This is awesome news although I’m not sure why you’d want to hike with that Marmalade guy again! Haha so happy you guys going back to finish this off. Next the four of us can do the CDT! Cheers guys!
I just started backpacking a couple of years ago and started following you last year as I was preparing for a 60 mile hike in Wyoming. You both are an inspiration and provided practical knowledge that helped me train and gather the proper frame of mind to enjoy the entire journey. About the time you guys skipped forward out of the Sierras, my wife started watching with me and we both delight in the humor. In fact, I went back and watched the entire AT video collection as well. We were both excited to hear that you are going to be back at it later this hear. We look forward to watching your adventures with Hazel and Mr. Freeze. We are moving to Ohio this year so perhaps I'll meet Mr. Freeze on a local trail as I train for my next adventure. Enjoy!!!
Welcome back, gentlemen! Sobo is definitely the way to go through the Sierra. We, Beerman and I (Ranger), did it sobo in 2019. It was a heavy and late snow year, so rather than mountaineer our way across, we jumped up to Fish Lake in Oregon and walked south. By the time we hit Kennedy Meadows north the snow was already melting pretty fast so all the way through we had a little snow (a couple harrowing crosses and climbs) but nothing like what our friends did that chose to continue nobo. ALSO we found that by starting our Sierra experience from the top, we did indeed enjoy a gradual acclimation to the altitudes and the climbs. It really felt like the best way to do it to me.
Welcome back!!! Okay okay. I'm going to say what others have probably been thinking.... these guys really need a show on an outdoor focused cable network.
Great news! The two of you have inspired this 68 year old to get out and do a LASH of Oregon and as much of Washington (NOBO) as I can this year! Hearing that Hazel is joining you again is great! Perhaps, if she agrees, you can tell us all a little bit about her? Happy Trails!
What a treat to see you in my feed! My brother hikes out of the Reno area and has a channel: Sierra Nevada Hikes. He and my nephew did the Tahoe Rim Trail two years ago, and last year my son joined them to summit Mt. Whitney. Best of luck to you on this year’s adventure!
Hi guys! Really glad to hear your heading back to the PCT. I've been using your experience to tweet my own NoBo PCT plans for 2024. I'm an ol' guy myself (69). I'm tentatively going to be passing Quincy in early August. With any luck, our paths will cross.
I hope you have a great time picking up the parts of the pct you missed. I’ll pray that you won’t hit any fires. It’s so beautiful out there and we’ve had a bunch of snow in the sierras again but hopefully by then the rivers and creeks will be more dried out. Enjoy the desolation wilderness and Tahoe. Yosemite in the north is challenging in a totally different way but stunning. And Tuolumne meadows should be open so you can get a bit of food there and maybe stay in the campgrounds around there. Look forward to your posts
You guys rock. Look forward to your upcoming hiking exploits. If you are also thinking about doing the San Jacinto section and need a ride, let me know. I live in San Diego.
Hi Guys, great to have you back! Following you last year inspired me to organize a SOBO trip with my son this summer 2024. I too am codger aged at 67, 68 in August, but I'm not letting that get in my way. It's possible we'll run into your crew on the trail depending on our pace and mileage which is yet to be revealed. Thanks for your dedication in sharing your adventures!
The music!! I missed it and both of you. I watched every video of PCT and felt so connected. I may not get to hike it before I'm 65 so I can live vicariously via you both. Maybe I'll see you in the Sierra in August.
I must say I have missed you guys, really looking forward to check out the gear you will be using, as well as the rest of the band bringing it. Being a tad older than most hikers, you have encouraged me to get out and live that dream. Looking forward to what comes next.
Glad to hear it guys! 🎉❤ It will be nice to see Hazel again too! She’s a happy soul. I really enjoyed your journey last year and am glad I have more to look forward to with all the special people in your hiking circle ⭕️ of friends. Best of luck to you all. 🎊
This is great news. I've just recently started watching your 2023 PCT videos, just finishing day 38, so I wasn't aware of the parts you missed. I'm planning on making the hike, but I'm a few years out still. I've enjoyed watching your daily routines, and getting lots of tips from you.
Hi guys! So nice to see your video pop up! So back at it in August! And with Hazel, Mr. Freeze and possibly others. We'll all be looking forward to that. Will look for your upcoming gear review. Take care.
Whoo-HOO 🥳🎉 Didn't think I would ever see you guys and Hazel again!!! I'm looking forward to you're section-hike wrap-up on the PCT. Been subscribed for quite a long time now (obviously) and ready to watch whatever it is you Codgers (and Hazel, of course ) want to offer us!!! Happy Trails!!!
