    A very thorough comparison between three great tents.
    I have the Lite2, I think you may have omitted the rear ventilation feature whereby you can replicate what you did at the front, which completely opens up the tent. But, probably not too common in UK and ROI !!! I'd have loved to see another 5cm head room at the front end and a 2nd access door on the other side of the front (if viable). But, yep, a very high quality tent that will cover you for most situations!!
    Rgds, Wadirunner.

    Great video i have two tents... abisko lite 2 and view 2..best two tents as you say 4 and 3 season respectively and agree with your comments totally.. I also have footprints for both which I would recommend and also a great extra for the abisko lite 2 is a complete mesh inner tent for the abisko lite 2 which you replace the 4 season inner with and thus making a lovely allround mesh inner for summer which makes the ventilation amazing and removes a little weight so a great asset to the lite 2 ..the view 2 I agree is amazing also and a fab tent for the three seasons with all the amazing features you describe..keep up the great reviews..

      Fantastic summary of both tents you mentioned, with regards to the footprints you talk about, I'm currently using a footprint from another tent, quick question, do the footprints cover just the bottom of the inner tent or the porch as well and also do they attach to the bottom of the tent, so they don't blow about in the wind, if so I think you might of talked me into purchasing them lol....
      Many thanks for watching and the feedback and I really appreciate you taking time to subscribe 👍

      Hi buddy..footprints are expensive but worth the money I've found as they do cover both the tent bottom and vesibules completely.. therefore allowing good dry storage and better protection to the tent underside made from 70d polymide with a greater water protection also of 10,000 mm and toggles onto tent base, so as to keep ease of erecting tent in one simple pitch. One further nice touch is that they still store away in the tent bag fullt attached although a little snugger fit..hope this convinces you that it's a good move for a little extra weight but more protection and comfort in bonny scottyland.!

    • @WestieTravels
      @WestieTravels  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Brilliant!...you've convinced me! The fact it stays attached, whereas just now I'm often fighting the wind with my substitute footprint, think I'll bite the bullet and just order one..
      Many thanks for the info pal 👍

    I originally purchased the Lite 1 but as someone new to camping and quite tall it felt just a tad too claustrophobic for me. I switched to the Lite 2 and couldn't have been happier with it. Everyone has different preferences of course. The one common factor with both is they're great quality.

    • @WestieTravels
      @WestieTravels  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Yeah, totally agree with that comment, the lite 1 is such a great tent and it was hard to justify spending all that money on its big brother the lite 2...that is until you pitch it for your first nights camp and realise, it's actually even better than the lite 1 👍

    • @gerlachsieders4578

      @WestieTravels  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Totally agree, great wee tent, if all you care about is lightweight and low profile, then it's perfect, but I prefer the trade off with heavier weight but a bit more room 👍

    I am always astonished what people consider being/having "tons of space"...

    • @WestieTravels
      @WestieTravels  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Suppose it's all relative really, what I probably meant was tons of space compared to the small lite 1 tent ⛺...after a lot of trips in it anything would seem bigger 👍

    Fantastic review, i wish it had been out a short time ago when i was trying to decide what one to get.
    Having never actually seen an Abisko 1 or 2 lite in the flesh as it were, I was having a lot of trouble deciding what one to get. In the end I went for Abisko Lite 2, not much more weight for a lot more room, and was impressed by it's small pack size when it arrived. Unfortunately on my first outing, just over a week ago, it leaked very badly at every seam. I contacted the retailer (Trekitt) who said it had to go back to Fjallraven for them to access it and could take a month at least. I'm hoping it will be a bit quicker than that as I have a 3 day trip planed in 15 days, fingers crossed their support is both fast good. It definitely is a fantastic tent and i think i made the right choice if only it had stayed dry.
    Have you ever had any reason to use the Fjallraven warranty?

    • @WestieTravels
      @WestieTravels  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Sorry to hear that about your tent, I've not had a problems with any of the three tents and they've all been out in really heavy windy rain on multiple occasions. Hopefully it's just a one off manufacturing problem that can happen to any item.
      Never used the fjallraven warranty but id imagine they'll be pretty good as they have such a good reputation for quality gear.
      I hope you get it sorted before your big trip, maybe email them to let them know about it and see if they can speed things up.
      Best of luck with it and let me know how you get on with them 👍

      @@WestieTravels I've just sent an email of to them and hopefully it'll help. It's unfortunate it's leaking but I have confidence in them putting it right but time could be tight. I'll let you know how it pans out.
      I have to say I agree with your choice of which one you'd chose in the video and I must admit I'm sorely tempted to get an Abisko like 1 also.

      @WestieTravels  Před 4 měsíci +2

      Yeah, keep me informed about it, be good to see how good fjallraven's customer service is, although I suppose some of it will depend on the Trekkit side of things too....you sound as bad as me for purchasing another piece of kit, there's always a good reason why we really need it lol 😆

    @GearTutorials Před 19 dny +1

    Exactly the video I needed. Currently on the fence between the abisko lite 1 and 2 and on the verge of reaching the same conclusion of the extra cost and weight is hardly a penalty for the space you get in the 2.
    Have you had them both out in similarly strong wind? Find them equally capably on that front?
    Cheers, great video

    • @WestieTravels
      @WestieTravels  Před 19 dny +1

      Yes, definitely go for the lite 2, the minimal extra weight is worth the extra room and comfort and it stands up to the wind very well 👍

      @@WestieTravels ended up going for the 1 😅 it's a comparable size to the robens chaser 2 I'm replacing (smaller inner, bigger vestibule) and saw it for a cracking price so couldn't resist. Can definitely foresee myself being tempted still by the abisko lite 2 if I see it at a good price though 😂. Cheers again for the video, came back to watch again a few more times to help my indecisive mind

    I'm liking the Abisko lite 1 tent! the only problem I see is that it seems to have a very short width. Can it fit a 25" (65cm) inflatable mat if put just in the middle hence not reaching both ends which are shorter in width?

    Is abisko 2 generally stronger than abisko 1?

    • @WestieTravels
      @WestieTravels  Před 4 měsíci +2

      Hard to say, the poles on the ABISKO 2 are slightly thicker than the ABISKO 1, but it's a lower profile tent...the answer is that they are both very good tents in high winds, the 2 will be noisier with the fabric flapping because of the height, but never had any trouble with either tent..I just feel that with all the extra room you get in the 2 over the 1 for just 400g more it's the better tent ⛺👍

    • @vvs3796
      @vvs3796 Před 4 měsíci +1

      @@WestieTravels I didn't expect such reply..I own abisko 1 and 2 looks like it gets pitched more tight bcs of design.
      For me if fabric was a bit thicker and main pole a bit thicker it would be much better.
      Tent feels strong and quality but 4 seasons..not sure. Abisko 1 Does flap a lot in high winds . It needs seam sealing ideally no matter what people say.
      Would you use a footprint for abisko 1? Floor feels a bit it thin,wouldn't want to damage such expensive tent.but with footprint weight savings are minimal.

    • @WestieTravels
      @WestieTravels  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Yeah, I see what you're saying, no tent is perfect! Only perfect for one scenario, if you want it bomb proof, you'll then have to put up with extra weight etc, really comes down to the individual and what they're looking for in a piece of kit....I used a footprint from another old tent I have to protect the floor. Never had a drop of rain come through any of the three tents, but I realise, sometimes during manufacturing, any piece of kit can come if with a fault, but it certainly doesn't do any harm to add some seal sealer for added piece of mind...Thanks for commenting, you bring up some valid points 👍
