer pushed off. Valet Pro next as it was on offer then few halfords specials after that.
    Autoglym was a halfords deal but it is cleaning much better, and I get loads of foam as well. Sold the karcher k2 and k4 as never really got great pressure and bought a second hand kranzle, that’s made a huge difference to how the product goes down tbh. I’d probably try BH next due to the feedback on your channel, but I’m happy with Autoglym, I’d actually moved away from their product over the years but on the strength of arctic blast might give them another go.

    Hi forensics. First I like to say I am fairly new to your channel but the last couple of weeks I have been through a lot of your videos I like then very much and I think I am learning a lot from you. ( I am only a enthusiast, not a professional) but I like you to try out "auto finesse avalanche " it's a good value for money product that delivers on both a lot of foam but also on effect I love how my car is almost clean after only done my pre wash, but it's most impressive time is winter time because of the citrus based formula it helps a lot with road films and salts and whatever nasty stuff is on the roads in the winter half year in Denmark.. I am guessing it's the same conditions you experience I Britain. I hope you like my comment and maybe got curious on auto finesse avalanche it's the best foam for me. Cheers.