Awesome you ole' Codgers 😉! August will be a great time to be in the Sierra. As for the adapting well to altitude, there are some things you can try now to be ready for that more heated time of year at altitude. Happy to do a live CZcams with you both and discuss some trail-tested, well researched ways to improve your physiological capacity at altitude and some things many trail enthusiasts don't realize what's really possible, instead of struggling and suffering unnecessarily. And you can do it from low lands, don't need to be high in the mountains to gain some aerobic capacity and improve your endurance. Even for the "ole' guys and gals!" Congratulations and look forward to having a conversation for you and your followers. Cheers!
My wife and I watched your pct hike last year, and still talk about your attempt to hike through the sierra’s with the ragging night time river crossing and the ice pick climbing. It was off the chart amazing. So excited you are heading back out here. We will absolutely be watching!
Glad to hear that you have more plans. It was a pleasure meeting you on trail and you both looked like you had more miles in you yet. I tried to hike the sierra nevada section in August in 2018 but there were too many fires so I ended up doing the trail in june 2021 and june 2022. Gorgeous. Best wishes for a great hike. Queasy Rider.
Great! It put a smile on my face, to see that you had posted a new video! Snow levels are so high right now. August should be good, but possibly smokey.
Awesome! We will be looking for your videos. Our son (trail name "Tomahawk") did the PCT last year also. While he sent some pix and videos we found that if we watched you guys we could get a much better view of where he was going to hike or had hiked. And in process of watching y'all we got wrapped up in your journey too. So glad you guys will be getting to finish and do the JMT- gorgeous country. Enjoy!
I went through Codger PCT withdrawal after you ended last year. Glad to see you’re both coming back to finish off the PCT. Doesn’t sound like you plan on hiking through to Mt. whitney. It really is spectacular. If you have the time and energy, I strongly recommend you complete the PCT & Mt. Whitney from Bishop to Lone Pine.
Fantastic! I've been following your videos last year and will be on the PCT from late April on. If you are not starting too late in August, we might meet in NorCal. I'll look out for you. Happy trails!
Please keep us posted on on your training. I'm doing the Tahoe Rim trail sometime this summer. Our paths will cross at different times. Great to see you back.
YAY! So glad you're going back to finish the Sierra. Quincy will be a good place to start since it's the lower part of the Sierra and you can acclimate as you go. Yes, a couple of weeks ago, we had quite the snowfall up "the hill", but our snow pack had been slightly below average prior to that. Now, it's just above average and our rainy/snow season will be coming to an end soon, so August will be perfect. My family and I will be hiking a small portion of the PCT as part of a 4 day backpacking trip in Yosemite this August so who knows. Maybe we'll cross paths! Happy Trails!
Yea.....you're back.... NICE. (how old do you have to be to be a codger?) I'll be starting at Campo in just a couple handful of days. Happy Trails....!
Woohoo! Happy Trails are here again! I was just looking at your channel earlier today hoping to see something new and now I can go to bed happily anticipating your August trek with the rest of the PCT crew. So enjoyed your videos last year. Best to you in the prepping!
The Sierra is beautiful when it doesn't feel like it is trying to kill you. We're just below average snow pack right now, and as long as we don't get a lot more snow, the Sierra should be great by late August without any snow on the trail or mosquitos.
The Band!!!! And Hazel too, absolutely perfect!
This is awesome news although I’m not sure why you’d want to hike with that Marmalade guy again! Haha so happy you guys going back to finish this off. Next the four of us can do the CDT! Cheers guys!
Come on, Marmalade! The least we need is a cameo appearance ... 😄
@@richardinjapan4578 it would be really fun to hike with them again!
Just seeing your faces makes me smile.

Look forward to the whole crew getting back together!
So excited!!! Glad you two, and the rest of the crew will be back! 🎉🎉🎉 The Sierra's will be amazing 😍 for you!
So happy to see you guys are keeping well and I'm so excited see you guys back on the trail. From South Carolina here.
So happy that Hazel will be with you. YaY!
Good to see you guys. I'm glad you are doing well
Welcome back Codgers. Looking forward to your adventures.

So glad to see you again ! Hope to see you for real on trail, as i’m hiking the PCT this year.
This made me so happy! I’ll enjoy walking on my walk pad in the heat of summer along with you!

I saw that she's a great artist besides a great backpacker

Nice it would be cool to see you guys as I head Northbound on the PCT. You guys are awesome and killed it last year. Have a fun hike.
Hey that's great. I may see you. I'm a codger myself at 77 years old. Trail name double oh 77. Happy trails.
Hey that's exciting news you guys! Congratulations ❤
Best news all week! Codgers are back to finish the PCT.
Very exciting news!! Loved your videos on the Pct!

This is great news. I've just recently started watching your 2023 PCT videos, just finishing day 38, so I wasn't aware of the parts you missed. I'm planning on making the hike, but I'm a few years out still. I've enjoyed watching your daily routines, and getting lots of tips from you.
