I love Leon. "Lady Blue" is another knockout song. Thanks for reacting to this!

Thank you for reacting to ol' Leon. Remember, he was a session musician on piano for many known records. Also, his songwriting is top notch. His vocal 'styling' is an acquired taste for some ... with most of his popular songs covered by other artists. This video seems like it was done at the old Sea Saint studio of Allen Toussaint, in New Orleans.

He wrote A Song For You for his then girlfriend Rita Coolidge woh was also a singer. He also sang “type rope”. One of my favorites. Worth the listen.

Yeah not really well known.....Leon only played on THOUSANDS of Sessions, in which HUNDREDS were TOP 10 HITS!

Calm down, it was a valid observation. Leon was NOT as well known as Elton John or even Billy Preston. The DJs didn't announce his playing piano on Sinatra's and Beach Boys hits. It took Joe Cocker doing Delta Lady to promote Leon's incredible talent.

Donny Hathaway probably owns this tune (beautiful). Leon still is fun to listen to also.

Singer-songwriters know better than anyone the true meanings of their songs. That's why Eric Carmen's All By Myself eclipses Celine Dion's version, despite her incredible voice. There are exceptions, such as CSNY doing Woodstock, written by Joni Mitchell, who didn't attend the event and thus didn't truly experience it. David Ackles wrote incredible songs that others like Donny could sing better, but can they truly capture the pathos David does singing his The Road to Cairo?
